Carowinds 2010 Coaster (Intimidator)

I think it's time to start this.

Carowinds always seem to have the funniest rumors that go around so let's hear whats going around now. I have heard a few but i'll let others start it off.

What do you think is coming in 2010?

Not a hyper, Kings Dominion is inline before us. I predict retheming of Nick Central, but it is too early to tell.

Why would they get a major coaster in 2010? They just got Dominator this year and that is their tallest coaster now at 155'.

If Cedar Fair passes us over for another major investment, I don't know what I'll do. I know I'll go another year without a season pass purchase.

Kings Dominion
2008 - Dominator
2009 - Three flats
2010 - Hyper

Carowinds
2008 - Yo Yo
2009 - Carolina Cobra
2010 - Flat ride(s)
2011 - Hyper maybe

We are getting Head Spin, why would we get a hyper in 2010. Carowinds will get a new coaster one day, but I doubt 2010 is that year.

Vekoma doesn't make hypers. That's a played out Carowinds term. How about an unused CGA woodie?

I am pretty sure the cost difference between a new coaster and used coaster isn't normally a large difference. Carowinds' budget I am willing to bet paid for the transportation of Head Spin, the removal from Geauga Lake, any broken parts, new trains, and construction. Based on my math skills, the gas alone to move Head Spin costed $8,000.

Yes, maybe if a coaster that DOESN'T EXIST YET does NOT get built, then maybe Carowinds, of ALL parks, will get it! Just like they should get every single thing at every park everywhere!

If a Cedar Fair park is going to get a coaster next, Cedar Point will be the park.

Carowinds: You say your "new" er, pre-owned coaster was free. How about the shipping and handling? Was that free too? Therefore, your USED coaster was not free...no matter how you want to word it.

You know what'd be great? If Carowinds got the Hurricane Category 5 coaster from MBP. Highly unlikely, I know, but it would be awesome.

I've heard from at least two sources that the woods behind the flume will be out of commission for SCarowinds 09.

Think what you will, but it seems likely.

If it was still 10 years ago it would be cool if KD and Carowinds got mirror hyper twins in the same year.

I hope they remove the kiddie coasters and throw in a 450 ft. Rocket Coaster!

And then they can expand and then get a 200 ft. B&M Floorless.

And then they can move some rides near the back of the park and put in a Flyer.

Then maybe in 2011 they will expand more and put in a Intamin Twister.

In case you didn't get it the first time...

I probably said already a Piraten clone is the middle of the road for installation.

Carowinds...seriously, you need to learn to READ every post through. Learn the difference between sarcasm and truth. And quit responding to nearly everyone that responds back to you. You have NO CREDIBILITY.

Something like this?

That would be a site for a mirror mini NITRO layout.

actually it would probably be 230' just like Nitro- of course this is all probably heresay.... but CF has had B&M build 2 230' hypers- Behemoth and Diamondback- it is likely that CF has a multi-year, multi-coaster deal with B&M for three similar coasters... I would bet that one of the CF parks will see a 230' hyper in 2010- will it be Carowinds? we will just have to wait and see..

I have my hopes up- is there a park that would get a hyper before us?? It seems like if CF was going to build a hyper at Carowinds, the log flume is where it would be built- there is so much land around that area, as you can see from the link I posted above.

I dunno, but all the rumors are lining up and pointing towards something big.

Most of those coasters for those parks you mentioned were coasters that were dispersed from Geauga Lake. Also, you listed coasters in the last three years.

Give it a break and don't get your panties into a bunch... it took until 2008 for Michigan's Adventure to receive a coaster, and it was a used Vekoma from Geauga Lake that I had already ridden, and the park was purchased in 2001 (though it did receive its first major ride investment with Grand Rapids in 2006). If it gets something sooner than that, be very greatful.

Everytime I ride a coaster, it valleys. I've never been on a stalled coaster or had one roll back (except Wicked Twister and what was Superman: Ultimate Escape, which does that by design).

I agree that all signs point to Carowinds if indeed CF does have a deal with B&M for 3 or more Hypers. I honestly can't think of any CF park that needs or deserves this more than Carowinds. Most if not all other CF parks have recieved a major coaster in the last 2 years or next year.

Worlds Of Fun in 2009
Kings Island in 2009
Canada's Wonderland in 2008
Dorney Park in 2008
Kings Dominion in 2008
Michigan's Adventure in 2008
Valleyfair in 2007
Cedar Point in 2007
Knott's in 2007

It's time to show Carowinds some love
Umm... not to be the party pooper. What about Carolina Cobra 2009?
Even if its used, a roller coaster after a roller coaster just doesn't seem very likely for that size of park. (I can say that since my home park is Valleyfair. Very similar in size)

I'd rather get a GCI woodie than a hyper. If they are taking out the Log Flume that's a pretty good sized amount of land to have a nice twister on. They can squeeze in a hyper anywhere.
