The coaster looks OK. I hate the name. Terminator should be a Steel coaster not a wood. they can't get their stock above a buck and they are paying out for a needless naming right. the coaster looks fun but dose seem a bit short. given that larger wood coaster are 6-7 million they are investing 3-4 at least in the sound system, effects, and naming rights.

What is with all the presumptions that Six Flags is "paying" for licensing the Terminator franchise into an attraction?

If it's the same case with Tony Hawk and The Dark Knight, they aren't paying a single cent to a movie studio or brand. It's cross promotion that doesn't have one party paying the other, at least not a significant amount.

The movie will get people to try the ride out and the people that ride the coaster are likely to go see the movie. It's piggybacking on each other.

However, in the case of the Looney Tunes characters, the company does pay royalties for licensing the cartoon characters for use in their parks. But that's an isolated incident.

Absolute dumbest name for a coaster...ever...no seriously, EVER! Terminator has always been about the future. Wooden coasters are classic. Hmmm, hard to see anything related there. Terminators are obviously made of steel, wooden coasters certainly not. It just feels stupid. Terminator would be a great name for a themed steel coaster. To just slap the name Terminator on a new wooden coaster is crap and I'd expect nothing less from Six Flags.

Hell, T2 despite having nothing to do with the movie would more fit the coaster at SFKK than this wooden coaster.

T Express people. What does a mobile phone company, the T brand in Korea have to do with Balder/El Toro awesomeness that we hear the T Express in Everland Korea is? In Korea they push it even farther with a corporate name even overriding a town name. There's the Daewoo Royals, Samsung Lions, Lotte Giants in their baseball league. Talk about really whoring out. There are all those NASCAR like ads on football(soccer) jerseys all over the world. We had the last shred of dignity here in the US. Six Flags is cashing in if there's anything to be made other than the help of cross promotion, scratching each other's back like Chris mentioned. Maybe it'll be a Six Flags Mr Six "drop job" off the Pandemonium coaster name in the future. Will the coaster trains have beaming red LED light machine fronts?

If Deja Vu was gone and this Terminator coaster extended would we complain about it? I think there's quite a bit of people that have some sort of positive feelings towards Deja Vu besides the chain wide operations/staffing/reliability of the extreme design, this one being the solo representative left.

Get over it. It's not that deep. I swear, coaster enthusiasts can't be so friggin geeky over theming. It's a new wooden coaster at a Six Flags park. This isn't busch nor Disney. Cheese and rice!

Right.

Because naming a wooden coaster after a Cumulonimbus cloud (Thunderhead); a bunch of cats (Gwazi, Cheetah, Wildcat, Ozark Wildcat, Prowler); a Mexican bull (El Toro); a Pilgrim migration (The Voyage); makes MUCH more sense...

Maybe if you'll throw some massed demolition looking, Batman the Ride style theming on this ride maybe it'll look like LA demoed, anialated. The wooden structure could recall images of a bombed out area. No asbestos please. They should left some Flashback scrap around.

Yeah, you should talk about being geeky. If you don't like my opinion, you can just block me or just get over it.

Many of those names are silly too but I didn't name them, did I? So what's your point then? Oh, that's right, you don't have one.

No, you didn't name them, but that's my point exactly (hello? read between the lines).

There are much "dumber" names and it's not exclusive to Six Flags like the way you're making it sound.

You shouldn't read between the lines because you'll come up with stuff that isn't there like trying to make out that I said Six Flags is the only company that gives stupid names to coasters. I simply said it was the worst and no surprise it was a Six Flags park.

And as there being dumbers names than Terminator, that's your opinion just as it's mine that it is the worst. Why so quick to try and take someone else's opinion from them just because you don't share that opinion?

Oh I LOVE your opinion. Because it's a perfect example of what I was saying. Thanks!

I love how people think their "opinions" are above being questioned. Yes, it is your opinion, big deal. It still emphasizes my point that people take this stuff WAY too seriously. Most coaster names are silly out of context. That doesn't mean they aren't fun!

Oh, it's fine if you want to question my opinion but it's funny how you also think it's acceptable to insult someone just because you disagree with their opinion. You got so defensive about it that you have had to twice respond to what I said.

I'm the one taking this too seriously? Honestly, get over yourself.

Chill guys. After all, winning a message board argument really isn't that big a deal, you're both still losers

Perhaps MM made a mistake with the naming of this coaster and meant to name it with the likes of "Terminal" or "Termites."

