DarKastle/Spiderman Spin-Off Idea

So, when Spiderman came out, it was hard to tell if any more would ever be built, but with the recent opening of DarKastle, it leaves hope. It got my creative juices flowing and I created a ride concept using the same ride vehicle/system for a Six Flags Park, specifically for SFA. So without further audiu, I present:

Road Runner Rally: An Original Ride Concept for Six Flags America Envisioned by Drew Winner

Overview: Road Runner Rally is an action packed adventure full of fun, laughter, and, of course, explosions for guests of all ages found exclusively at Six Flags America. Help Wile E. Coyote on his quest to catch the Road Runner using ACME’s all new ATV (Advanced Technology Vehicle), but be careful, the Road Runner is an elusive creature and will not be caught easily!

Ride Building Façade/Queue:
The main entrance to the ride would be located in the Coyote Creek section of Six Flags America. The outside of the building would be themed to look like the ACME product manufacturing factory with the background looking like a scene from the American Desert as typically seen in the Road Runner cartoons. In the outside portion of the queue would be many large crates with the words “ACME” printed in large red letters on the sides. Once inside the building, guests would meander through the “ACME Product Museum” which would include many items from the cartoon displayed on lit platforms in an otherwise dimly lit room. Such items could include the Cactus Costume, Earth Quake Pills, Jet Propelled Unicycle, and Invisible Paint. Guests would than be led into the “Mission Briefing Room.” Inside would be a large machine/computer on the wall with the words “ACME ATV Remote Control Consol” written across the top. On the opposite side of the room is a huge crate with the words “ACME ATV” written across the sides. When the room fills with guests, the room dims and the pre-show begins.

Pre-show/Loading:
As the lights dim, the following is seen on the monitor:
(“Establishing Remote Connection… Please stand by…”)(Those words clear from the screen and are replaced with the direct connect link to Wile E. Coyote.) “Ahh, welcome, welcome everyone! I thank each and everyone one of you for joining me here at ACME Headquarters. With your help, I am sure that we can catch that Road Runner once and for all! Let’s get straight to business. The target, Road Runner. (Blueprint like schematics of the Road Runner appear on the screen with the words “Speediest biridicus” written beneath) An elusive creature indeed. Known for its amazing speed, the Road Runner can dash at speeds up to 100 mph and can stop on a dime. But, we have finally developed the tool to match this creature in both speed and intelligence. I introduce, the ACME ATV (The ATV is displayed on the screen). It’s the most advance product to come out of ACME in fifty years. Capable of reaching supersonic speeds, remote dynamite detonating devices, high-powered searchlights, anvil launchers, and the best suspension available, if the ACME ATV cannot catch the Road Runner, nothing can. And you, my lucky friends, will have the extreme honor of riding right on board in what I am predicting to be the first successful capture of a Road Runner in history! Where will I be? Well, as the brains of this operation, I will be controlling your vehicle from here at ACME headquarters, but not to worry, you’ll be completely safe. The tests of the ACME ATV have shown 53% reliability and here at ACME, a product with that high of reliability is a great product! In just a few moments we’ll be loading you into your very own ATV so we can begin the mission. Be sure to wear your safety goggles (3-d glasses shown on screen) at all times, just in case. We’re just finishing final check-ups on the ATVs and we’ll have you out in the desert in no time. Please stand by.” (The screen goes to fuzz, then turns off). The doors open into the main factory floor. On one end of the room is a set of double doors with the words “From ATV Inspection Zone” written above. On the other end is another set of double doors with the words “To the Desert” written above. Empty ATVs come through the first set of double doors, are loaded and are sent through the second set of double doors into “Scene 1.”

Scene 1:
Just beyond the doors a computerized voice is heard, “Communication Link Established,” followed by the voice of the Coyote. “Can, you hear me? Good, good. Well, lets get this mission started.” The car meanders around cactuses and such through a canyon floor. The car turns a corner to face Screen 1. There the Road Runner turns and faces the car (Meep, Meep), turns and dashes off the screen to the left. “Hurry, there it is! The chase is on.”

Scene 2:
The ATV turns to the left into a hallway with Screen 2 at the end. The Road Runner starts to dash away. “ATV Rocket Boosters, engage.” The ATV responds as wind begins to blow towards the riders simulating a high-speed chase. The ATV is actually moving relatively slow, but the combined speed of the wind, the sound effects, the movement of the ATV, and the 3-D images create the illusion of speed. Just as the ATV nears the Road Runner the rocket boosters sputter to a stop. The Road Runner stops to look back, then turns again to the left (Meep, Meep). “Well, we never expected to catch him on the first try anyways, but fortunately, he’s headed right into our trap!

Scene 3:
The ATV turns through a simulated canyon around corners and cactus. “Just up ahead… be very, very quiet.” A sign up ahead says “Free Bird Seed” and points to the right. The ATV turns right to face Screen 3. There the Road Runner is eating the birdseed in front of a huge pile of dynamite. “Remote Dynamite Detonation engage.” Nothing happens. “Remote Dynamite Detonation engage.” Nothing happens again. ”Remote Dynamite… why isn’t this working! ENGAGE!” The Road Runner finishes eating and darts to the right (Meep, Meep). “Argh, he got away again! But why didn’t this work?” The ATV gets closer and Closer to the screen. “But it worked just fine in testing, engage, Remote Dynamite Detonation ENGAGE!” The dynamite explodes sending the car into a spin into scene 4.

