Valleyfair 2009

Hey everyone, this will be sorta a continuation from the other 09/10 thread. Basically, the Flume is now being deconstructed to make way for something bigger & better! I'm finding out very soon when the announcement will be, so keep checking back! And to verify that there is construction, there are flags, marks (fairly large amount of them too. . . ), and electrical flags covering the whole Flume area, and also, if that isn't enough evidence/proof for ya, the Flume has been removed from Valleyfair's website.

Wait, so where is the announcement? How can this be in the construction thread if we don't know what is being constructed?

In Before the Lock.
TN Rules (as we all found out with the Prowler thread) require an announcement be made by the park in order to create a thread in the construction forum.

I nee liked the Wavepool idea nor do I still agree with it. The land could be put to better use. (Oh did I speak to soon?)

Well I think it'd be cool if they expanded to make that whole area waterpark. More slides, areas, features, etc. . .

Well, we're working very hard on V2 (Second version of the site), but the forums should be up this week. Sorry for the delay!

Quick side note:

Renegade made the Golden Ticket top 50 wood coasters this year after being passed over last year. It tied for 35th place (still not nearly high enough).

Yeah it's such BS. Although it's a good coaster, Viper at SFGAM is NOT better then Renegade.

New coasters usually take a little while to move up the charts unless their somewhere like Florida or Cedar Point.

^Yeah, the Golden Ticket awards are very flawed so unless its at one of the overrated parks it wont be very high.

Anyways, Got some new construction photos on my site s well as what I consider a "soft" announcement.

I just got back from Valleyscare. Overall, they did a fantastic job. The new haunt is really good (I thought it was one of the best ones there) and they updated a few lackluster things from last year. They set off fireworks around 8:00 which was extremely unexpected, but entertaining. I don't think very many employees knew about the fireworks judging by their reaction. They still were running rides like Power Tower while the fireworks were going off so it was somewhat funny to see PT consumed by firework smoke with riders on it.
Also, there are indeed multiple banners hanging around the park advertising 09' season passes and inviting you to come "get soaked in our new wave pool." The construction area is flat and empty (and a lot larger than you would imagine). I'm really looking forward to the announcement (which I hear will be October 15th).

Now the question is are they going to add anything else? It's a large site and I have a very hard time believing they're going to add just a wavepool. Either or, I'm satisfied!

Their next addition needs to be a B&M Invert. Once Valleyfair builds an inverted coaster, they will be in the same league as Worlds of Fun and Dorney Park. They already have 3 major coasters-hyper, inverted impulse, and wooden-so why not a B&M Invert?! 150 feet tall, 130 foot drop, 62 mph, 5 inversions, the whole 9 yards. But I don't think it will be an inverted roller coaster. Hopefully something impressive though.

I would imagine that their next coaster will be a B&M Invert. Even without that though I believe we are in the same class (if not better) than Dorney and Worlds of Fun.

^Agree. (VF has 8 coasters, Wof has 6; VF has bigger/better thrill rides too. ex. Xtreme Swing)

So does anyone know why there was dirt in the field of dreams?

My guess is that it is the dirt from the flume site, the field of dreams was probably the easiest spot for them to place it.

EDIT: Why does it always seem like there are VF and WOF fanboys that seem intent on saying that either VF or WOF is better than the other?

I heard a radio ad today for season passes and they mentioned the new "huge" wavepool coming next year. VF really needs to just come out and announce it.

I think most people from from Mia, VF, and worlds of fun would like to think there park is better (or will be better soon/get the best new ride)

May be our wave pool we be "the biggest in the upper midwest"
I could imagen them saying somthing like that, and there are not many others =)

I'm glad it'll be big. I was hoping to God that it wouldn't be one of the small ones that have like -2 inch waves.

Its not quantity, its quality

And I dont really like to compare amusement parks all that much, I just like to rate them.

Michigans Adventure has 3 wave pools...but I only go into 2 of the 3, and I spend more time in the Medium one because its larger and more fun.

The one with the biggest waves is quite small.

So hopefully you guys will be getting a bigger one that has good waves.