Honestly, I don't care about the ride. I gave my opinion about the name and how I think it's dumb but you seemed to be offended by essentially saying I'm "geeky" when you were the one who was getting all worked up about it. You shouldn't let my opinion get you so wound up. Like you said, it's just a ride.

Dude, why are you still going on and on? Proving my point further every post LOL Chill, it's done. Please, let's cut out the nonsense and get back on subject.

Anyhoo, any construction updates anywhere out there? I can't wait for this thing to go up!

It looks like a good coaster. Like everyone else, I don't like the name much, but I don't think it matters much since I haven't been to SFMM yet.

Guys, I should be the only CHILL around here. There have been pics on TPR and some on Screamscape I believe of the lumber stacks against the park fence in Pscyclone's old spot. Is this the company that lays a complete concrete pad for the footers?

If it's "done", why do you keep bringing it back up and responding to everything I say? If it's done, try and not respond if you can. You can't stop yourself from responding because you want the last word just as much as I do. You barely post on this site but yet have responded to me by posting about five times now. Think about it, already 1% of your entire posts since you've been on this site have been just now responding to me. If I'm wrong, you prove me wrong, ok?

And for someone who still wants to get the thread back on subject, you have a hard time of showing it.

Again, for the record, I think the name for that type of coaster in silly. The coaster itself looks alright and I guess is a good choice for a park that has a lot of coasters but not much in the way of wood. If Cedar Point would only get a new wood coaster.

I know I'm an El Toro whore, but have you been on it? I didn't like the name at first, but after riding it the first time, I realized that it's to simulate a bull violently throwing you off of its back.

But I agree with you about the others.

And coasterlove, nobody's insulting anybody here, it's a friendly exchange of ideas. And we are on topic; Terminator.

I feel like it isn't the fact that it's wooden which makes the name suck. If it were some Intamin Mega coaster on Mega-lite coaster, it still wouldn't be very fitting. Terminator seems like a name for a launched coaster.

Yes I know that means it would be steel, but I'm saying that it's not just that it's wooden which makes it awkward.

Yes please, somebody make coasterlove stop! LOL (Jesus!)

I think the theme will be better suited once the coaster opens and we've had time to adjust to the name. Right now there's really no way to reference this theme because we just can't wrap our brain's around the idea. Once the coaster opens and there's no going back, I think if this coaster is done right, it may not seem quite so awkward.

A launch coaster would have been great! Something like Xcelerator, but longer. But I guess financially it isn't possible right now.

Me stop? Funny since you can't go a post without mentioning me or quoting me. But I tell you what, since you want the last word so badly, I'll let you have it. Go ahead and make a post about me or referring to me if you like and I won't even bother to respond.

Hmmm, I was referred to as being geeky. Sounds like an insult to me.

And when did I ever say that anyone else wasn't on topic? That was Screamweaver who said that.

^ I see what you're trying to do, and it's not going to work. No one cares anymore. lol Let's just please get back on topic.

BTW, I'm not sure if it's been posted yet, but there is a pretty recent update on the construction over at TPR. I'm so use to seeing footers place that seeing the outline of the frame is a little strange.

Someone over there also did a mock up of a new path in the area leading to the coaster. I hope Six Flags does something like this.

I'm not sure if SFI payed for the rights or if this is a joint effort. if it's a joint effort, the production company is getting the short end of the stick. Sorry but the entire project even a steel coaster has nothing to do with the Terminator franchise.

If SFMM wanted to brand a coaster to Terminator it would have been better to do it to X. That make over could have been working into the terminator theme better then a wood coaster. at the 10 million coast they could have added a steel coaster like Wicked.

The Terminator movie that is coming out and it's 2 sequels are about the rise of the resistance humans standing up to fight the terminators. A ride they would have better promoted the movie would have been an Interactive dark ride. and it could have been built for less then 10 million.

But this is simply my opinion!

Please, that's lame. Sounds like something the GP behind me in line would say.

This will be no El Toro, but I'm glad MM's getting a new woodie. I don't care about the theming, I just like coasters.

I suggest you "don't fight it, just ride it" like the Toro shirt says. Come to New Jersey and see how it lives up to the name.

I think Terminator is a great name for a coaster. Yes, it would have "fit" a steel coaster better but hey, at least it's not as lame a name as Flight Deck.

If the name changes it'll be the second Ex-terminator coaster out there. It's just a prequel right now.

AGREED. When I heard Terminator for a wooden coaster I laughed. That is a HUGE title to give to a family GCI wooden coaster. Terminator is the title that belongs to 4th Dimension or a Dive Machine, not a family wooden coaster that will barely exceed 50mph (if it even does I don't know the exact speed).
