Westfield Shoppingtown Solano (aka Solano Mall in Fairfield, California) is going to install a carousel inside the mall right in front of sears. I saw how big it was (outlined in electrical tape for a few hours) and it looks to be a pretty decent size. A real ride, not one of those coin-op things. -Gen |

I know of other malls that have carousels in them here in Michigan... Rivertown Crossings in Grand Rapids, Grand Traverse Mall in Traverse City, Crossroads Mall in Portage, Birchwood Mall in Port Huron. Rivertown, Adrian Mall, Grand Traverse Mall, and Bay City Mall have kiddie areas, a couple of which have attractions that you need to pay to ride. Of course, these are all malls owned by the same company (General Growth Properties). I'm sure there's a couple of other malls to have such attractions. These are all operated much like a modern-day carousel you might find at some places, where the operator stands outside and controls it from there (complete with e-stop or a presence pedal).

Well, my mall is owned by Westfield (its small) but there is a kiddie train ride. Just nothin but a circle and a small train. There was another mall in my town before it was torn down, it had a giant carousel. I miss that mall!

I've seen a few malls with carousels. They always seem to be busy so they must be a pretty good investment.

Close to where I live, Chapel Hill Mall has a really nice carousel (as barely seen in the link below, but you can read a little about the carousel). http://www.chapelhillmall.com/newfiles/join_us.html |

Does Belden Village have a carousel? I didn't see one at Summit Mall (where I get my Tribe tickets). Care to tell me of a better mall around here, gladly appreciated. Of all the malls in Toledo, Southwyck is the one that did have one. But that mall is even worse than the Summit Mall. Franklin Park Mall, to the best of my knowledge, does not have one. Carousels and I have never gotten along (yet I do fine on Cedar Downs.)

As for malls in your area, though a slight drive, Belden Village is probably the nicest. Summit Mall is a bit on the small side, but there are plenty of other stores nearby. The same can be said about Chappel Hill Mall. If you're brave, then you can goto Rolling Afros Mall. http://www.rollingacresmall.com Just don't go (unarmed) after dark, lol. Southpark Mall is rather nice - 1216 South Park Center, Strongsville, OH 44136 so is Great Northern Mall - 512 Great Northern Blvd., North Olmstead, OH 44070 Also, avoid Parmatown (http://www.parmatown.com/) and Randall Dark Mall (http://www.randallparkmall.net/) like the plague. All of these malls are still better than Sandusky Mall. I can't remember if any of these malls have any carousels. Last edited by Magnum Robert; 03-03-2004 at 10:25 AM. |

Randall Park mall is home to a kiddie coaster at Jeepers. Southpark Center and Westfield Shopingtown-Belden Village are the best malls around the Cleveland-Akron metro area.

At Town Center Mall in Atlanta they have two awesome simulators. On one of them you can make your own coaster and then ride it. Its a simulator that sits two people and goes upsidown. We have a plastic Carousel that is probably five feet across. It costs 25 cents. LOL. |

I forgot about that simulator, but that mall sucks.

At the Carousel Mall (go figure) in Syracuse they have a carousel. It's decently sized and ride off the food court. They charge like $.50 to ride. It has some historic backround, but I don't know the whole story.
