Question About Construction

Just curious since I've seen them constructing the Led Zeppelin Coaster at the new Hard Rock Park-

I am far from knowledgable like msot of you about inversions, lifts, etc., so I got to thinking. Companies like B&M (who are making this one). Is it there people who assemble the coaster or can any ol' construction company look at the blueprints and put it together?

Just a thought.

That's a good question. I think any construction company could piece something like this together, but I'm really not sure.

Generally on a B&M coaster. The coaster is assembled by steel erection companies. However there is a B&M engineer onsite trough out construction. Also the people that do the final tightening of bolts and other things are certified to do the specific job.

Cool! Thank you so much for that answer. Those stupid questions just rattle around in my head forever. BTW, there are picture posted on Discover Myrtle Beach of guys tightening the bolts. Are they the final guys to tighten them or does someone else come in to do it.

There's also a cool shot of the beams about an inch seperate while they tighten it.

The bolts are tightend most of the way when they hang the track and once adjusted they do a final tightening. Depends on what the schedule is on there construction. The final tightining is done once they are several supports and track down the line.

The guy watching is the guy that is certified. His job is to observe the final tightening of every bolt. He has to sign off the coaster as part of his certification.
The machine used to tighten the bolts is special made for steel erections. Its really cool to watch what they do and how they do things.

Thanks for giving an explanation; questions like these always linger in my mind all the time. I've always wondered whether or not they had special construction crews to assemble the coasters.

I've always wondered this to. This would be a good job for Mike Rowe for Dirty Jobs.

Oh god.

Now I'm actually entering the port-a-potty where the construction workers do their "business". Oh god it smells so bad!
