Six Flags New England Construction - The Dark Knight 2008

Is this coaster going where the Route 66 cars are or down in the DC Adventures land on the site of the Batman Stunt Arena? This season, while exiting the Scream area @ SFNE I saw a directional sign that featured a Batman: The Ride logo. I suppose they will rename Batman: The Dark Knight floorless coaster to Batman: The Ride. That bites.

They have had the "Batman the Ride" signs up for 2 years now. They first went up in 2006.

As for where the coaster will go. I dont know but im guessing it will be next to Splash Water in back of the teacups.
They just fixed up Route 66 this year... Turned the cars around so now you go the other way and they redid the queue for it.... I dont think its going just yet.

I had preferred for the wooded look to stay so I am happy with that Route 66 development.

Looks like New England is the next victim of Six Flags' flat take down.

At the event today, it was stated that Kontiki, Double Trouble, Rodeo, Catapult, and Bumper Buggies will be removed.

It was also stated that the Dark Knight coaster will be opening on Memorial Day weekend and all people who buy their season passes before the end of the season will be invited to be the first to ride it. This seems like a great idea, something that is pushing Six Flags in a more positive direction. Hopefully they continue to do that for more of their coasters.

A new coaster for 2009 has also been approved for the park.

Ya I read this on a couple other sites. Such bad moves. Removing 5 rides! come on are they trying to make the park Family and Customer Friendly or a bigger rip off? So Kontiki might come back rethemed who cares the rides sucks. apparently Wild card is returning but they operated it like crap when they had it before so why is anything going to change. then they want another coaster in 2009. Unless it's a replacement for an existing poorly operated and maintained coaster like Cyclone so what. it's simply anotehr coaster.

That's really disappointing to lose Catapult but I know how it's one of a kind, takes forever to cycle, has the air pressure tanks.

Rodeo, the spinning cows? What the? I missed that ride from SFGADV as it was given to SFOT. Is the spinning really that intense for the kids?

Its not one of a kind. Thorpe in England also has one. But it wasnt as 'good' as SFNEs.

^^^^Actually, two people posted it on another site, SROS1Fan and Thomaskelly. I saw theirs before yours and they happened to give a lot more information.

Like James said it was 2 of a kind. but still rare. what I don't get is they plan to remove 5 rides for a 5 year plan. so we loose them now so we can gain them back later. in the mean time SFNE gets to pocket money since they are spending less on the park. I guess I can't Completely Complain it makes Canobie the bigger park ride wise again.

actually it's like SFGAdv's ride but slightly smaller. the theme is Berals. The spinning is a little sell intense then on the one SFGAdv has but capacity was also less. something that Could have been fixed with an extra attendant.

So it's to cut the "cast" down and put it in storage until later when the climate of the park is better?

What? They're adding yet another coaster at SFNE in 2009? Well that's definitely the clincher for me to say I'm officially through with six flags parks.

Wait, does this mean they will bring them back? Like they'll try to trick everybody,"New for 2010, Catapult!"? Or are they gone for good?

Catapult

Does anyone know if there going to move Catapult to another park, or are they going to scrap it?

Basically but I don't see Catapult coming back. there was apparently talks of Kontiki coming back rethemed and Jokers Wildcard coming back after being removed a few years ago. will they advertise them as new? who knows. if they can find a loop hole to do it legally I'm sure they will. but generally stating it as new woudl be mis representing the product.

apparently people asked about movie it. the response it they woudl look into it. thats seems to be managment code for don't count on it.

As long as Catapult/Swat stays in the SF chain, it's all good. I wonder where (if not a comeback) it will go.

that's the thing it may not. and because the ride is uncomfortable it wasn't getting many rerides. I would expect them to sell it of scrap it. but so far I haven't seen it online.

I wouldn't care if Catapult was gone. The ride broke down right before riding, and then right after. It was also almost as uncomfortable as a Togo. Which is a shame, because I have no problems with the other S&S restraints like on eruption. It was just more reason not to go to that corner of the park.

and Cyclone wasn't a reason? Thanks to all that ground work around installing Catapult, Cyclone got a moved updated entrance. Now they would have to reverse a big reason for that project. The restraints were uncomfortable I agree.

So true. From what I've heard cyclone has only had lines while Superman was down. I woudl imagine that if there was a better attraction in that corner to support it the Catapult would have had better ridership.

During the Superman downtime, when coming off Cyclone I was teasing my uncle explaining how Catapult worked while it cycled. He sure didn't want to ride it but I enjoyed the view. Cyclone has its shakes and trim brakes but it sure looks better these days with it rerouted lines. It looked so distant and uninviting the other way. Already having to walk all the way around the skyway and up the hill is bad enough.

I agree Cyclone looks much better these days. The paint job help allot and the new entrance is much better then the old one. just wish they woudl gt it maintained enough that it didn't squeal like a banshee.

It looks like the framing is up for the concrete pour of the ride floor. This definitely looks at least a month or two behind the SFGADV site.

Is this the first Batman Stunt Arena to be torn down?

If I go this year, I'm definitely going on the Kontiki and returning to Katapult, though I hate those restraints.

Looks like this coaster is on hold for now. Looks like SFNE forgot to get a permit for the building?

This is within the time frame to let the concrete cure anyway?

SFNE is so far behind on this they can't use the LIMS excuse to help them to explain the offsetting delays.
