If its the same thing as Chaos at Cedar Point then I have ridden one. They are fun but not as intense as the standard Zipper at carnivals

yep, I wasn't meaning it to be an insult, it was a short post that just seemed like spam. If you want other people's opinions, ASK.

I've never been on one and their not the same as Chaos, rumor has Kennywood getting a Power Surge next year, it's an inverted Sizzler-type ride(or for you RCT gurus Scrambled Eggs) that's made by Zamperla. Kennywood will probably get one due to their new found relationship with Zamperla.

Natelox...I have ridden a PowerSurge....I rode the one on Casino Pier in Seaside Heights, NJ. This was the first ever, and I LOVED it! It is one of my favorite flat rides! It is nowhere near as nauseaing as it looks, and there is nothing like seeing the beach and ocean flip around while you are sitting in a little, teeny tiny seat with your life being held in by some little OTS restraint.

Maryland State Fair Acc'd

Don't know if anyone heard yet...but there's been an accident at the Maryland State Fair with the new "Power Surge" ride made by Zamperla. No one was hurt, but the riders were stranded in the air for 1.5 hours after the ride developed a power problem, ironically. They got the passengers down by releasing the hydraulic fluid, and they're still not sure what caused the ride to stop. If anyone's seen this ride, then you know it's just INSANE - but then again, I've never been a big fan of this sort of flat ride.

Just an update on this story...Zamperla has been out to the ride site and are currently investigating what went wrong. The ride made some test runs today, but Maryland State officials will not allow the ride to reopen for the duration of the fair. The fair ends September 3rd.

Yes, the Zamperla Power Surge is one HELLUVA ride! I rode it at Casino Pier in Seaside Heights, NJ, and I loved it! There is nothing like watching the Atlantic Ocean and the boradwalk flip around while you're held in by nothing but an OTS restraint in a small chair! Sweet ride. At least no one was hurt.

That is rather funny, though, how they released the hydraulic fluid to get them down even after what happened on S:ROS. Strange.

If you let the fluid out slowly you can regulate the "ride" down

Compared to that, the Zipper is alot more fun since your car spins freely and you can control it.

I would love to ride one. Does anyone have any pictures of this ride? I remember seeing a picture of it from IAAPA but I don't know what it does really.

Nothing wrong with opening up an old thread, as I went on my first Power Surge over the weekend at Wild Adventures in Valdosta, Georgia. I must say that while the ride LOOKS impressive, I wasn't all that impressed with its feel. Very similar to Chaos, though with your legs dangling you get a bit more freedom and that "open air" feeling. Not bad overall, but I wouldn't exactly rave about it. To each his own!

The capacity doesn't look too good however. How many people can that model in the photo hold? Some Zamperla rides have different capacities for a particular model. Does this one?

24 is the standard capacity (6 arms with 2 cars / arm, each car seating 2 riders), and that's the capacity of both the photo and the one at Wild Adventures. Not sure if they come in different sizes, but the ride is rather short and moves like any flat ride, really, in terms of capacity.

I think what your a thinking of is Energy Storm3. It's another ride built by Zamperla and is pretty much what you said: an inverted scrambler. The power surge is a different ride.

I attached a picture of an Energy Storm3 to let you see what it looks like.
