Question Escape From Pompei

I will be going to BGW next Wednesday and I was just wondering how this ride is. It looks really cool from what I remember from TV specials and photos. But how wet do you get at the end of the ride? I want to ride it next week but I am going with people who do not like to get soaked. I will ride it either way, but I was just wondering.

I last went on it in 1999... And in the front seat I got wetter going off the lifthill (when the boat goes back into the water...) then I did at the splash down.

It's a great ride. The special effects and fire make it well worth riding.

I never get that wet, usually just like a fine mist sprayed on me that's about it.

Fun ride, cool effects too. Every effect isn't always working though, but most usually are. I haven't been on it in around 5 years though, so they may have fixed them all.

I especially like the fire effect where the flames climb the wall, and ignite the ceiling. Very hot in that spot though.

The drop was ok. Nothing special at all. The music leading up to the drop is cool though. With the way the boats are designed, you don't get too wet on the splashdown. The bottom of the front of the boat makes most of the water spray to the sides, unlike most similar boat rides where the water shoots up in front of the boat, and soaks the passengers. Plus, since there isn't a bridge over the splashdown, there isn't any water falling ontop of you like there would be on those with bridges.

The ride is short, BUT i think it really depends how wet you get. For example, these people that rode right before me got off and were really mad because they didnt get wet at all, and they demanded to get on again!!, but i got soaked so it really depends. Also the special effects are really good.

its a really fun ride and the theming is great! it was probably BGW's first really heavily themed ride like that w/ alpie and darkastle to follow. the inside of the building is a lot of fun and in some places intense. the ride is a little short but still worth riding. its especially fun after you've gone through the building and get to a dark room and all of a sudden these doors swing open to reveal the drop and you go down. i would say you get the wettest in the very last row because when the wave goes up it kinda goes over the whole boat and lands on the back row. you also get pretty wet in the front. if you're looking to get a little wet but not soaked sit in the very middle, i think its the fourth row, but im not sure. anyways its a good fun ride and i hope you enjoy your day at busch gardens! be sure to write up a TR.

It OK. I didn't get wet at all. The fire really is BURNING hot even though you're on a water ride. It was too hot. The special effects are good also.

Alright, lotsa wet, non wet stuff here. Ima clarify it. depending on how full the boat is, you could get wet or not. If the boat your in is half full and up, your gonna get drenched. If it only has a few people in it, and is not even up to half full, all your gonna get is a fine mist, unless if your sitting on the side, where you'll get some of the the water from the lake spraying into the side of the car. If the front is heavy enough, the boat will tip down into the initial plunge of the conveyor, and get your feet soaked. If not, nothing will happen. How do you judge the ride on weight/fill capacity. Just take a guess, you'll get it right.

I didn't ride this when I went last year because I didn't want to get soaked but I still wanted to ride it since I knew it had great effects. But I never did ride it. :-/

The ride itself is a normal layout with a heavily themed building at the turnaround.

cool, its fairly easy to figure out the makers of coasters but rides like that seems more difficult. Thanks.

Well, Its not all too hard to figure out, especially since Intamin has there name on a small metal plate screwed in to each of the boats on the back of seats.

I only got a little wet, but the boat I was in wasn't very full. I sat in the front and ducked my head down way inside the boat once the splash down happened.

Don't go on escape from pompei with ANY kind of high expectations of fun. Some of the fire is ok, the drop is... meh, in my opinion. Its a desent water ride, just don't get too pumped for it, and don't wait in line at all, as you could spend you're waiting time for pompei in line for/riding AC or Alpengeist.

Yeah the drop isn't that great. The inside effects are cool though. Generally people seem happy when leaving the ride. I've been to the real Pompeii several times, and also Vesuvius and Herculaneum (I lived in Naples Italy for 3 years) so it was also cool to compare the real thing to the ride.

Unhappy

I NEVER even got to ride it! It started storming at 4:30 that day and the whole park shut down until after 7:30. I had not ridden AC OR Alpie so I went and rode those while the rest of my family waited on me at the front of the park. The park being 8 hours or more away from me, I felt the coasters were more important this time around. I can get free tickets again next year so I hope to get my dad to go with me next summer. Escape from Pompei will have to wait. Kudos to BGW for giving out rain date tickets to their customers to come back. I would have liked to come back the next day but we were on our way to VA Beach.
