Have you seen the parking lot? I figure if its big enough to fit a brand new football stadium, its big enough for a new attraction.

I'm not pulling a Carowinds 73-03 here and saying that CGA should get everything, but just kind of pointing out your logic Wes.

*STAFF FIGHT!!!!*Not really.

I'm just going by what I heard. If they can't ever get control over the land, and the 49ers landlock them, then that's what I'm saying they'll be kinda limited unless they take out attractions.

He meant (I think) that you are saying Carowinds should get everything all the time. Also, when other parks get better things it's "not fair at all." With CGA being his park (I think, it says you're from San Jose), he isn't saying that CGA deserves everything. In short terms, stop complaining.

Hey, Kyle L correct me if I interpreted that wrong.

I'm not out to fire missiles but it years past the SFA related thread seemed to be the grumbling one. I'm glad it's another park now. The problem is really not that big but patience, patience and paint is needed at the Carowinds. I still have yet to get the initial visit there but the interest in relation to growing Charlotte is there. I wish the industry and economy didn't blow like it does now. The timing is terrible.

It looks like Raleigh is building up like Louisville.

So on a PDF file I saw 485 is projected to be finished by 2016? Dam, I think I have a good shot to visit Carowinds before that roadway is fully finished.

Yeah, It's sad. The city is way behind on that. Carowinds should have a few new coasters by the time it's complete.

It was started in 1993 too.

Thanks Raleigh for screwing over Charlotte, while you build 2 outer belts!

The google one is always a few months behind.

The section from I-85 to I-77 on the west side of Charlotte is supposed to open in about a week.

The section between I-77 and I-85 on the north side won't open until 2016 or some crap.

And I had that faith Charlotte was ultra progressive there, being all built up as it is.

Ha.... When is comes to roads Charlotte is the worst of the cities i have been to. We're so behind i doubt we'll ever catch up. Even with putting tolls on I-77 & I-95.

But back on topic. Has anyone driven past the park lately. I was wondering if any signs were visable of the Flume removal yet. If it can even bee seen from the entrance road.

Charlotte's roads have nothing to do with Charlotte.

Raleigh controls all the road money, and we don't get enough to even be considered fair.

Meanwhile Raleigh build useless roads to nowhere, but when it comes to Charlotte they don't have any money.

The flume is not that tall, I don't think you could see it from the outside.

Even the GP notice this, which should be an absolute embarrassment to the incompetent management. Why does he want to add more worthless rides?

Dick adds only high end rides to literally all the rest of the CF chain except the Forgotten Adventure (MiA). So why doesn't he treat Carowinds like he does the rest of the chain? Carowinds isn't bound to be a super-park any time soon if ever (it would require hundreds of millions of dollars just to get it in super-park shape infrastructure wise), but surely we should be treated as well as he treats Dorney, who's attendance is significantly under ours. We're not asking to be CFs next super-park, we just want what is due to Carowinds. We've waited eleven years for a real coaster, and since 1993 to even have a management that understands quality, I think it's our turn for a share of the capital expenditures.
Last time I looked both Nighthawk & Carolina cobra were "real" coasters, sure they may not be "new" from the factory but to many in the GP who have NO real idea as to where they originally were located it doesn't really matter.

Dorney simply gets the larger additions because there is more competition within it's regional market while Carowinds has no real competition at all.I'm sure that CF HAS plans for the park's future development(including new coasters) but you've just got to be patient & give them some time first.

^ Six Flags over Georgia, Busch Gardens Europe and Dollywood must not be real competition... thank goodness, I was tired of hearing good things about BGE and DW all the time...

Yes,but they're not close enough to Carowinds to really count.Dorney Park has to compete with Hershey,Knoebel's,and Kennywood.

When I say "real" coaster, I mean a high quality one. I know the GP don't know, nor care. I'm talking about how Cedar Fair, and Paramount, have blatantly forgotten Carowinds in their capital expenditures. Borg could not have cost much more than $3 million dollars to ship and reconstruct (based off the 750,000 dollar price tag to move X-Flight to KI). Carolina Cobra could not have cost much more than $1M, due to its considerably smaller size. This, on top of the other additions (2006 at $5 million, 2007 at $3 million, 2008 at [guessing based off additions] $2 million) brings Carowinds' budget since 2004 to a pathetic $11-14M at most. What other 1.5M attended park has such a worthless budget? What other park is this neglected? What other park has even received TWO low quality, mechanically unreliable, used, full sized roller coasters that were called "major" investments? Would Dick treat any of his holy “legacy parks” with this sort of ridiculous mismanagement? Absolutely not.

