maXair downtime?

I was at Cedar Point on Monday the 23rd and maXair was down for a majority of the day. It ran consitently for about an hour in the early afternoon and then didnt run again until I was leaving the park at 8:30...no one was on it at this time. I'm just wondering from people that have been there multiple times this year if its a normal thing. I know a few bugs are to be expected but it hardly ran at all...

I walk past Maxair many times everyday. Occasionally I notice its down, but for the most part it runs pretty consistantly. My days are blurring together, but there was one day it was down for a long time. Must of been Monday.

Maxair is an awesome ride. I've been on delirium as well, but would still rate Maxair higher because it fits in real well at CP (and I'm a fanboy).

Standing I think its only like 80-90 ft or something like that, but at full swing its 137ft in the air, and reaches speed up to 72 mph.

Oh yeah, the huss frisbee is pretty much a cookie cutter design. CP didn't build the tallest or anything.

yeah but for some reason this one looks taller than delirium to me, and do you think all the kinks will be worked out by august or september?

I don't think there are any major kinks. Other than that one day its been running great. I usually see it testing when I come in for work around 8-8:30, and consistantly running through the day.

The only real kink I've noticed is its seems to take a longer than normal time to get the floors up and restraints open after the ride.

I didn't realize that the ride went over 70 MPH. That is freaking fast on a ride like that. I don't really care for flat rides.

Does delierium go over 70mph also? That seems awfully fast.

It sure does. When its in full swing and your going foward at the bottom of the swing you can def. tell its going 70mph+.

Yea, if you are sitting in the axis of the swinging motion at full swing you can tell you are hauling. You get the same face smearing effect as front seat on magnum or millie. (yes, i know millie is 93)

Love that ride...MaXair that is...love it.

I was also surprised when I heard that Delirium at PKI last year was over 70mph. I remember seeing a coaster/ride program on TV and they had a segment on it. Since I saw how it look, I've ben wanting to ride it. Most flatrides are simply just fun but usually lack thrills unless they're a re drop ride (but then again, calling a drop ride a flat ride sounds almost silly). This thing looks as thrilling as many big coasters. I can't wait to ride maXair in late June and Delirium in July.

If I recall correctly, maxAir is a Huss ride...but I really don't know if that matters at all. The Mondial frisbee at PCW, that along with all of the other Mondial flats in the park are quite prone to short spurts of downtime. From speaking with a friend of mine who was a rides manager at PCW, these flats have many sensors and that anytime a sensor is activated or detects a fault, the entire ride needs to be reset. Typically the types of faults are very minor (as no compomise to safety) and generally involve the ride not returning to exactly the same spot that the ride started (or so my friend tells me). I don't know if this even applies to maxAir but it may shed some light!

I'd say that maXair is as thrilling as a major coaster. People walk off it in a daze - it'll humble you.

On opening day maXair was down for about an hour at about 10:30, but was running wonderfully for the rest of the day. The problem on opening day was mainly due to sensors. Sometimes the ride wouldn't stop dead center over the platform (we're talking very small measurments, inches, cm, etc.), so the floor wouldn't raise and they would have to cycle it again. Other times it would stop perfectly, but the sensors weren't reading it right.

FYI you can find out information about both MaXair and Delirium in our database.

With that being said... I defiantly think MaXair is a thrilling ride. Its not quite as good as some of the coasters at Cedar Point but It's one of my top five rides at CP.

I rode the one at wonderland, and can safely say these rides are better than most coasters for g's and air time.

Well the one at Wonderland is not as high as the HUSS giant frisbees or the XL one if MaXair is even one.

I've been hearing that a lot of HUSS rides have been experiencing some downtime....

I was at CP last Sunday and maXair was running early then broke down and was closed all afternoon. It reopened (not sure how long) but closed again by the time we got there and was still closed when we left the park at 9.

Yeah on Delerium the wind rushing past you is intense.

Delerium was up and down most of the day I was there, but I still managed 2 rides on it at PKI.

It was running pretty smooth when we were up there for Coastermania weekend, I dont think there was any downtime if I remember correctly.

MaXair is actually 4 or 6 feet taller than Dilirium, I can't remember. Not really much of a difference, but it is the tallest frisbee. I've been on both, and they feel the exact some to me.

Talking MaxAir/Delirium

I visited both King's Island & Cedar Point 2 weeks ago. Delirium was not open bur MaxAir was. MaxAir was so cool, even tho the line was long & it broke down twice while we waited. I have heard Delirium has a larger arc of motion, that the arm almost goes vetical = is that true ?

I'm guessing, but I assume that when fuzzybxxrs said "vertical", he meant he heard that it goes straight up. Meaning that the arm of it would swing to the point where riders are completely upside down, 180 degrees.

maXair has not had much downtime for the past few weeks, at least from what I've seen.
