Canada's Wonderland 2008 Behemoth Construction Thread

Since it is all but official that CW is finally building a real coaster for 2008 its safe to start speculating on what kind it will be. Footers and land clearing has already begun behind sledgehammer and over the lake.
August 27 has been released as the official revealing date. What kind of coaster do you think it will be? B&M? Intamin? Chance Morgan? etc

My guess is an Intamin steel coaster sort of like Millennium Force because Millennium Force is a great coaster, easy to maintain, high capacity, and just a darn good ride.

I cannot see an MF style coaster at carowinds. I'm sorry I just can't. Maybe a smaller version no higher than 250 ft., but still, I'm seein more of a B&M being put in.

Canada Wonderland needs some love. I still need my park credits so any new additions before I ever go is welcomed.

Even a Chance Morgan like Superman in Mexico City would look really cool.

I am definitely curious as to the make and model of this coaster.

I was at the park today -- the construction site is HUGE. Lots of footers in the ground already.

A question I have, though ... how will it connect to the pathways? My first guess is that they will remove Orbiter to give the new coaster an access point to the pathway.

We're not talking about Carowinds...We're talking about Canada's Wonderland.

I also don't see them removing Orbiter, after it was said that CF saved it from the scrap yard, I don't see them taking it out.

My guess will be that they will make a pathway beside Sledgehammer or along kingswood. I highly doubt theyll remove Orbiter.

While I've never been disappointed by the coasters at wonderland this is a very welcome addition no matter if its a B&M or Intamin. Wonderland has always had a great variety of rides/coasters but a good flagship ride has been missing...i guess until now!

Maybe if it's a Floorless Dive Machine, it will be the long awaited Footloose

I'm leaning more towards a B&M than an Intamin by the looks of the footers. Only time will tell.

I'm hoping more for a hyper then a dive. I'm also hoping more for and Intamin then a B&M.

I'm hoping more B&M than Intamin! Either way, I'm sure I won't be disappointed on the outcome.

I'm gonna laugh when this turns out to be a 7000 ft. long Vekoma kiddie coaster.

Haha thats actually funny. When I think about it, I used to make some darn long "family" coasters on RCT ( like the ladybug ones). That would be interesting to see.

shouldn't they already have the coaster track at the park somewhere, cause if they do, they are doing a great job at hiding it.

B&M actual uses both round and square footers now. See the Patriot.

Aren't there round footers elsewhere on the site?

Yes there are. Check http://www.maj.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=150243 for the latest construction images. Here's some pictures of round footers on the construction site:
http://www.maj.com/gallery/gpn1975/g...st_1st_006.jpg
http://www.maj.com/gallery/gpn1975/g...st_1st_005.jpg
http://www.maj.com/gallery/gpn1975/g...t_10th_003.jpg
http://www.maj.com/gallery/gpn1975/g...st_1st_015.jpg

Also, when I mentioned the square footer, Raging Bull was thought of. Take this picture for example: http://www.rcdb.com/ig535.htm?picture=5
It seems B&M's footers are more scattered around than Intamin and Chance Morgan. At Canada's Wonderland the footers are all over the place too, so this has stumped a lot of people. Not sure if this will rule them out or not.

My vote is for Morgan. 2 main reason one the footers.
http://www.rcdb.com/ig2829.htm?picture=15

The other is that I know a person that has a strong Maintenance backgrounded. while Reseurching Intamin for an upcoming park he discovered that The company required a purchase contract and that CP wanted out of theres. They were not adding any more intamins to other parks and getting them stuck with the same problem.

I hope it's not a Morgan hyper, that would really be a letdown. The one Morgan hyper I've ridden (Steel Force) wasn't really all that good, nothing compared to a B&M hyper.

B&M Giga! Lol. I would love to see a giga coaster by B&M, I wonder if it would top MF.
