Here's to not seeing that now pointless hanging walkway from the track for this ride's new location.

I'm really glad Kings Dominion is getting Dominator. When I was there in April, IMO, the park was filled with mediocre coasters, and lacked one all around great ride. Dominator will, for me, fill the park's need for at least one "perfect" ride, like Top Gun is for me at Carowinds.

Now it just needs to be repainted to fool the GP. lol

How many of the GP that attend KD do you think have been to GL? And of those that have, how many would remember? Not many. It would be nice if they repainted it though.

^ I meant to fool the GP into thinking it was brand new, instead of having slightly faded paint.

Yeah it definitely needs a new paint job & I'm pretty sure that we'll see KD give it one once construction commences.I just hope they don't give it a color scheme that ends up looking worse than Shockwave's.

My guess is that it'll either be painted Talon orange/blue or Raptor green....although I wouldn't mind seeing patriot's color scheme used on this ride.

After getting a good look at the track last night I'm deffinitely thinking a new paint job is in order.

I'm extremely pumped for next season after seeing the markers and track with my own eyes last night.

theres a few pics I took last night.

Nice I love coaster track. Will you be going back for day time photos now that you know where the track is.
At least we know for sure where it is going. Its a great ride and will be a great addition to the park.

I wonder if they will keep the same name or if they will change it and retheme it. I think a new paint job would be great, the track pieces do look a little dull and faded. This is going to be a great 2008 season.

Great addition for Kings Dominion! I was wondering why aren't they making a big deal over it on their site like Canada's Wonderland did with Behemoth?

Anyway, I'm really glad Kings Dominion was able to get Geauga Lake's best and (IMO) only good ride. I wish they would've renamed it though.

Well I guess CP won't be getting it now!

I may actually have to pay KD a visit sometime next year when I go down to BGE.

Hopefully they will give it a new paint job because those track pieces look in bad shape.

^Amen to that.

I don't get it why they havn't put up any rendering of the layout so as to give us any idea of a possible new paint job.

I really hope it's going to get a new paint job too (whether it stays the same colors, or not). Those pieces look pretty bad, lol. I think they will, they repainted X-Flight, and Steel Venom, and Paramount repainted Borg, so I really don't see why not. I don't think it's going to be ready in time for their opening in March though, have they even started pouring footers?

This is off topic, but I just thought I'd point out that KD's website claims itself "Virginia's Premier Themed Amusement Park."

OMG. 0_o

Williamsburg is part of Maryland then.

I think Dominator would be just an okay addition. It was the best floorless I've rode (that, Medusa East, and Hydra) imo, but I don't really find them much exciting. The park can use an Intamin hyper or something better imo.

^True dat to the Intamin Hyper comment

I'm fairly excited for this addition. The only other floorless coasters I've ridden are Hydra and Kraken (I guess Griffon sort of counts). I'm kind of glad it's an older one as a new one might turn out to be like Hydra (I liked Hydra but it was rather forceless). The park is getting a proven ride design.

And,yes, I hope it gets a new coat of paint.

In order to be marketable as "new" it'll definitely need a new coat of paint so I'm sure we'll see that done. Now wether it'll be th e same colors or not who knows?

CF put out a logo showing the colors for Thunderhawk at MIA with the announcement but so far nothing for KD.I think I'll check the homepage & see if they've added the logo yet.

I dont think it will be ready in March either, it says on the site that it will open in "late spring" so I'm thinking like the end of May.

As to why Kings Dominion's site has sidelined this news, and Cedar Fair as a whole.... I think it's because they want to wait until the Halloween festivities in the park is over, then they will move this announcement to the top with the Dominator logo. I'm just wondering how this coaster will be placed in that front area, like which direction the lift hill will go, etc. Imagine being at a concert at the park now, and hearing that roar behind you. For years there's been rumors of taking Avalanche down. I'm glad they aren't taking anything major out.

I agree, most parks shoot for Memorial Day weekend. A non-launched at Kings Dominion?! The GP isn't going to understand this. lol

While I'd like to see Avalanche removed, I guess it's a good family coaster and has a small footprint. I'm glad they aren't pulling-a-Shapiro and taking out Volcano because they need space for a Vekoma roller skater .

I've never heard any rumors of Avalanche coming down... Its always been a relatively popular ride with a decent line (longer then the woodies, anaconda,. and ricohet in my experiences) so I don't see that happening anytime soon. Especially since its footprint couldn't really be used for much else unless they removed the concert theater or something.

Domintor doesn't have much of a roar at all if I remember correctly. Nothing like the B&Ms at BGA or anything atleast.
