Yes they do own Kingsmill, but you know how it is, fighting inside companies, I did some research one day out of hatred for Kingsmill, to find out why they are the way the are, and, well, it's a long story. Augustus busch the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, one of 'em went there, and looked at the land around the area and decided to build a bud plant there, and had an idea about building another theme park there, similar to the BG park in tampa bay. He bought the Kingsmill company and pretty much nothing happened, except with the addition of the Budweiser name behind them, Kingsmill got richer and richer as BGW was being built, so that's the way it is.

ok guys, this is it, my final prediction, an what i really want and think is best for BGW. A highly themed, record breaking 150-200 ft floorless. We all know it, with the absence of DF BGW is missing a sit down looper. All I can hope is that we get an anouncement or some hints once the park opens late march.

^ I completely Agree, Not only does BGW need another Mega Looper to replace DF, but there is also no floorless coasters anywhere near BGW, so it will be a completely new and unique ride for the area.

I see them either adding a floorless or flyer. There's no B&M flyers in that area, there is the Vekoma one up at SFA, but that's about 2 hours away.

Either would be fine with me, I just wish they would do more theming. AC really doesn't have that much theming if you think about it.

I would like to see a coaster in ireland. I know there is no room but it could be awsome. I have heard that there might be a thought of a coaster coming to BGW in 2007. SO they might be making plans for one. I heard that rumor from a journalist so as far as i know i could be dead wrong.

Actually, isn't King's Mill on the other side of the park?

Drachenfire was over in Germany, behind Big Bad Wolf.

Ireland is the closest to King's Mill isn't it?
Actually Ireland is closest to the entrance to the employee parking lot, but behind drachen fires' footprint is the busch gardens construction gate road, which is next to one of Kings Mill's golf courses.

Now back on topic...

your right, AC doesnt have the best theming, but it just blends so well in the terrain, its gets away with it. The interaction with Roman Rapids, the parts going into the terrain vallies, and going over the river lets AC get away with the bland theming. I wish they would do something with the green tent. Paint it or something so it goes with roman theming. I know this will never happen bt I thought it would be cool the helix part was inside a Ruined Roman Colliseum.

Also look at Drachen Fire, it had no theming at all. It was pretty much just plopped on that vacant land. The glow in the dark trains were pretty much the only cool things. Drachen Fire was also the only BGW coaster not to go over the Rhine River, AC gets away with it on that little sliver it goes over, even though it does not go over the main river area.

I'm just waiting for another coaster to go with the other 4 superstar coasters we already have. I wouldn't have been renewing my season pass for the past 10 years if it wasnt for the quality in these spectacular rides. Coaster or not in 2007 BGW will not let us down, but i do have my fingers crossed for a flyer or floorless.

60 ft does not refer to the height of the attaction. The attraction needs a height permit because it will be at least 60 ft tall or more and the county needs to approve anything greater than that height.

FYI, the construction road is not next to a Kingsmill golf course. It runs right through the middle of the golf course. I drive it every day. There's a couple of major speed bumps at the golf cart crossing, and my car does not like them.

^ what's interesting is that it says the attraction is for new france and all along we've been saying it is for france. this could change our ideas of what it may be.

There's a nice pic of DF from back in the day on the LandMark Design Group site ... http://www.landmarkdg.com/Busch_Gard...itheater.shtml

But I can't find any other information on their site. They've done a lot of stuff with BGW, so at least it's a company with an established relationship.

I was on doing some research for Virginia Beach Gas Prices.com by looking for information on WaWa (the one opening soon in Churchland, across from Hall Nissan). I went to Chesapeake's Planning Commission site and searched for "WaWa".

After I finished that, I decided to take a chance by researching for any details on "Busch Gardens" on James City County's website.

Just simple website searching...sometimes you get lucky

Now do they mean "new" france attraction, or New France Attraction, because if this attraction is located in New France, it can change a lot of the speculation of theming and everything. But I guess all the marbles will spill on March 6th, thanks Steve for the link, it gives me something to look forward to.