This is true, I won’t argue the fact Dorney has more competition. However, Dick's bias is still very obvious. Look at Knott’s, who has inarguably more competition than Dorney, and any park in the entire Cedar Fair chain, with Disneyland less than 20 miles away, and Universal in the same area. Not to mention SFMM, and Sea World within the same general area. Since 2000, who has Dick treated better? Dorney has received three major, quality, roller coasters (and flat rides), Knott’s has received two major, quality, roller coasters. Dorney’s budget with these three is about $26-29M, depending on how much inflation has changed things. Knott’s spent about $29M, with the same variables (remember, I’m only including the major roller coaster investments, not kiddie, or flat ride investments, but when looking at that Dorney still edges out). Even with Knotts' two kiddie coaster additions, that wouldn't bring their budget up much more. There is NO excuse for a park in the middle of Southern California, near Los Angeles, to have essentially the same budget (or even close to it) as a park in no-where Pennslyvania. Looking at attendances, Dorney has produced significantly less results with their budget, remaining at around 500-750K, while Knott’s is in the 3Ms. Following an attendance expansion program, Knott’s should be the Cedar Point of the west coast. Not to mention, Cedar Point has no competition to speak of within 3 hours, Kings Island, but Dick poured money into it over the past 15 years. Sure, they had Geauga for a while, but Dick outspent Geauga over time. On the other hand, Carowinds has the same competition in an approximate 3 hour span, SFOG. Simply put, with the same basic level of competition at Carowinds as at Cedar Point (one park in three hours), Dick still spent hoards of money over the last 15 years to bring Cedar Point to being a super park in an area with less population than Carowinds.

I’m not giving Carowinds any more time, eleven years is more than enough time for an ACTUAL investment, not just becoming the Cedar Fair junkyard. And based off what the GP say, they're pretty fed up as well and praise other "local" parks such as Dollywood and BGE for having high quality attractions. We’ve been patient enough. There is no excuse for such a pathetic budget over this time period, and no other Cedar Fair park (save MiA), no matter how high or low the attendance has been treated which such mismanagement. Yes, Cedar Fair has only had the Paraparks for 3 years, but already FOUR out of the FIVE have received [note: based off GAm was going to receive a GCI until it was cancelled] HIGH quality coasters. Again, I'm not asking to be bombared with massive investments in a Kieranesque manner, I just want what is long overdue to Carowinds, a high quality series of investments. Dick would do this for any other park of his, and is doing it at all the other Paramount Parks, and continues to do so at his "legacy" parks.

Maybe Dick has the same “plans” he does for Carowinds that he does for Michigan’s Forgotten Adventure, which is none.

^^ Carowinds' competition in drive time is similar to that of Dorney's- PA is a large state, after all.

Within a 2 hour radius of Dorney you have Hershey and SFGADV. Kennywood is beyond that but overall considered part of their competition.

Thank you.
That basically says it all.

Carowinds is not here to cater to the enthusiast crowd and the GP thinks it's new as well as they did with Borg so as far as the GP thinks Carowinds is getting stuff. Attendance & season pass sales goes up every year without adding a brand new coaster so honestly why start now.

I honestly think 2010 will be an awesome year with or without a coaster. Carowinds needs flats more than coasters.

Be patient. Some good things are coming to Carowinds in the next 2-3 years and maybe finally everyone (not GP) will stop complaining.

I would just be glad to not be in potato country; Idaho with Silverwood. Where's the competition there? I'm not even sure in you're in tobacco row but it looks better than there and Valleyfair! I just know you guys reached your Vekoma saturation.

For some reason, looking at pics I think I'd prefer Vortex over Batman: the Dark Knight (SFNE) though I haven't been on it. I've become curious to see if it weighs in enough to say the park has a good balance of B&M.

Probably not.

If we got a hyper, someone would complain about the layout. LOL

That's what the KI fanboys did! OK, some of them did anyway. They finally got a hyper, then they complained it was boring!
