have you ever heard of a bullet?

The Bullet was a ride I saw once in my entire life at a carnival a long time ago. It was like a HUGE I MEAN TALL!!! rotating arm that have bullet shaped cars on both end turning complete upside down revolutions. The cars sat one or two in fornt and one or two in back. These cars were hinged and flopped back and forth as you went upside down. I rode it only one time and it was like in 1986 and it looked very old back then so maybe thats a hint.

So ever heard of it?

This ride sounds like a standard flat ride like a Kamikaze. Though I'm sure it was an older model. http://www.flatrides.com/Ride%20Inde.../kamikaze.html
....

Kennywood's is sort of like a Kamikaze 2 where the riders feet are suspended like on an Inverted coaster. http://www.kennywood.com/attractions/thrill.php <--It's not a good picture, but it describes the ride a bit. It's called Aero 360* at Kennywood.

http://www.flatrides.com/Ride%20Inde...kamikaze2.html <---There is a Kamikaze 2.

ok close but no cigar.......

Imagine the kamikaze only having one arm...twice as tall.
also the bullet (as the carnival called it) had one 4 seat bullet shape car on each end of the arm.... keep in mind these cars were like being in a cage and they were hinged so that at the vary top they would flop to one side or the other but youd still be upside down.

Oh I forgot to mention also that the restraint was only a seatbelt so youd get the force of being upsidedown pulling you up and the flopping added a feeling of you were going to fly out even though you were caged in.

yeah...that's a Roll-O-Plane. That's actually the first ride that came to mind after reading your description.

^ Yes, thats the one I rode at Kennywood. It wasn't the Kamikaze or the Kamikaze 2. The one I rode was next to the river splash ride.

One things differnt, though. You say it ha donly one arm? The one I rode had two arms rotating in the opposite direction.

I think there is one at Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk, as well.

EDIT. Just saw the new post. Is that Phantom's Revenge in the background of the first picture? I guess it did have only one arm. Wait, I don't remember it flattening out like that. Are there two similar rides like that at Kennywood?

EDIT AGAIN. Wait! I do remember it flattening out! and I do remember it having only one arm! Thats the one I rode.

OK the first picture looks almost just like it except the one I rode was taller.

The second pic makes me think it was maybe a different ride cause the one I rode the arm never stood out like that they only rotated while the cars themselves flopped around.

HOWEVER this is so close I think maybe the one I rode might have been an early version of this. This is almost exactly it.

I think I may know what you are talking about. Three years ago I was at the Ohio State Fair and there was this arm that was around 75-100 ft. long and on either end there was a little "pod" that seated 2 people. I can't remember if the "pods" rotated or not though.

Yea, a local fair here in my home town used to always have a ride similar to the description you have given. I did a quick search for a picture but couldnt find one. Great ride anyways. Always looked a bit unsafe though....

It sounds like cannonballer is describing a Zipper. But, it looks like he was describing the Roll-O-Plane.

Remember I can't describe rides to good, but the Bullet to me was like this...a very tall middle pole and a windmill like thing attached to it, with only two extensions. At the end of each extension was a two person pod type thing that looked like a bullet. That's the bullet I remember. That ride was very popular back in the early 70's at carnivals and fairs, and yes all you had was a seat belt, like most rides had back then. I can see it in my mind. I wish I could draw it to show you. But I'm not that talented. Sorry.

Actually, what year did you ride this? Seems to me, I haven't seen the "Bullet" I know, for years and years!!
I think you know what I am talking about yes.

It was very old when I rode it like in 1986 at a carnival.
it was in the back of the carnival and seamed to be THE neglected ride.
I mean it was rusty dented etc.
Now that I think about it it looked like a 70's ride, at least had that feel ya know.

yeah its a mueseum peice. Dude I wonder if there is one decaying somwhere?

The only way an amusenet park would get one is to rebuild one from scratch and even the its not suitable because of the capacity. PLUSE though fun I think back on it and wonder how I got myself to ride it because now that i am older it seems it was very dangerous. Felt that way anyways.

the bullet as i know is similar to the roll o plane thing. think of the cage cars on it but have the arms on either side of a central pole. the cars do not rotate and the 2 arms spin around in opposite directions at very high speeds. its like the kamikaze except with the cage like bullet cars, its not as tall, and it spins a lot faster. i know one fair that has it and thats McNair Amusements that operates out of Loganville, GA (right near me) and ive ridden it when they set up near a local mall. there could be sumthin else but they call it the bullet here.
