| May 2006 Unofficial NoLimits Contest
The NoLimits contests of May and June will be replaced by a co-operative contest in which two people build one coaster. The first person will build the ride up to the MCBR, the second will finish it and both persons will construct the supports. If you feel interested, then place a post in this thread. To be able to sign up, you have to be available both months since I will choose people at random (with a calculator). When the number of people is not an even number, then I will be the second person myself with somebody (also chosen randomly). Sign-up ends April 29, giving me a day to prepare. The contest will give you a large scale of freedom, the main rules will be that the track is steel, the height above 250 ft = 76,20 m and the supports realistic. So you can choose for yourself whether you want a hyper, inverted, looper, etc. Since you have two months, use of WoodMagic is not allowed.

You can't pick your own partner? Yeah, no way.

Just like in the December 2004 contest. I don't want to have the NoLimits experts to co-operate because the contest wouldn't be exciting then.

I'd prefer if it was pick your own partner. I say if you see a pair that looks like two experts, split them up.

I dont think I'll have that much time to dedicate to this, I have a vacation and work coming up. My partner would probably just get pissed that I'd barely work on it.

I'm in. Also, did we lose the Six Flags sponsorship or something? Usually every contest starting in March is official.

Willski, I am not going over prizes but it seems to be that there are problems getting things done, therefore I just continue having Unofficial contests for those who like to have some kind of contest. I have three members at the time, waiting for a lot more to come...Currently in:

You'd get more people (including me) if we could pick our own partners.

@PKIDelirium, I know, but I explained above why this wouldn't be very handy. But SUPPOSE I would give you that choice, which teams would y'all form to join? (maybe I just do it, have to think of it). I'll extend the sign in period to May 2 then.

Well... there is a lot of interest in this contest, making we have the astonishing number of two groups... I have chosen a random number, which makes that
I think I'll just post the rules in this thread instead of making a new one. The goal of this contest is making a 250 feet or higher steel coaster of any kind. Because things have changed in the organisation (just letting you work together) two months aren't needed. Please let me know if you didn't count on this and think you have really not enough time to finish your group's entry.
The deadline is May 31, 11:59 Eastern Time (US). Let your creativity flow and make something of it. In the first week of June, we hope to get to judging. Use this thread for questions.

I would like to monitor progress. May is halfway, are both teams halfway too?

Are both teams still working on it at all? Seems that I am the only one bothering, so please keep an eye on your schedule because if you don't finish, the other team automatically wins and you don't want that to happen.

I've done about 1/3 of the supports and I hope I will be able to finish it. I've had a really rough month and I wish it could have stayed from may to june

I have a question. At two spots on my track the g's spike to over 5 positive (5.1 and 5.8 respectively). I don't understand how this is possible, since the bases of my hills have a constant radius and the pull-out part is fine, it's just the pull-up is too intense. I'm thinking this is caused by a random g-spike, but I'm not sure. My question is this: Are you DQ-ing for g-spikes, even if the track is perfect (I used tools and AHG)? EDIT: Also, is it possible to change the lift speed during the lift (like MF's speed-up near the top)?
