What is your favorite tower or drop ride?

My personal favorites are Tower of Terror (Florida Version) for theme and Power Tower (Turbo Drop Side) for thrill and view.

Haven't we discussed this before?

Hellevator at SFKK and I guess any other Intamin generation 2 freefall are pretty sweet. The portable Chance Mega Drops (apprx. 120 ft tall) are insane. My first experience on one of those was at a mid-size county fair in Mt. Clemens, MI, and I'll admit it scared me sh**less. I'm quite sure the ride operator had control over when the car would drop, I remember riding it several times and often we would be at the top for different intervals of time. The car also slipped a couple times maybe a few inches before it would ever fall. I'm sure it must begin braking earlier, but it feels and appears that it does all of its braking in the last 30 ft. I don't know if those brakes are magnetic like Intamin drops either.

It does seem like just yesterday. It was probably a different topic that got over run with the "best drop ride" conversation haha.

Anyways. Drop Zone PKD, and Acro are my favorites.

There were several other threads on this, like the S&S towers thread, or the intamin vs s&s and there were others i believe.

Dr. Doom and Tower of Terror are both highly themed, but I like Tower of Terror better. But I know if an Intamin freefall like Acropphobia or Drop Zone got built here, that would easily become my favorite.

I've only been on two. TOT and Scream. Scream was pretty cool, but I like TOT a lot.

^Man you really need to try a good ole intamin giant drop....then again I'd like to take an S&S tower for a spin to see what the differences between the two are.

PKD's DZ is tops on my list,followed by SFA's smaller giant drop tower.

PKI's Drop zone, Power Tower, and Big Shot on the Stratosphere.

DrDoom is the crappest tower ride I have ever been on. Fun = 0 on DrDoom..

The best drop tower I have been on is an ARM supershot drop tower.... (ride one.. you will know why...)

Acrophobia is hard to top, and I'm not just being biased.Tower of Terror has some amazing themeing though!

Drop Zone is the best by far. The anticipation of the drop as your circling around the tower is mind numbing. I cant wait to ride it again this spring.

big shot would scare the crud out of me just because it's so high..

mine would be TOT for just plain theaterical theming.. and mechanical marvals too..

but kennywood's pittfall gives you a huge thrill

1. Power tower: It's just so big.
2. Dominator (dp) the airtime at the top of the up one is like no other.

ToT, Acrophobia, and Drop Zone (PKD) i prefer free fall to space shots.

The best i've been on is riddlers revenge in madrid. Its almost identical to the knotts ride i think, but a bit longer (double drop - space shot and freefall in one ride sequence).

its something like 300ft high which is pretty scary, especially when the landscap is totally flat around.

power tower looks good but i don't see how it could be better than RR which is much taller, faster and longer.

My faves are 'Tower of Terror' and 'The Giant Drop' at Dreamword, Australia. They are the only ones i've been on, lol, but are great rides. T.o.T is an Intamin AG, Reverse Freefall coaster at 160 kph with six seconds of weightlessness. The Giant Drop lets you plummet 120 METRES (39 Storeys) at terminal speed and is the tallest free-fall ride in the world, the drop takes only five seconds. The best thing about these rides is that they share the same tower!

Well, I once rode this 50 foot tall drop tower at the AZ state fair, it was so crappy, but still pretty fun.
