Kings Island - Diamondback

Ok I have heard from people here and on many other sites that it is rumored that King's Island is scheduled to get a B&M hypercoaster in 2009. A lot is being thrown around, including that it might break a couple records (obviously not height or speed). I'm thinking it will be similar to Behemoth, but hopefully built for the terrain because it will supposedley be back by the beast. Has anyone else heard any other details about this?

I was thinking about what records it could break, and is there a possibility it wouldnt be a sit-down?

I heard about this as well, and I'm really hoping that it is indeed a hyper, since the park doesn't have many quality coasters. Anyway, I heard their already preparing for construction, by draining the lake thats within the vicinity of the beast. Also, I heard they may close off an area in the back of the park, not really sure what good that will do, but it may have something to do with this possible construction.

Dang I hope this is true! I've been waiting for a good coaster to go in that park. I mean, Beast is good, but the park needs something that will produce that "wow" factor I get when riding things like Maverick or Millennium Force. And a B&M hyper will be a perfect fit!

I hope the return portion of the coaster is distanced enough from the other end. I'd like a Dominator Dark Blue/Orange paint job with some nice hills popping above the trees.

I really dont think we need any more blue and orange. I love that color contrast, but Vortex messed it up. I think that would be awesome if it was like a flying coaster that was that tall and went along with the terrain in the woods behind the beast, but thats just me praying for the best. I think we need a green coaster with black supports, like the old X-flight. Or maybe like all green, but like a jungle green.

It would be nice if King's Island got another coaster, but is Carowinds like the wicked stepsister to Cedar Fair? I swear that park is overly neglected. I think they need something new in 2009 too, but back to King's Island it would be cool to see them build another terrain coaster like Beast. My vote is for either an Intamin or B&M hyper. That would give me reason to go back to KI since I never got to ride all their coasters the last time I was there.

It is being thrown around that we might get a Millenium Force clone, and although it wouldnt be a terrain coaster, i would not be able to complain although this is unlikely, it would still be sweet. And on second though about the colors, i would not want a bright green, but a solid dark green would fit in nicely with the woodsey feel out behind the beast

MF is a great ride but if you are going to copy it, make some differences, like maybe a 90 degree underground banked curve or maybe some s track that slithers through the lifthill structure. An inversion or 2 might be nice but that would mean those restraints like Maverick that although not bad could use some improvement...

I really doubt they would put an inversion in it. Also, it wouldnt be an exact clone cuz its a different manufacturer, and to my knowledge B&M never makes 2 coasters exactly the same anyway. But that underground banked turn thing sounds sweet.

Yeah but thats six flags. They just clone all their coasters and make every park more and more like the others. I mean i get your point, but that doesnt surprise me. It would however surprise me if there were two B&M clones that weren't in a Six Flags park

That's the image I had seen about this.

...

In related news, Goliath at LaRonde shares quite a resemblence with the fabricated but never built Geauga Lake hyper. Coincidence?

^^Took the words right out of my mouth right there. And let's not forget that even "Batman" has been cloned and given different names over the years outside of Six Flags parks. Lightning in Kuwait and Great White at Seaworld come to mind. And if a ride isn't cloned, they do have a huge resemblance to one another. Behemoth and Nitro come to mind there.

Seeing that image CPmav posted makes me think that this might be more than an "Elaborate hoax pulled by a local amusement park" like Flight of Fear
Anway, I hope this gets confirmed soon and more detailed layouts are released!

Bringing the coaster and station over that pond next to Italian Job would be a great idea. That area seemed nice but quiet all these years. It would be nice to bring more foot traffic on the interior. I hope the view of Beast from the Eiffel Tower is not too choked up from this.

Chiller, Beast is currently blocked by Vortex from the tower, so this ride would actually be a near profile view from there.

O well the important thing is this will NOT be a clone The layout looks awesome, thanks for that. I'm so excited for this, especially because it will be a terrain coaster.

Kings Island NEEDS something really good. They have Beast, which I love. But they have to be the largest park in the world without a B&M or Intamin. I love the idea of a terrain hyper anywhere in the park. And it would be nice if it was a mile long with a good theme. Not something like Behemothor MF, in terms of theme .

Cedar Fair won't build competition for Millennium Force only 3 hours away.

I honestly think Cedar Fair will add Hypers to Kings Island & Carowinds in 2009.

Kings Dominion just got Dominator and Great America has already announced a woodie for 2009.

Surprisingly, Orochi is not an exact clone of Raptor. There are some relatively small differences: The shaping of the prelift turnaround is different, and B&M killed the snap into the final brakes on Orochi. There may be more little changes, but I'm not too sure.

Funny, but it's about as much as S:UF at SFGADV and SFGAM are different in the curvature after major part of the pretzel loop than the SFOG one. Not a big difference but overall they are all clones.

Kings Island needs a B&M. That's first and foremost.

Second, B&M needs a new type of coaster. I don't know what, but they should make something. And I'm not a fan of the Behemoth trains. Takes the B&M identity away.

If Kings Island does build something new, I hope they do well. It would suck to see another coaster flop in a park that's lacking.

A B&M with the prestige of Kings Island ingrained in it. It's got to be a departure from Behemoth and back to the traditional train.

I heard it might be a floorless vertical dive coaster. This would fall under the record-breaking catagory because 225 feet would be the tallest floorless coaster in the world

Dive coaster or hyper would be great. They really need a ride that provides massive amounts of airtime.