Gladiator's Gauntlet was a ride located in Festa Italia and built at the opening of that section of the park around 1987. It was located just to the right of the end of the bridge entering Festa Italia and in front of the Teacups. It was a funky ride. This is not the best description, but basically it was a sled (like DaVinci's Cradle) supported by an arm on each end. The arms rotated independently 360 degrees so as to bring the sled up into the air and back in a circular motion. Since the arms moved independently, the sled was split into 2 parts, as the arms rotated, one side of the ride would rise (while the other stayed at ground level) and the sled would slide apart in the middle. Overall, the arms would rotate at different rates and cause this sled to tilt up and down to create a strange but fun ride effect. In terms of the seating, passengers were set 6 to 8 people per row and you were strattled in by a shoulder harness. I have no idea why the ride was removed except that it was a little rough and tended to have a lot of mechanical problems.

thanks tom, do you know where i can find a picture of the Gauntlet, or a picture of the ride system it used, im still kid of confused. Man i remember the good old days of Fiesta Italia when you had to cross that big bridge over the train tracks, and then they used to have that sweet ride "Sea Dragon", then when Apollo came they overhauled the whole area. Sorry im off topic, im just trying to get some Busch histroy, does anyone know about the Wildcat rollercoaster, or Glissadde, my dad has told me about them, but has anyone on the boards experienced these rides, thanks guys

Gladiator's Gauntlet was awesome even with zebra color paint scheme. Information on Die Wildkatze and Glissade can be found here http://www.rcdb.com/id1116.htm and http://www.rcdb.com/id396.htm.

I wish I knew where to find a pic of Gladiator's Gauntlet. I clearly remember the Die Wildkatze and Glissade. Die Wildkatze was replaced by the Big Bad Wolf in '84. It was shocking to see the Wolf go in at that time. I tought they were going to build an upside down coaster.

Its a shame some of those rides were removed from Festa Italia. I liked the Sea Dragons! Also, do you all remember the Catapult when it was in Hastings. That ride was so much fun when it was in the dark. It should not have been moved to where it is now in Germany. What ever happened to the Spider?

...sorry...off track...in regards to the new ride location in New France, there is some space I mentioned around the train tracks behind the ampitheater. There is plenty of room there for a coaster but the noise of it may distract any shows. I've tried going through some of JCC database...lets see what we can figure out come March.

I have never heard or seen one of those. too bad it didn't last another 2 years when I went up there for the first time as adult.

Oh well, another BGW ride bites the dust.

found this interesting post on another coaster forum

"I;m a ride and control operator at apollos chariot the other day i wen tto check out the old q house for drachen fire and found one of donnie mills (our gm) binders with palns dated on the 12 of july for locations of a drop coaster ive scanned the plans to my computer email me to see a look. ot may either take place of BBW of could be an expansion to "SWITZERLAND" this coaster wont be seen till 2007 but i promise you it is REAL!!!!!"

New France=Switzerland, BBW will never be torn down that is suicide, The James City County thing said New France Area. I have also hear rumors of New France being rethemed to Switzerland. it all fits, it already kind of has that rustin mountain feel to the area. New France is kind of out of theme if you think about it, and it does lack a major attraction, maybe we will have a sister snow monster to Alpengiest. I just want March 6th to come, i have been waiting so freaking long for a good decent new BGW attraction since AC, to me Darkastle was a disapointment, something i can only do once or twice a year, hopefully the improvments will be better, any one heard anything about a Switzerland

Not a thing over here, as for this insane ride op who thinks he's actually fooling somebody, it's just him fooling himself to think that he's fooling other people. First off, the GM just leaves his plans in the DF waiting line, wow, you must be some idiot to think people are going to fall for that.

New France+money+designs+ride= switzerland.

Maybe, now that I think about it, it might work, you could pretty much retheme everything, but Le Mans they may have some trouble with. Honestly I don't think they'll do it, but, since when have I ever said anything that BGW listens to, except, "Yeah, I'll buy the season pass."

^ they wouldn't have to retheme le mans since it is in aquitaine, not new france. now they wouldn't have any trouble retheming le scoot. that could easily fit in w/ a switzerland theme. but we don't even know if this is true. i saw that rumor posted last summer on themeparkinsider.com. i emailed that person about the plans but they never emailed me back so this could just be a flase claim.

Thats probably a false claim but a drop coaster seems very reasonable given the recent addition of Sheikra. However, if they build a drop coaster, I hope they make it longer and incorporate more loops.
