| USS new dueling coaster: Battlestar Galactica
There's a section on the official site for Universal Studios Singapore that lists one of the park's attractions as a "truly innovative pair of dueling coasters--one seated and one suspended--that are locked in aerial combat. Exciting loops, sudden turns, breathtaking drops and thrilling near-collisions will make you scream out loud." Sounds like a new innovative Dueling Dragons! How awesome is that?! Too bad it is so far away.

That really sounds amazing. It's ice to hear that the dueling coaster concept is still alive. This should be very intresting with it being two different types of coasters. I can't wait to see some photos.

I thought USS was United States Steel, formerly USX.

It could be a clone but with two different train types it could make it alot more intresting. I wonder how a sit down and suspended will duel. Could be intresting or it could be a bust. It sucks that something cool like this has to be done outside the US.

I think it would be hard to get an invert and a floorless to duel. Just the trains themselves without people I think would weigh different, the inverted being heavier? Or not... Sweet element: an inverted loop on the inside of a floorless zero-g roll. |

Hmmm... can't wait to hear more about it... sucks that I wont be able to visit lol. That might be something I can do years from now... after college.

I'm also trying to picture that element in my mind, but I can't seem to figure out what you're saying or how it would work.

Maybe he means something like this http://rcdb.com/ig581.htm?picture=15 - but have it so the zero g roll goes 'over' the vert loop. So when the invert is upside down.. the riders feet would be just over the floorless trains heads (also upside down) |

Even if this was a Dueling Dragons clone..that'd be sweet! That rides layout is such a classic! I love it's interaction.

I live in Australia, and while there are a couple of good coasters here, going to Orlando or whatever involves 24 hours of flying. I'm quite happy about this actually since Singapore is not that far from Australia, so it means I can visit parks of that standard more cheaply and easily. Quote:
It will be cool to see the new collision types they try, and the new twists on old ones. Things like interlocking corkscrews would be simple enough, but imagine a sit down zero g going over an inverted zero g (Imagine the fire track was a sit down, and had its floater hill replaced with a zero g, and you have the idea) or what about having both tracks going down into a dip, and having the inverted track 'swoop' over the sit down one at the bottom of the dip. |

This sounds awesome. I could see an inverted Zero-G going through a floorless loop, but I think the scariest part would be if they had an invert track directly overhead from the floorless track and both ran at each other. All the floorless riders would duck for dear life!

How about a large sitdown loop encircling a smaller inverted loop.

If I'm not mistaken, I mentioned this as a great idea for a coaster about a year or 2 ago. If you look through the threads you will probably find it... If it is at a Universal, then one will be comming to the U.S. soon...

Dunno, I mean, essentially its is a variation on the Dueling Dragons concept, so I couldn't see USO/IOA doing it for obvious reasons...and there simply isn't the space at USH or USJ I think it's far more likely that it would be replicated at the Universal parks being built in Dubai and Korea. This coaster sounds amazing. I've been thinking about a coaster like this for years, and wondering if anyone would ever build one. Are there any pictures anywhere? Even some concept art?

You guys keep talking about how hard it would be to design this pair of coasters. The designer are engineers! They paid WAY TOO MUCH money to go to college and get the degrees to do this!!! If this is B&M doing this, it'll be sort of easy. |

haha...given that they're designing roller coasters for a living, I bet they had some good scholarships to go with their degree. However, when you think about it, any coaster is hard to design. If you want it to be good, you have to take everything into account, from forces and track smoothness to climate change in the location that it's going to be put into to sense of fear achieved when riding. Having two trains of different types only adds to the challenge and therefore fun of making it work.

Yes, DD was done. Why not this? It's basically the same principle, one train might way more, one train could be empty and the other full, but these have all already had to be accounted for. I don't think it will be much different.

| Hot - the sitdown side of Battleship Galatica is testing. Video of images of the sitdown and inverted ends of this dueling coaster.

The sitdown side is fired up the lift with LSM motors. I'm interested in what the inverted side lift does.

with all the track supports, if this thing valleys it looks like a pain to unvalley it... and is it me or does the supports look like cardboard tubes in the closeups?..

The two coasters look like a combination of Flying Unicorn, HULK since it launches on the lift, and the Ice side of Dueling Dragons for the inverted side. I guess with the LSM lift I don't think we would ever see a tire launch on a new HULK clone if they ever make one.

| Finally! Yes! Both are testing. There is a loop through the lift. Nice.
