Tricks To Gain Speed On Waterslides

Anyone know any good tricks to give yourself a little "boost" in speed waterslides?

Keep yourself as low to the slides as possible and keep your head back at all times. You're more aerodynamic that way...common sense really.

lean into the turn...like a bobsleder (or any other type of slider for that matter. Lugers ect.) try to stay in the bottom of the turn but not too far down.)

Cross your arms, cross your legs while lying on your back. Sitting up can cause you to stop. And if you have something at the top of the slide to grab on to, you just use that to push yourself off. And don't listen to SFNE Stinks about running and jumping onto the slide. All that will do is cause you to most likely hurt yourself and get in trouble.

The absolute best way to gain speed on a slide is to arch your back so you are only riding on your heels and your shoulder blades. TRUST ME. Nothing else will make you go faster.

I'll consider that. I'm really really skinny so hopefully that'll help.

Yeah, arching your back does help. Lift up your head too, esspecially if you have hair that can drag along and slow you down. It makes those slides that have rough points between sections more bairable too.

You want to get just like a board. You don't want your heads or arms or something like that to be just hanging out. That will make you go slower. Also the back arching thing helps a lot. I have done it before.

If your speaking about tube slides...Don't let your butt sit on the slide. That always works for me. And I think putting heavier people in front does something, but most parks make smaller people sit in front.

I've always ridden bodyslides on my heels and shoulder blades (if the slide allows it, it hurts sometime on some) and always gain lot of speed. Causes me to emergency brake in some cases because the one in front of me is so slow...

Just wondering, have you ever tried riding a body slide with some friends, holding on to the others legs and hands forming a train. That's one of the funniest thing you can ever do, but not very legal...

If we see people going down chain riding, they will likely get sit out. And some adults have gotten sit out for doing stuff like that, and also going down face first. And if the bigger person goes in the front, it normally causes the raft to flip. And some adults decide to send kids who can't swim in a tube slide, so its actually good for lifeguards since they don't have to constantly jump in after people.

If you want to gain speed on waterslides cross your arms and lay flat on your back it always works for me.

I never even knew you could make yourself go faster. I'll have to try some of those thing next time. Well, except for the running start.

ok, i'm not being perverted with this suggestion, i'm just answering the question. the fastest ride i've ever had on a waterslide was on my bare butt. it was in aquadome outside of cologne, germany. there were all these kids in front of me pulling down the back of their suits as they sat down on the slide, and i was like "what the fuh?". so, i asked one and he explained why. naturally, i tried it, and it's fast! i also thought it was cool to be in a seated position instead of laying on my back. somehow more coaster like.
i guess the main trick is to just have as little contact with the slide as possible, and try to have absolutely no suit or hair touching. so, bare butt and then bend your legs so you can use your heels for stability. just be careful that you don't get kicked out of the park for unintentional mooning. no one really cares about non sexual public nudity in in germany, but it's way different in the usa. maybe wait until you're down the slide a ways to bare yo boo-tay

That's different! Usually when I sit up I go slower.

Not with a bare butt... it all comes down to minimize the friction and a bare butt is really smoooth.

I say just ride the dang slide and have fun going the normal speed because if you go too fast on a slide that is not made to be done so, you could flip off the side that is not banked enough. :0

You can put oilish sun protection on your body, I think it might help.

It have to be water resistent though...
About almost sliding off the sides, well that's part of the thrill, almost did that but a wall kept me inside. And on a slide outside I was kinda grinding on the edge... pretty cool (not gonna tell you how I rode it).
Now what's scary are the speed slides with tripple jumps... at least for me.

I've never really done any of these, but I usually just truck myself down the slide. By "truck" I mean just anything to keep going. All these mentioned may not make a gigantic difference. If it's got a bar above the entrance of the slide, just whip yourself like nuts down it. Each turn bank into it, and try to ride high on the walls. Arch your back a little, not a lot.

For tube slides, you can go nuts on them. Me and my friend did something wierd to make us go fast. We banked the walls of course, but...it was something else. Eh, I can't remember. I just remember pourposley falling off then having a blast down.

And for the huge circular raft rides. Get tons of heavy people. It seriously is really scary, the fact that you are riding so high on the walls. So fun.

And for the half pipes. One tip, put your chin to your chest. It WILL make a difference, trust me.

Try wearing a speedo instead of swimming trunks.

cross you legs, cross your arms over your chest, pull your shoulders up, and arch your back with your feet and you will fly like an eagle.

I used to arch my back all the time, but riding like that hurts after a while. I can't do it more than a few times during a day at a waterpark.
