Buccaneer Battle - SF Great America '09

Six Flags Great America has announced Buccaneer Battle as a new attraction for 2009.

The Mack splash battle style ride will have 10 boats and a 450 ft. course. The Pirate themed ride will have tons of interative water features along it's path. Riders will be armed with water cannons, as will spectators.

As long as its better than Splash Battle at Indiana Beach and Is Themed, I won't judge it until I ride it. Sadly, it means No Dive Machine in that Area.

The article doesn't say too much about it. I really like these new interactive rides though. I'm excited.

I want to see how this turns out, eying that this could be a possible use for the CHILLER site @ SFGADV. We lost the scrap metal running Movietown Water Effect for Dark Knight. Land wise I'm not sure how the River Battle is spread

I like that this type of ride is starting to pop-up at alot of parks. I think it's the coolest water attraction to come along in a while and as more pop up i hope to see Carowinds get something like this.

I would not mind loseing the Rapids for this attraction.

I still have yet to experience any of them but they really look like alot of fun.

Is this ride similar to the Dollywood river battle?

^That's what I want to figure out. Is it on a track like Legoland's or is it more of a free floating style like Dollywood's?

Do they have any concept art? Or is it just the logo for now?

The concrete and fake looking rocks/path guides have been going up it seems. There are photos on the SFGAM official park site. I guess I'm not a coaster purist if I say if there was to be any site replacement for Deja Vu it should be this and not a Thomas the Tank Engine Town like at SFOG. I did ride the Thomas train at SFNE and enjoyed it though.

Here is the link to the photos mentioned: Construction Photos: Buccaneer Battle

I think it woudl be a good addition for the chiller spot. maybe use it as an excuse to reopen the Fantasy Forest area they shut down last year.
