I prefer Borg Assimilator over S:UF at SFGAM (my only 2 flyers) for these reasons:
  1. S:UF ruins the sensation of flight. First time riders get a real thrill when Borg flips them over 110' in the air. S:UF tilts you up in the station (*yawn*).
  2. S:UF's Pretzel owns anything on a vekoma, but the vekoma layout is better overall.
  3. The 180 degree flip overs are actually quite fun on a vekoma. A B&M is too smooth, and dosen't ever give you this 'out of control' feeling.
  4. Borg's first drop is steeper than S:UF's
  5. Borg's theming is better, and the overall ride location is superior.
  6. You get a better view going up borg's lift.
  7. Borg's Corkscrews are better than S:UF's 'In-line twist.'
  8. Borg is the smoothest vekoma ever (nothing to bang your head in to).
  9. Borg has prettier colors.
  10. Borg is in my homepark.

11. Borg has you ducking over and around midways, water, and its own island
12. Borg's loop is much more intense then anything on SUF, and is awesome [edit: except for maybe the pretzel.. but a pretzel can't push suf above borg..]
13. Borg's name is so much cooler and more original.. lol
14. borg excerts several more g's then suf
15. borg has more inversions...

anyone else care to add on??

I'll try

16) Borg's trains rattle worse than my grandmother's teeth.

17) Borg feels as slow as driving by a pre-school.

18) Borg's corkscrews feel like the bolts are comming loose.

19) Borg blinds you with so many views of the hot sun, you need sunscreen to ride it.

20) Borg has worse capacity than X (and that's saying alot).

21. #17 has gotten alot better over the past 2 years, as the paint has worn off the rails.
22. #s 16 and 18 are improved upon if you ride in a middle seat.
23. Stop whining about #19. Who doesn't need a tan?
24. Carowinds runs borg to its maximum capacity. I'd like to see six flags do that.
25. Borg has a sphere. Superman has dirt.
26. There aren't 30 gazillion coasters name "Borg Assimilator"
27. Borg isn't a clone.
28. Borg is getting an ACE plaque in about 10 years.

Borg is Stealth. It's just been relocated and dressed up a bit, so it still counts in my book. It started the whole flying thing, just not where it is now.

Ok guys.

Enough of the debate on Vekoma or B&M or the mods will shut down this thread.

We're WAY off topic.

Has anybody been on the Volare coasters? I don't hear much about them. Or...is there maybe a reason I don't hear much about them?

As for Tatsu, something interesting that hasn't been confirmed by the park yet or by any park-supervisors or staff is where the ride's queue entry will be. A lot of local enthusiasts are suggesting that the queue entry will actually NOT be at the top of Sumurai Summit, but across from Roaring Rapids -- which is really odd and doesn't "fit" if it holds to be true.

^I have wondered a bit about that myself, but I have not heard anything at all besides what you just said. I just assumed the possibilty of this spot,
http://www.coasterrealm.com/pictempl...01282006&pic=7
I don't recall what that is there for though. Where does/did that lead? Orient Express?

Will there be any gardens replacing what was pulled out for this project?

/\ Pertaining to your question regarding the Japanese Gardens, probably not...there's just no more adaquete room for another one up on the Summit. It's these nice small touches that have disappeared one after another from the park over the past 20 or so years...

What a shame. That was something very nice and unique about MM. I thikn we will however see more landscaping throughout the park with Shapiro. Hopefully Tatsu will have some nice oriental greenery around it.

You know, you're right. Nobody is completely non-biast. However, your stance in this Vekoma Flying Dutchmen vs. B&M Flyer argument is clearly the epitome of biast. Don't argue. Just think about it, for a second. The list you gave for pro-Vekoma Flying Dutchman is ridiculous. Some of your examples have nothing to do with the ride itself.

Here's a couple of pics from today:

As you can see the Horseshoe is done:

It's a real mess of track now!

I also noticed the Sky Tower elevator was in operation again today.

I can't wait until they get the pretzel done! That will make a huge difference on the mountain side. Thanks for the pics Robb! We never get to see Tatsu in the middle of the week.

I hope they get the Sky Tower operating and safe soon, so we can get some more great angles shots of Tatsu from on top of it.

Tatsu is looking great and going up quickly. The ariel pics are amazing. I even love the detail work on the footers.

It's even good to see Revolution getting a very much needed coat of paint.

I can't believe i just said so many good things about a SF park.

I look forward to getting a closer look at the ride in person; the last time I was at SFMM they only had the lift and drop complete, and the best views I was able to get of both were from the lift on X. Haven't been since they reopened the pathway, and I would not be surprised if both the Rapids Camp pathway as well as the path up to Ninja are open by this coming weekend. It will be interesting to see if the ride's circuit is completed by the time of the West Coast Bash/Solace event; my guess is that they most likely will have at least the Pretzel Loop finished if not the entire thing, if they continue at the pace they have been.

So Colossus vallied? What spot on the ride would it be most likely to do that? It seems like it could in a lot of spots if you ask me. I'm glad to continue seeing a lot of improvements around the park. I can't wait until that pretzel goes up on Tatsu!!

i was working but everyone in the park heard about it. the train valled right after block break.they were doing the morning block check (thats when you try to override the computer and attempt to crash trains)and the train stoped at block break.when they had reset it the train dropped off and caught 3 rollbacks on the next hill and the rollbacks failed and caused the train to valley at the bottom of the drop.
here it isVVVVVVVVVVVVVV

Tatsu is coming alonhg great, and I can't believe how quickly they're puting it up! On the Collosus issue: Maybe they'll take out that horrid block brake section....well, I have an update too.

Although this is not official, they are estimating that the Xtreme Pass dates will start at about April 15, meaning that we'll probably see the roller coaster up by the end of march.

Notes: For those of you that don't know, Xtreme Pass holders are being let on for 4 pre-release tatsu dates this year.

So Cal people are so lucky to get this awesome addition totheir coaster counts. I can easily go to San Diego, but that's a 3 hour drive from SFMM, and my grandma wouldn't do it for anything. I mean, I felt bad enough asking her to drive me to Knott's, and I'm happy if she takes me there or even a San Diego park, but man, the rest of you are lucky.
