Cliff Jumping

Hey, I just went on a raft trip yesterday and thought it was pretty fun, but the icing on the cake was when we pulled around the bend and saw this.

It was me and my friend so while he scoped out the water for depth and rocks, I found a way up to the top. From the ground, we guessed it at 40', but once your up there and you look over the top, you'd swear twas 60'. He said it was fine so I sat on the edge for a minute or so then stood up, counted to three, and jumped. I couldn't breath or even scream all the way down. It was awesome! I hit the water and curled up, popped out of the water and screamed. The rush is so awesome. IDK if pot can beat this! We spent 2 or so hours just jumping off this thing. Eventually we had quite a crowd there. One guy was in his 60's and jumped!

Have you guys ever done this kind of thing? I'm sure base jumping is much better but for now, this is good enough for me! How high would you say the body can handle? I wound't jump from over 75' I think. It didn't hurt when I did it at 40' but twice that I'm sure it would.

I remeber that at this one mini waterpark I went to, there were two things, they weren't quite water slides, just slanted, slippery platforms, where you just slide down, and the little platforms were 30 and 45 feet off from the surface of the water. So it was like a drop slide, but rather than it throwing you out, you would just fall into the pool below.

That's cool how you found that cliff. Near here there isn't much like that, but about 40 minutes away I could find that type of jump. of course, make sure you don't get too carried away with the thing, you don't wanna ned up like this:

I've Cliff Jumped before. About a year ago in PA. It is a really big adrenaline rush. It seems like you just keep falling. the cliff I jumped off was 52 feet.

I've always wanted to bungee jump and sky dive.

Meow, I've seen that video before, crazy! I think he broke a couple bones. We did find a rope like that though it wasn't quite that high. More like the ones you see in the country movies. It had loops like the one in that vid but we made sure to hold the rope lower down after we remembered that video.

I've jumped off a cliff that looks around the same height at Lake Powell. I also spent about 2 hours running up and jumping down!! That water doesn't look too deep in the photo...

I've jumped off 10 metre diving boards at swimming pools regularly as well, and it's amazing how high they actually are and how long it takes to splash into the water.

I'm not sure how you can tell depth from a photo angle like that but it was deep. We went down never thouched once. It was way over 12 feet. The area surrounding was not deep though. The area we were in was cove-like and very deep. As soon as you got into the river again, it was shin deep. The highest board I've been off was 20' so this was twice that. Highest I've ever jumped period.

I just went cliff jumping at Lake Dale Hollow (Kentucky/Tennensse boarder). The cliff I went off was about 60ft and it was amazing! It was so exciting I did it twice. You can feel and hear the wind go by you and it was better than ANY ride I've been on. It doens't hurt as long as you point your toes and put your arms to your sides (basically a pencil jump). It makes me want to parachute and bungee jump so much more.

I cliff jump every year when we go down to Table Rock Lake. There are natural "platforms" at about 15 ft, 20 ft, 25 ft, 35 ft and 45 ft. The 45 footer you have to jump over a small shrub and another ledge, so its kinda scary going off that one. Also i dove one time, and im never doing that again because that was really scary (of the 35 footer) and on that same cliff my brother did a flip, it was insane.

Last year, summer of 04, we went and when we got back from cliff diving we found out someone died on another cliff about 5 miles down the lake. That cliff was like 60 ft tall and the guy landed on his stomach, they think he died instantly. That kind of scared us, but didn't discourage us from goign back this year.

The lake was between 100-300 ft deep, i think there may have been caves underneath that made our depth meter on our boat go crazy.

I saw it but didnt try and will ever try. I am too afraid for suck stuff. And besides there are many place in which this jumping are very dangerous. In here (Israel) someone died from cliff jumping. You should know how to jump and if you fall on rocks you are doomed.

I've never cliff jumped like that, but I have skydived. There's not really any cliffs like that around here I don't think. Looks like a pretty good rush to me!

Alon, we "survey" the area around where we jump. Going under water and down until we can't breath then coming back up and moving a foot over to do it again. Don't know if its what your supposed to do, but we've not had an incident yet.

Lance, its amazingly fun and thrilling. Its only a 40-45' drop but man it seems so much more. I guess the closest theme park thrill comparable to it is the skycoasters but even that doesn't have the same feeling. There you get pulled out, on the cliff, you hit the water. Plus you don't feel secure and you think of all the things that could go wrong, oddly, that makes me go back up and do it again.

Thumbs up Cliff Jumping

I jumped from this cliff in Sweden. We kind of walked onto this area that was an industrial area and therefore off limits and were able to jump for 2 weeks before they put out security guards at the entrance. I have no idea how high it might have been but it sure gave you a great rush. I am inside the yellow circle (kind of hard to see, LOL).
It was a great thrill although it took me a few tries of climbing up there before I finally jumped.
