Steel Hawg pics...almost done

I've never been there, but I was already planning to go this year. These pics make it hard to wait. http://www.indianabeach.com/blog/

I can't wait for this to open. I'll be there Opening Day. I live an hour and a half away. Haven't been in 3 years but I'll definitely go for this.

That ride looks insane.
It looks like one of those K'nex roller coaster kits where you just bend the track any which way.

Is it "Honey I Shrunk the Kids" again cause yes, it looks like a new style Knex coaster set blown up in size. All we are missing is the slack in the chain.

To bad the park is going to garbage since Morgan RV bought the park. Falling star has been in dis-repair all season. And the last time I was there I left early cause half of the rides weren't even open. I can only ride their 4 operating coasters that day for so long. Oh and replacing Chaos and the fish feeding area with more games is not the best idea either. 1 more season I predict with Indiana Beach thats all I'll say. After that the Six Flags drop out running the park will screw up this mid-west tradition for me.

Yes I agree it does look like the new mini-track sets, this ride even has some of the same elements of that last set (Outside the track turns for one)

Ha! It totally looks like stuff I would doodle in class when I was ten. Riddle me this - how fast do you think it's gonna be going on that rise and curve out of the first drop? Looks a little sharp.

Less momentum but the same coeffieient of friction as a longer sized train, so the hills decrease in size more than they would with a normal sized train. You see it happen all the time on single car coasters, and in this case the twisting steep track will slow the train even more than an unbanked track.

S&S hasn't been known for airtime except on sceamin squirrels, and this one seems to share the same concept while adding turns to the mix.

And Avalanche at Timber Falls, or pretty much any S&S woodie. S that statement would not really be true. They so make rides with airtime.

That first inversion looks almost painfully slow, but the second one looks sweet!

If you're talking about the downhill zero-g-roll/twist, I agree. I hope to see bigger and better versions of Steel Hawg from S&S in the future

I'm not really bothered much by extreme hang-time. In fact I really like it so I probably would really enjoy these S&S coasters.

Rode it today, it was O.K. smooth elements and some nice G's. But the load time is horrible. It's a ride once per visit ride for me. Lost Coaster of Superstition Mountain was running fabulously! Still my favorite coaster there! Too bad it was over-shadowed by Morgan RV ruining the park. Yes some of the nice new paint-jobs are nice. But if they could get some of the attractions working (Den of Thieves) that would be great. A Sally shooting ride is only fun if all the scenery and targets were on, not just half. Not to mention out of six riders in one group, three had malfunctioning guns (didn't fire, no noise) I know this thread is about "Steel Hog" but seriously Going from my favorite parks to one of my least favorite in one year is astounding. Very upset.

I thought the ride is decent. The load time was bad but so was every other ride in the park in my opinion. Steel Hawg was the only ride running multiple trains when I was there. Do the other rides even have other trains? You would think a Friday in July would merit multiple trains.

Anyways, I enjoyed Steel Hawg. It was everything I expected with a little bit more. The drop was fun, the crazy turn after the drop was intense. The underbank was fun. I didn't think the dive loop would be fun but it was, and the zero g was really fun. Yup, just a whole lot of fun. I wouldn't wait over an hour for it but I definately wouldn't miss it if the line was under 30 mins.

I think there's a lot of potential for this design but first they have to fix the trains! The lap bars are fine but the shoulder harness is not.

Rode it today and the restraints are so bulky and the operator pushed them below Comfort. The Ride is a little rough and some of the turns are tough as well. Probably the oddest thing IMO is the Location, It is off in its own corner with almost nothing around it. The Capacity is terrible as well. Splash Battle could also use an Upgrade btw.

Cornball only has one train. Hoosier Hurricane has two, and they've always run them both on weekends (in the past)

I may get up there this week. I really hope Mohead is wrong about Morgan ruining the park. He's usually NOT wrong, but I really hope he is this time.

All the Coasters have one train now. I asked the Op on LoCoSuMo why they were only running one train, and she said "It runs one train." This is the first time I've ever seen this ride run one train. Hurricane now only runs one also, not only that, all the Coke ads on the trains were removed. Not that I miss them, it's just that all the glue and everything is still on the sides of the train. Could have atleast painted the trains in my opinion, the brown and gray glue stains do not make a coaster a classic. Oh yeah, make sure you get in line at-least by 9:30 Pm. Even though they close at 10:00, they cut lines off at 9:30 so they can cycle through the line by 10:00. I only bring this up as I wanted one last ride on LoCoSuMo, so I went to get in line at 9:35 and was denied entry by an employee who stated "Well , we cut the line off cause there is a half hour wait at-least and we close at 10:00." Every other decent amusement park closes the line off at close! Well missy you probably wouldn't have that problem if you were running two trains would you? Hurricanes yellow train has been removed from the tracks as well. It's not even on the transfer track in the station anymore.

That ride looks awesome. I like how slow it goes through the inversions.

Dang. I didn't know that Morgan had done all that to Indiana Beach.

The low capacity for Steel Hawg doesn't surprise me after I just saw the ride's stats. That's rough about the woodies though.

I want to get down there this week either Wednesday or Thursday. I hope Morgan is just in a transition period and they will get better.

We may go up there Thursday for my daughter's birthday.

Which train did they take off of Hurricane? It didn't have a yellow train, it had a red and white. Cornball had the yellow.
