Well, if that video is anything to go on, this will be a very nice ride. The pacing looks much faster than I had originally thought from the layout model. Maybe there will be some airtime on that return track...

And it seems to be going up VERY fast, or is that just me?

The vertical lift has started going up. Here's a picture from today of the stage/station/lift area:

Stopped out at the park this morning for a look around. Lots of station work getting done, lots of footers going in in the front of the park. Lift structure going up and maybe another piece or 2 of track have been hung since my last visit.
Lots of photos to see here, Johnnyupsidedown.com Hollywood Rip Rockit Construction at bottom.
Here is one from today...

The drop out of the first break run looks sweet. Maybe this coaster won't be too dull after all...at least the first half

Cant wait to see the coasters loop and drop when its down. By the photos it looks larger but knowing that it will be alot higher when done will be awesome. Anyway I should be able to get a look at the coaster construction on sunday 1-18-09. Cant wait to get some rides on this thing. US really is adding a unique coaster to the Florida skyline.

They probably still are sitting on blocks of wood on the ground wrapped up as well.

The banking looks pretty insane.

I was out at the park today for a quick photo run and to take a look around to see how things are coming along. The ride is looking very impressive. Lots of work has been done over the last 2 weeks since my last visit. Lots of footers going in around the front of the park and lots more station work getting done. They were working some track or at least bolting one so work is going 7 days a week.. The ride is very tall and cant wait to see this thing topped off it will the the talest thing around the area, should be awesome. Anyway some photos from today 1-18-09 are here Johnnyupsidedown.com Rip Ride Rockit Construction Photos at the bottom.

That MCBR is huge and has a really cool drop going out of it. Does it look more Togo or Schwarzkopf like?

What are the chances I will get to ride it during my visit in the first week of June? Its looking sketchy that it will be done by then!

It should be done by May, so I wouldn't worry too much. Track work is moving along quite quickly. The Citywalk section of the track is going up really fast. As of yesterday, much of the track was already in place, and supports for the remaining track in that area went up today.

From yesterday:

And the stage is very close to completion as well, as they have to get it done by Mardi Gras.

Probably be done in early May. They are really flying with the track work now.
I was out at the park this morning for a look around. Since they hung so much track in the last 7 days I felt I should take a drive.
Lots of new photos from this morning 1-25-09 at bottom of page here

Hate to be a negative Nancy but does anyone think the ride looks like its going to have its rough spots because of the odd track design and shape? I'm particularly talking about the spots in Johnnys first picture, where the track just looks like it moves too much, like it'll cause some headbanging. I dunno, the design of some of those turns looks kind of awkward.

On top of that, the track looks eerily similar to Windjammer Surf Racers at Knotts Berry Farm that was destroyed shortly after its opening due to its rough ride and horrible operations.

I don't know much about the reputation of Maurer Söhne, but its just something to think about, I wondered if anyone else noticed this stuff.

Other than that the progress they're making is quite amazing, can't wait to see the finished product! Thanks for the photos Johnny.

Windjammer was a TOGO creation, thats why it had so many problems. TOGO has been known for some rough rides. Take the stand-up at KD for example.

I'm sure it will be a pretty good ride.

Pretty sure it's going to have lapbars like all their other coasters.

Yes I agree the track does do alot of small change in direction. But the good news is there wont be any head banging as there is just a lap bar..

See the restraint system.

The track really does dance a lot. That surprises me and makes me nervous about roughness. Those trains better be good and not reminiscent of Windjammer that was brought up.

Or lets see, Maverick?

Maverick was far too rough and the transitions too quick.

I think it will be fairly smooth, and probably near the same intensity as the Mummy which is badass

It won't be going near as fast as Maverick though, especially at this part near the end...there's like 6 MCBR's
