500 ft Sky Coaster?

I was watching my Extreme Rides movie last night and noticed that on the Sky Coaster part a guy said that there is a 500ft Sky Coaster on the Drive board or something like that. Trust me, I rewound and rewatched that part like ten times and he did say that. I personally thought that the one in Orlando was the tallest. I could be wrong though.

I saw that and heard him say that too. It definately hasn't been built yet so either it got scapped or hasn't been put in yet.

The one in Orlando is the tallest (and one hell of a thrill)

He says that there is a 500 foot tall one on the drawing board, meaning one could be built should a customer want one, but no one has built one yet.

yeah the one in Florida is the tallest right now. I thoguht 300 ft. looked scary as heck and now 500. On that one in florida you go "in" like over a 90* angle and on 500 wow that would be scary. Lets just hope they dont put a fountain on the other side like the 1 in florida YIKES! i still havent ridden the 1 in florida but was going to in 4th grade, my brother chickened out and i was gonna go with my cousin in law but mymom didnt wanna pay so i didnt get to go and neither did my cousin in law

Oh boy. Sky coasters are pay-per-ride attractions. Most sky coasters comprise of two towers. One tower is a tall pole, and the other is comprised of two poles in an 'A frame' shape. Basically, the rider is strapped in to a harness and put in the "flying position" (think superman). You are then pulled backwards and upwards by a cable to the top of the tall pole. Then at the top, you are released and you swing like a pendulum. I guess it's hard to explain. Here is a picture.

When you are dropped, you accelerate straight down (until the force of the cable corrects your fall), not at any other angle. There is no force to pull you "in" beyond 90 degrees.

i have been on 4 or 5 sky coasters but not any big ones.. the tallest one i did was i think the one at LC its 180feet tall and was only liek 15$ for a solo rider i have done SFNEs when it was still riverside... its liek 25 to go solo at SFNE.. hmm SFAs was only 10$ with a seasonpass for solo...
but rthe old town one is like 50$ to go solo..but the 300+ foot slingshot ride is only like 15 so i think i will do that over a skycoaster..

Cost me $25
"Students with proper ID fly for $25 before 8 PM"
Although they didn't ask for proper ID anyway.
And it was well worth that price, it was the most thrilling ride I've done to date (probably until I go skydiving next summer).

Holy hell, I'd never in my life want to ride one of these things.

Your balls must be square to want to ride these things.

They're actually pretty fun, and if you can handle Acro then you can handle a Skycoaster.

I rode SFOG's about 18 times one day when they were training the crew before the season started.

I Haven't been on the one In Orlando yet, but I've been near it, and it's amazing watching it... All I need to do is find someone who will ride it with me...

As for the 500ft one, that would be really insane! I hope it does get built somewhere.

I rode it alone this summer, the one in old town, right after a thunderstorm. It was one of the craziest experiences of my life. Then I went and rode the slingshot- also awesome. Good times....

The Kissimmee Skycoaster!

WOW.
[COLOR=Black] I promised myself I would do it. After 4 rather lame days at Disney World, the need for adrenaline was big. It was TERRIFIC. Anyone who has done a 180 ft skycoaster can handle this. I went solo - $5 off coupons are widely available all over Orlando. The ride up is MUCH faster than any other swing I've been on (4). The view is super, it's pretty windy up there. Consider that this is the approximate height of M Force at Cedar Point....

But -- they do the "3, 2, 1, fly" call as soon as you hit the top, so rip cord, and you're off. It's head first to the count of 1, 1000, 2, 1000, then the cable catches and you're flying. Great rush.

Problem: they have counter-cables that slow down the swing much too quickly, so there are only about 4 swings back and forth before it slows down and they hold up the ring.

In all other regards, it's just like other skycoasters. I bought the video, and it looks a lot more harrowing than it really is. I had a great time, and I highly recommend this to anyone traveling down to Orlando. There aren't that many truly great thrill rides in Orlando (no matter what anyone else says), even at Universal, although Spider Man is a great ride technically speaking. Everything new at Disney was a total disappointment (Mission: Space, etc - lame). This 300 footer made my trip worthwhile. DO IT.

I rode Ripcord at Cedar Point, but was not all that impressed. I guess I expected a bigger thrill than I received. But then again, I didn't have to pay, so that was good (thanks Hector). I'm sure the 300' skycoaster would provide a bigger thrill.

I have ridden the one @ Carowinds, but it wasnt as good as i thought it was! But it was still fun though, and i would do it again anyday!

As of a 500ft. one, there will be one built, or there is at least one planned to be built. I saw a show that interviewed the maker of the skycoasters, and he said that there were already plans for one, and that was a while back, so it either got cutted out of a parks budget, or it was moved back, or another park got the plans!

It would take me a while, but I think that I would do it. Though I wouldnt even want to think about the price of it! $30 at the least, maybe $40!!! Thats a whole days pass, not just for a $5 min. ride!!! I didnt pull the cord either when I rode with my friend on the one @ Carowinds.
