Thumbs up My incident on the Wildcatter...

Here I am giving my report about the incident I had on the Wilcatter at SFoT on NazNite (the night where all the Nazarenes (it's a Church denomination- mine) from Louisiana, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Texas come together at SFoT). It's very interesting. For all of you who don't know, the Wildcatter is an Intamin AG Freefall thingy, you know the old ones where you end up on you're back. Anyways, we had just got into the park and were near the Wildcatter (like 50 ft. away) and we ran into some good friends. I had my friend Amanda, my sister, and 2 of my pastor's daughters with us, and me and Amanda decided to go ride the Wildcatter. We get off, everything went smooth, and it was awesome. So our friend's wife decides to go on it with the 2 other girls and my sister. So me and Amanda decide to go again. Why not? So they went right before me and Amanda. We get to the top, and I count to 3, and guess what...it breaks down! The luck of us. So we don't know that it's broken down. We just thought it was stopped because the cars were backed up or something. But no. So this guy named Clark came up and told us that he didn't exactly know what was wrong but that it was definitely broken down. So he stayed up there with us the whole time. So we were up there about 10 minutes and then I look through the floor and there's my mom. I cried, "I love you mom!" About 20 minutes later a mechanic comes up and asks us if we want to be dropped or climb down. We decided to be dropped. Bad idea. We waited there another 5 minutes and I begin to say, "So Clark I'm gonna mail Six Flags a good re...(sound of screaming)" I was in the middle of telling Clark that I was gonna give Six Flags a good report about him. But instead I got to the re.. and then we dropped. Without notice. Just like that. In the blink of an eye. So we're on our backs when this lady comes walking by and says that it's in manual and that they had to let us out right there. So they undid the harnesses and we got to step on the track and walk on the catwalks and even walk in restricted area! This was a really amazing experience. Amanda was kinda mad, but I was able to get it out of her that it was pretty cool. So that's my report of the Wildcatter at SFoT.

That would be pure hell not knowing when you were gonna fall. From what you said it sounds like Demon Drop or Mr. Hyde's Nasy Fall.

Well don't you not know when you are going to fall on a free fall ride anyways? lol I am just messing I know what you mean. You have been up there for like 15 minutes and don't know when you are going to fall back down.

Yeah it sounds just like a Demon Drop. If it is....I love those rides.
Sounds like a cool experience. It may sound weird but I always love it while rides break down when I'm on them. I don't know why. lol I would love to experience a TTD rollback. Oh man!! I've seen one in person but thats no good.

Yeah it is like the Demon Drop and those things. It was funny because we got all relaxed and then we all of a sudden dropped. It was cool though. lol.

That would have been so scary!! I always feared being stuck at the top of a ride like Acrophobia when the power went out for 8 hours and without warning just dropping. 7 sec is suspenseful enough imagine not knowing when it would drop for 8 hours!!

It's a the first ever first generation freefall and it's not a rare thing for it to stop at the top of the elevator lift.

Here is a picture that I took of Wildcatter: http://www.sfot-source.com/galleries...lbum=4&pos=114

I never had Demon Drop stall at the top for me, but in '99 I had a ride in which the car overshot the brakes. Luckily the e-brakes caught us before our car became a flying massive mauling mailbox. My father and I were stuck on our backs for about 20 min. I remember asking the maintanence worker if there was any manual way to release the restraints. His response: hmmmyeahmmmhahm . . . electrocution . . mhenmahyhehmmmm.

i was at the park once and a power thing blew up. the whole park lost power. all coasters on the lift stopped, FreeFall was stuck right before it dropped (FreeFall is like the Wildcattter and Demon Drop) acrophobia too stopped at the top for almost 2 hours. it was on the news later that night. i unfortunately know how it feels to be stuck on that. we were stuck for about 20 minutes, then it took 5 minutes to get to the bottom, it descended sooooo slowly. i was so freaked out i started crying, haha i didnt ride it for a year... top scared. i always get nervous before riding acro just becuase of that.

Can you say not relevant?

We're talking about Intamin 1st gen. freefalls and you bring up a hyper coaster. Talk about random.

I have gotten stuck on FreeFall at SFoG, but it was on the upper brake run shortly after the drop, not directly before the drop.

Wildcatter breaks down if someone so much as looks at it the wrong way. That ride's got a lot of problems, but it is one of the better rides in the park (definately better than that POS STOP).

Yeah, got that right. STOP isn't horrible, but if you're looking for thrills its not a great ride. For viewing the area and getting a whisp of fresh air, its a pretty good one.

I've always liked getting stuck on rides. Adds to the thrill the next time you ride them. One of my good friends got stuck on the Tower of Doom at SFEG once for 20 min. He got sunnburned. It was a tad funny, but he didn't like it. Hmmmm, sounds like fun. just out of no where falling. awesome.
