Parasailing?

Have any of you parasailed before? I'm thinking about doing it. How does it compare to coasters?

My aunt and uncle have done it before and they said it is pretty cool. I wanted to do while I was on a cruise but I didn't get to. Umm, parasailing and roller coasters are two very different things. They don't compare to each other besides a "thrill"

I went parasailing in Maui, and it was AWESOME!. You go on this tiny boat with a deck, and a 800 foot (varies) cable will let you fly. I remember the ascent in the parasailing. I kept going higher, and higher, and higher, till I eventually got to the top. Its scary up there, but awesome at the time. You get this wierd feeling. I could see EVERYTHING, and the scariest thing that made you realize how high you were, is the size of the boat. It was a spec with a small water trail. It was awesome, and I will remember it for a while.

Does it compare to coasters? Its a different type. The closest thing is a drop tower, cause you're high up, your feet dangle, but you luckily don't just straight up drop. Its a very different type of thrill, but it is a awesome experience, if you have the chance to do it, go for it.

I went parasailing once before in florida at 900 feet and its fun. You are attached to a harness which is hanning from a metal bar you can grab on to. I was standing on a deck on the back a boat with two other people. Its a great view . There is no feeling of loosing your stomach so i dont think you could compare it to any thrill ride.

I think parasailing is alot of fun. You are way up in the air with nothing but a small worn looking harness that you just kind of sit in. The openness of the harness can be a little unnerving at first as you rise up in the sky. The ride experience is relaxing and a very enjoyable one. Its not intense you just kind of float around and you get a great view of the area. I also like Hot Air Balloon rides which are fun too.
Here is a photo off the internet of a view from a parasail ride click for a pic .

Haven't been parasailing. I have, however, been tandem paragliding. That was awesome. Especially running down the mountainside and then just taking "flight." The really fun part was when the guy started doing sharp turns and twists.

I'd do parasailing in a heartbeat.

I have a friend who did it and he was horrified to see from above that in the ocean under him there are some sharks . He was so afraid to fall into the water and was panic. End of story nothing happened to him but this is a real horror story in my opinion. However for me just the fact I will have to be in deep water is enough to make sure I will never ever do it .

i went parasailing in Eilat, Israel. its not as thrilling as it looks, all you do is sit there and hang around. it can get very cold up there if you are wet though. also, the guy that i went with would bob me in the water a few times to make it a little more fun. i posted a picture of me a while ago in the "coasterforums member pictures thread" so you can go look through the hundreds of pages if you want.

I live on Lake Huron so the option is always there, and people do it all the time but it really doesn't look too exciting to me. I've talked to a few people that have done it and none of them seemed to think it was that big of a thrill.
