5 Inversions+ Coaster Contest

In the light of the Record Breakers contest, I want to put forth a new competition.

I hope it'll go a bit smoother than the Record Breakers Contest!

Requirements:
  • 5 Inversions
  • Standard Inverting Type Coaster (Use a regularly inverting coaster)
  • Must be Complete Circuit

If this gets going, We can determine a time limit.

Is it 5 inversions, or 5+? I need to practice NL again now that I got my laptop fixed. Your guidelines should be more specific too.

5+

I think the guidelines are just loose enough, and just tight enough, to make it a free playing field. The ride must go 180º upside down, 5 or more times. It needs to be Full Circuit, and has to be a kind of ride you'd normally see do an inversion.

I have a question. There exist hyper coasters with inversions, is it allowed to use this type?

Anyhow, I started a coaster. Not sure whether I am going to use it however.

I have a question. Will there be a template provided, or just make a coaster with no boundaries?

No Boundaries, Yes hyper coasters are allowed, assuming they're meant to be an intamin looper. (Same for intamin invert.)

Pretty much, my list of what is allowed, is below:

Common Types:
Corkscrew
Inverted (2-Seat)
Twisted
Inverted (4-Seat)
Intamin Looper
Floorless
Stand Up

Less Common:
LIM Launched
Intamin Invert
Vekoma Flyer
EuroFighter
EuroFighter 2

Those are the listed. If you want to make something else, like a 5-looping Schwarzkopf, that's fine too.

I personally think you should make it more challenging, atleast provide a building area, speed or height limit. When theres more restrictions or goals to reach it makes the designer work harder and therfore come up with better rides.

I agree. I think this is basically just build any looping coaster contest. Which means you'll have B&M inverts against Schwartzkopf loopers against Arrows and Eurofighters. The rules also don't include anything about terraforming or 3Ds.

How bout putting some regulations on this? Like height/speed, overall length, box in a boundary area, etc.

How is this going to be judged?

If you let members vote, give them ALOT of time. Because on the record brakers contest, my ride only got one vote...

I think its a bad idea to let members vote because like in the last contest members might not have voted on some rides or even downloaded. You should pick a minimum of 2 judges so we can assure everyones rides have a fair chance of winning.

I might consider joining the contest if more challenging stipulations are made.

Ok, due to popular request/demand, let's make it Inverted or Flying only.

OK?

If you're going to include flying, what is considered an "inversion"?

I want in! I think im going for the flying design! Hope it turns out. Also, I agree with the whole situation for needing judges.

Hey.. I have been working on my flying coaster a lot lately and I have a question. Is it unusual for there to be high laterals when building in nolimits, with flying coasters. I have a turn that is a little over 180 degrees, and it starts in a lie and switched to fly half way through. The transition is smooth, im just having big problems with the laterals. Any suggestions?

Personally, I'm more forgiving to laterals on flying coasters due to the seating position... If your transition is too fast you'll get high laterals. And watch your "Acceleration" G's as those are the ones where your riders will be pressed on their chest and back. High negative acceleration Gs mean you're riders are being pressed against the harness. Vertical G's mean almost nothing in flying coasters until you hit the brakes. You'll get high negative "vertical" forces if your brakes are too fast.

bummer....I was hoping to design a B&M sitdown twister. I guess I could make an invert. I already started on one but wasn't going to enter it mainly because of the support work. By the way, are there any limitations on using predifined supports or do they have to be all custom.

Hey, I am almost finished with the coaster for this contest. I have been working hard since I heard about the contest. If your wondering, I only have to red g's now. Best I can get it for how the ride is. Trackwork is 100% complete, supports are 100% complete, For scenery, In my opinion it's 100% although I just have some trees because I am not good at 3ds, or the terraformer. I got the trains timed, and colors picked out. I only need a name. Any suggestions for a relatively compact, 138 foot tall, 50 mph, 60 second long, intense flyer? I think the world is running out of bird names for flying coasters!! I mean seriously, Firehawk?
