being Secured in ride

im not sure if this is just minnesota but in minnesota ive been on alot of rides where they dont check to see if your restaints are secured like i know at camp snoopy they just have you raise your hands on the mighty axe so they can see them and then send u off. Same thing with valley fair they do that alot on their upside down rides. They didn't on my most recent visit but last year at valley fair they did not check me or anyone once on any ride i went on to see if the restraints were secured and locked down and its even worse at the minnesota state fair. Anyone else have these experiences or is this only in minnesota?

I never knew that, More park need that rule. I know how to check my own restraint. Not checking speeds of the process.

Yea im nots sure if thier is any minnesota laws regulating operations of rides and amusement parks. Maybe it was just my experience cause ive had alot of bad experiences on rides like 3 years ago at the state fair we went on the twister and me and my cousin shared a car and guys jsut came around and looked quickly and then started the ride and as it started to spin we pushed up the latch bar and it opened but we were able to slam it back down and it finally latched in before the ride started cranking up in the air. That was the same ride we got two free rides from cause we wanted to get off and teh guy was like sit down and stay so we got another ride cause we pissed him off. that was also teh same ride my cousin lost all his money cause it spinned out of his pockets.

All the rides i've been on they have always checked before take off. If they forgot to check i would ask them to check mine. I'm so tiny that if the thing came undone i wouldn't be able to hang on for long if at all.

That's weird. At EVERY single ride I go on they check the seat belts and the bar/restraint/watev. I was sure that it was some kind of unanimously accepted policy in all parks. It's in their interest to not get people ejected...

They restraints on the Mighty Axe come down by themselves, do they not? If so its automatically locking you in, and they can see that all the restraints are locked on their panel or the side of the ride.

The restraints on mighty axe come down by themselves I am pretty sure, which means that they don't have to check if they are down correctly, it is just like that on Top spins.

If its like eldorados restraints at Geauga Lake, then they dont need to check cause it will come up on a control panel if one isnt locked right

What in the world are you talking about? All of the Intamin hypers have basically the same systems, and I can assure you that there is no way to check to see if the restraints are locked unless you manually check them.

At Cedar Point the only coaster where they do not check restraints is Disater Transport, they do them visually. And Maxair does have a computer system to let them know if the harnesses are locked or not, but they still go around and check them TWICE.

^ Guess you missed all the news about them completely redoing those restraints, and the systems to check to see if they're down. I've heard several reports now that among the changes is a verification in the computer that the restraints are locked, similar to what the B&M coasters have been doing for a long time. All the operator has to do is look at his panel on a B&M and it will tell him which seats' restraints aren't locked down. Even then, they'll still check it. Far as I understood, they had put in a similar system onto the SROS' because of the accident a couple of years ago.

Seems odd that they wouldn't check the restraints, even if the computer told them it was ok. I know that is absolutely not permissible under any circumstances, ever, at BGT.

supposedly they had just a little belt or something to check how low it had to be

At Mt. Olympus, it was faily often that they did not check restraints. I don't know if they're not required to by management or if they simply were neglecting to since a few of their coasters are operated by just one person. Maybe they think who's there to notice if they are or not? I don't the answer to that. I still found it surprising and a little upsetting that they don't. It's just asking for an accident to happen. That's the one thing that did bother me about Mt. Olmpus was their obvious lack of professionalism on part of many of their workers. Not all, but many.

I suppose it is possible, but I still don't understand how if the change was mandated was Intamin it wasn't across the board. Millennium's computer can detect nothing about the restraint system. With the hydraulic lapbars I'm not even sure how such a system could work. The ratcheting systems on the Huss flats and B&M's, sure, a cpu would work, but with the Intamins it would be tricky...
