Maverick wasn't all that bad, but it is a little rough due to the speed throught the transitions, which if they slowed the speed from the lift and the launch by say 10mph probably would be far smoother. Now if Rip, Ride and Rocket is anything like that video animation someone posted on here, it's gonna be breaked to death, which will kill some of the thrill for me.

Universal's prize company sent me an email I'm getting one of those Super Bowl commercial contest tickets after I entered Super Bowl Sunday. Looks like I'll have a shot for this coaster this year.
I was willing to wait til Harry Pots debuted but this is cool.

Stopped out at the park this morning for a look around. Lots of station work getting done and more lift hill going up. It sure is getting tall. Cant wait to see it standing with the track on it.
Lots of new photos from today. Johnnyupsidedown.com Hollywood Rip Rockit Photos

How do you get enough money to just walk into these parks on a regular basis for new photos?

Wow thanks for the update Johnny! I gotta be honest I wasn't digging this ride until the last couple weeks when the huge layout became much more apparent. Even with the MCBR's this looks like its going to be a unique ride that a wide range of age groups will love.
Can't wait to see the rest of the lift and the non-inverting loop!

The most anticipated part of the ride is done: the non inverting loop. It makes a loop look so much wider.

Wow man, nice pictures! I personally think this ride is going to be SO sick, I'm not sure what the complaints are for from a lot of people. Looks like there's going to be plenty of air, unique elements and fast transitions. Nice!

Looks like a ton of airtime there, I wonder how fast it'll go through that.

The loop exits as I was hoping. I didn't want it to enter and exit on the same end.

Almost done, just the track up the lift hill and a little bit down the first drop. Track has been hung going up the first drop and is near the to of the lift. Lots of station work getting done and other tid bits that you notice over the visits.

I wanted to see if anybody has heard similar rumors about Rip Ride Rockit, I was reading this over on TPR...

Apparently the crane that's neccesary to lift the final pieces of the ride (the lift, tophat and beginning of the first drop) has been gone since the 16th, and construction on the lift and drop has halted. Perhaps they're changing the design of the lift or the first drop, maybe making it a bit shorter, or changing the way the trains will be lifted?

It always seemed to me like the first hill was much taller than the non-inverting loop, which would have made it quite an intense element.

There were also posts regarding releases from USH that mentioned the ride, but only reported "A new coaster in 2009" not during the "coming in Spring of 2009."

This hadn't been mentioned in this thread, but I'm just sharing news that I've heard. If anyone has any other kind of info on this (Johnny Upside Down) or anything else, that'd be sweet to let us know! I was planning a trip to Orlando this Summer to get on both Manta and HRRR and I still have a chance to delay if the rides not gonna be open!

Since that loop is so unique maybe it's my turn to pen an inversion name and get rallying support: the obese loop.

Could the crane disappearance have to deal with just a larger model being needed?

If we get to pick names, I will just call it what people are going to call it.. THATS COOL! ... Anyway, dont know much about what is being discussed else where, most of it seems speculative.. Personallly I would suspect that not all the track or parts have arrived and that it was easier to get rid of the crane now as it costs lots of $$ to have a crane just sit. I would also guess that they want to get the track finished on the lower sections and in through the station house, then up the lift. Besides there is a ton of other stuff that needs to get done around the coaster. So much stuff you dont realize, only by seeing it week after week do you see what all needs to be finished. I would suspect as rumored that the ride will open end of May..

Or there could just be a problem with the crane that can't be fixed on site....would be very nice if Manta and HRRR open up Memorial Day weekend...I could get a new coaster 2fer ( oh joy )

Cranes are outragous, especially cause even construction companies dont usually own them. They are normaly rented. My wife works for a sign company and when they rent a crane to put up a sign which im sure is much smaller than needed for a coaster they are between $1200-$3000 a day. So cost could very well be the issue.

When is this thing supposed to open? We are planning our Orlando trip and are trying to plan around openings so that we can get both the Manta and HRRR credits

They have never said anything but "spring 2009" for opening, but its starting to look questionable if they can even do that judging by the amount left to do. But you never know, they might be able to pull it together for late may
