| Bell's deconstruction/ reconstruction.
It's been going on for months now, but the moving process is really underway now and the new location has almost been selected. Bell's is almost completely gone from their old home for 56 years, but we know now that it's legacy is far from over, as the park will re-emerge possibly as early as next season in full force. The new Bell's will have all the old favorites, but this time they will be in better shape than ever before, and to make it even better - at least 7 new thrills will be added. Even better still, Phantasmagoria will re-emerge twice the size as before and with new state of the art effects and theming. It'll be at least a year or two till we get to enjoy Bell's again, so for now all we can do is hound after the construction process, willing it to go faster. As of now, all the flats are long gone and in storage, as well as the smaller sky-lift (the larger model being sold to the fair). Following them is Zingo, the 1960's John Allen woodie, which is being carefully picked apart and stored to be re-built later. The log flume and Chili peppers are untouched so far, but work on them will start soon. I'll be attempting to get new photos as often as possible, but I live over an hour away, so I don't have many chances. Someday soon I hope to get some photos of the STAR Center in Sand Springs, which is rumored to be be the new Bell's location. Here are some pictures from just last night, sorry for them being so dark and crappy. I've got more here - http://www.superstevessupersite.com/...22_07gall.html |

^Hmm, according to that article, they still haven't confirmed a new location, but they did assure again that it will re-open in one. I don't get it... Sand Springs offered them land for free, and after over 4 months they still can't make up their minds. I guess they do still have some time at their disposal, but it's getting kind of ridiculous how they can't finalize their plans. This, to an extremely small degree, is what got them kicked off the fair grounds in the first place. Maybe once Zingo is down they'll get on the move with the new park. |

From what I have heard the new location is within miles of the old site. All the rides are being stored until they are ready to rebuild. There is another tread here on TN that has other photos taken by ZINGOMAN http://www.thrillnetwork.com/boards/...ighlight=Bells

^Eh? I wouldn't have even thought that possible, there aren't hardly any open spaces in tulsa for miles. Not to mention any large enough open space would probably be next to homes, bringing up the same old problems as before.

Thats what I thought, from what I have read and been led to believe that a possible new location is lets say within 10 miles of the park. I think the park maybe a bit smaller when redone. But I dont know for sure, just what I have heard or read from others that know more. Anyway I think within the coming year we will all here something as in an announcement of some kind as to the future or we will find a large for sale list of rides in Tulsa..

I got the chance to visit the park again this weekend, and I was pleased to see that they are moving right along. Zingo has been mostly untouched, but it looks like a few more cuts have been made in preparation for more track removal. The big difference this week was how much work has been done on the log flume. As I watched, workers busily ripped wood off and cut pieces off the trough. It doesn't look like it will be possible for the log flume to make it to the new park, but I'm sure something better will be built in its stead. The old carousel pavillion has also been removed, to be re-built later in the new park, and cranes were preparing to remove taller parts of Zingo and other taller rides and buildings in the park. I'm sure this week will see a load of changes done to the park. Here's a few pictures, I've got the rest here - http://http://www.superstevessupersite.com/park_galleries/bells/bells3_31_07/bells3_31_07gal.html |