Scene 4:
“Is everyone okay? Well, we’re hot on the Road Runner’s trail now. As long as we have no more problems we’ll all be eating Road Runner steaks tonight!” The ATV is now facing the archway to a tunnel inside which is Screen 4. “Meep, Meep,” is heard from deep within the tunnel. “Ahha, we have it cornered!” “Meep, Meep” is heard again, but it’s slightly deeper and sounds like it’s coming towards the ATV. A light is seen in the tunnel getting larger and larger. “What in the world? ATV high-powered searchlights engage.” The lights come on just in time to see a large mack truck coming straight for the ATV. “Meep, Meep” is heard again now sounding more like a large truck horn. The ATV turns just in time to miss the car.

Scene 5:
As the ATV car turns the corner, it faces Screen 5 where the Road Runner is sleeping. “Lucky for us, the ATV comes with just the tool for this situation. Launch the Anvil at Full power, engage!” The anvil is seen launching straight up, as it’s up in the air, the Road Runner awakes and wanders off. “Well, where’s the anvil?” (Falling object sound) The anvil lands right on the front of the car (think of Spiderman jumping onto the car in the ride of the same name). “Well, that was close, but not too close to stop us!” The car turns another corner into Scene 6.

Scene 6/unloading:
On the Screen 6 ahead, the Road Runner is facing away. The ground looks dusty. “Shh, we’ll sneak up behind him.” The ATV slowly moves closer almost in a tiptoe motion. “Almost, almost, NOW, release the net! Net, Engage!” (Computerized voice) “Access denied” The Road Runner Meep, Meeps, and runs off clearing away the dust in the process. In doing so, it’s seen that he was on solid ground, while the ATV was hovering in mid-air. “Uh, oh, this doesn’t look good.” The ATV points down slightly showing a large drop. “Umbrella, Engage!” (Computerized voice) “Access denied” The ATV starts its simulated fall with appropriate motions and sound effects. “Parachute, Engage!” (Computerized voice) “Access denied” (Coyote Voice) “Hang On!” The ATV lands with a thud. “Just my luck, we should have tried the Acid Spray up there when we had the chance.” (Computerized voice) “Acid Spay Engaged” The car is misted with a burst of mist. (Coyote) “Acid Spray off! Well, it looks like we’ll need to take the ATV back for repairs, but someday we’ll catch that Road Runner, just not today! Ohh well, thanks for your efforts anyways, and don’t worry, that acid is only effective on Road Runners… I think… I guess we’ll have to check in on that. Well, you’re job is done, but I’ll be here until I catch that Road Runner, so come back soon. We are always in need of test dummies... err, I mean volunteers, for our new products!” The ATV reenters the ACME factory where the cars are unloaded. The unloading zone looks a lot like the loading zone, just smaller. Two sets of double doors allow the ATVs to go from the unloading zone into the loading zone without the opposite zone being able to be seen.

I'd love to hear all your opinions on the ride. I've also included a rough (very rough) ride layout in the pic below. Enjoy!

Six Flags... and I know you read these boards... if you honestly want this concept, be my guest to take it! My only requirements, I get a lifetime season pass in return and I get to be on the first ride. I'd prefer it be built at SFA (as it's my homepark), but if you're honestly going to use my idea, I guess you could put it at whatever park needs it the most, just as long as I still get into the media day and the lifetime season pass!

Wow. This is an amazing concept.. 2 things though

1. Perhaps it could be placed in the Loony Toons Section and marketed as a family ride? Coyote Creek is kind of crowded.. the theme would match excellently though.

2. I didn't know that Wile E. Coyote could talk.. I need to watch more cartoons....

Anyway, EXCELLENT idea and I love how thorough you are. Keep up the excellent work.

Wile E. Coyote does talk, rarely, but he does. In the 1961 pilot for a potential television anthology series (but later released as a theatrical short entitled The Adventures of the Road-Runner—later edited and split into two short subjects called Zip Zip Hooray! and Road Runner A-Go-Go), Wile E. lectures two young TV-watching children about the edible parts of a Road Runner, attempting to explain his somewhat irrational obsession with catching it. He does so with help from an illustrated chart showing each section of the bird and its flavor. Post-Chuck Jones cartoons also allowed the coyote to speak. Here is a great page on the Road Runner and Wile E. Coyote. The rules Chuck Jones set for the show are all pretty interesting and funny in themselves. I'm pretty sure that for the most part I followed all the rules.

As for putting the ride in Movie Town... a good idea, just no room for a building of that size. Coyote Creek has MUCH more available space and the ride could even be built as an expansion past Mind Eraser on a path headed to connect near Batwing and complete the loop. But this thread is more about the ride itself and less about it's placement in any park.

Crap now that I think about it I do remember him talking once or twice..

And I didn't even think about a connecting path from Mind Eraser to Batwing, that certainly is a better idea than in Movie Town. I've only been to SFA about 3 times, but it definitely seems to be the worst dead end park I've ever been to, anything to remedy that would be welcomed with open arms.

Anyway as I said before amazing concept, and here's hoping Six Flags ponies up the cash and builds one in the near future.

I think it's a great idea and SFA would be silly not to consider it. I can't think of anything you left out.

Lol, Yeah it kind of does. Sound like a great idea. And I always thought it would be tight if you could include a slight drop or hill drop in the ride. It could go along with the scenes as you having to dodge something. It would be a cool element. It would just be cool, compared to the normal flat layout with the car doing everything.
