Worlds of Discovery heading for Dubai

The announcement was made this morning. Busch Entertainment and Nakheel have signed an agreement to bring Worlds of Discovery to The Palm Jebel Ali in Dubai. Worlds of Discovery will be located at the top of the palm in the shape of a killer whale and feature Seaworld, Busch Gardens, Aquatica, and Discovery Cove.
The press release and two renderings can be viewed here:

This sounds awesome and just solidifies the fact that I really want to visit Dubai one day.

Not only is that a pretty awesome idea, I love how the parks are going on a whale-shaped island at the head of one of the palm tree islands.
I think that within the next 10 years, Dubai may very well be challenging Orlando and Las Vegas as the world's top tourist destination.

Holy crap! That's an incredible feat to take. It's a Busch version of Disney World. That's awesome. I'd comment more but I have a mid-term in about an hour. I'm excited to see the development of this concept.

What a fantastic idea and announcement from Busch! The only downside I could possibly see is what happens when they run out of land on their 'whale of an island'?

Create more? lol

It already is.

Dubai is flippin' insane. The amount of growth there, its mind boggling.

Although, it does worry me, II feel like dubai may be growing to fast for its own good, and eventually, its economy may just fall in upon itself. Hopefully not.

In other news though, this is very exciting for busch. Any word yet on what the park will be themed to?

The size of the parks scares me a little, however Under 200 acres for each of the larger parks (Sea World and Busch Gardens). How does that compare to their current parks? It sounds very small, if you ask me, but the only of these parks I've been to is Sea World of Ohio before it closed, and even that seemed to be about the size that this would take up.

^ Why would there be any less interest in it in 2012 then there is now?

Unless you are speaking of Dubai itself, then I can kind of see your point.

When I was in Korea last year all I heard about was 2014, 2014. There is such optimism for business and trade. I hope both nations deliver.

Will there be a Busch Hospitality Center with beverage samples and Clydesdales?

^^There is just a major "jump on the bandwaggon and build a huge amusement park resort in Dubai" explosion right now. It makes me wonder where all this money to GET to Dubai is going to come from and whether or not they are going to let women visit the park on other days besides Tuesdays.

Yeah 2012! BTW that's the end of the world -- so as soon as they get them built...

^Busch isn't paying a cent to build the parks. Nakheel is investing all the necessary capital to build the parks. Nakheel is also the company that is building the palm islands, so I don't think they're having a lack of funds. Plus, all the money to get to Dubai is coming from oil.

BTW...I'm not going to get into Doomsday discussion. But 2012 is the end of a cycle on the Mayan calendar, not the end of the world.

Personally, I'm still betting on the Y2K bug on being the end of the world.

Still interested to see what they do with the "women's day" thing
