I don't know if I would like the trim or not. I hate Hurler and if it eases a the pain of riding it then hey, go ahead and trim it,lol. But...If it takes away from the Airtime on those hills then that could be bad. Hurler would be a good ride if it wasn't so dang rough. It needs the track replacement more than Thunder Road, haha.

Hmm, I didn't think about possibly some colors to fit in with the beach theme. They could color it some pastel colors. I think they should just rename it and give it a good face lift. Maybe add the tunnel back where the helix is. They could do some kind of surfing theme. I just want to have one less coaster starting with "Carolina" lol.

It didn't seem to affect the airtime at all yesterday and that was on a cold and damp day!

^Well that's good then. Same amount of pain? lol.

Are trims really all THAT bad? The one on The Time Machine at FMP didn't really seem to bother the ride much that I could tell. I don't know if it was off or what but I know there was a trim there, haha. I've never ridden any hyper yet so I guess so I wouldn't know how much they suck I guess =|. One thought that came through my mind about the trims on Intimidator was that maybe B&M designed a smaller trim so that It may not affect airtime as much.

Either on Thunder Run or Hurler I felt a first turn rumble so I could understand the trim there.

^^ You know I'm beginning to think the whole trim thing killing air is a myth or something.

I've been on Apollo when it trimmed us hard, and when it didn't trim at all and it was pretty much the same ride. I think the computer basically figures what speed you should be going and adjusts accordingly.

Yeah, I'm thinking it's just a big myth also. I believe it's exaggerated because people pay too much attention to how much it slows down the speed(which Probably isn't THAT much) and they assume the airtime is ruined even though it's probably the same or only a tiny less than what you would get on other non-trimmed hills if that makes sense. I wouldn't know for because like I mentioned before, I've never ridden a hyper. Why would a company who designs 23 million dollar rides based on height, speed and airtime ruin one of the major elements of the ride with trims? There has to be some airtime in there somehow. B&M wouldn't tolerate a coaster that doesn't appeal to the riders. They're too awesome to just not care, lol.

Why is everybody whining about a little trim, be thankful that we are even getting a hyper coaster. If yall dont like it, cedar fair can take it right back down and move it somewhere where the people will be a little more appreciative.

and also does anybody have any pictures of afterburn's construction or know where i can see them.

Because it'd be nice, for once, to get a little bit of "out of control" airtime on a B&M hyper. In my experience, the trims do tend to take the "punch" out of potentially good airtime.

I seem to think a trim doesn't make too much difference on NITRO. They're only before the hammerhead. Actually I listen to see if there is its clicking noise. I'm glad they're only in those valleys and not somewhere mid hill.

So far it only looks like one little trim before the hammerhead or whatever they are calling Intimidators turnaround.

There's a second one after the "Panoramic U-turn" (I'm still calling it a hammerhead).

Did they make any progress today? I didn't get to check out the webcam before it turned dark.

Yeah I saw that today on their facebook page.

Glad they finally fixed the sign out from that said IMTIMIDATOR.

I sneezed and they have the other big hills up going into the turnaround. Will the track fully be assembled by Thanksgiving?

^I wouldn't doubt it. Looks like all they have to do is the turnaround, one more bunny hill, the brake run and helix...

That leaves the winter for them to take care of all the land under the ride, and the electrical and queue stuff. Don't know about you, but I wouldn't wanna be in one of those baskets attached to a crane, putting roller coaster track together during bad December weather in Carolina...I'm sure that's why they've gotten a decent jump start on the hard stuff first.

Ride looks good though...can't wait to see it cycle!

Bad December weather in Carolina? what? Charlotte is not like Sandusky, the weather gets nippy and might snow, but that a bit of a rare ocassion for them.

This is another reason why I'm moving to Charlotte. I decided I hated cold and snow. Hasn't it got like 70 in the winter or something at one time or was my aunt exaggerating? Do people freak out when there's Ice and snow there? XD

I think it certainly will be done by Thanksgiving as far as track. I'm going to say testing in January or possibly even sooner. And I loved what you said on your last post Leo,I lol'd XD .

Oh and this is random and has nothing to do with Intimidator(sorry) but I want to know what it is. What causes that kicking(or whatever you want to call it) sound the very first part of Afterburn's First drop like as the train starts gaining speed after the pre-drop? There's like no other Invert that does that that I know of. lol. Listen on this video if you don't know what I'm talking about.

Holy crap. Does Carowinds do any maintenance on their rides ever?! That kicking makes it sound like the wheel assemblies are falling off. And all that rust? For shame.

Yeah that's bad wheels at no time should a B&M coaster sound and ride like that ever! Carowinds maintence is severly lacking upkeep.

That's ok, just stay away next year and that will give me more rides on Intimidator and Afterburn.

To say Carowinds doesn't take care of their coasters is kind of puzzling considering how much money they've been plunking into coasters like Thunder Road.

^Psh..yeah right, I will ride Afterburn even with the noise, lol. I forgot to note that this isn't a new noise, it's been like that for a while and I've heard it myself. I guess it's just one of those unknown, random B&M sounds like that huge clack when a Dive machine goes down the drop, and the clicks on the Airtime hills on a Hyper, lol. There's the B&M roaring sound but it has a reason. I love that sound =)

^^Yeah, this isn't Six Flags. I'm sure Cedar Fair takes care of their rides. And nothing ever goes wrong with a B&M,lol.

^Don't bash Six Flags just because one or two rides constantly have problems. I will say that especially SFOG's maintainance does their job and they do it well.

If Cedar Fair takes care of their rides, why is Ghostrider one of the roughest CCIs?

^^I was just joking. Cedar Fair has just as many incidents as Six Flags. Every Park chain has some history of a ride being stuck or some bad incident resulting in injuries or death(rare). I'm sure Six Flags does just as good of a maintenance job as anyone else.

Afterburn is just different. It does not hurt but during the Batwing it caught me off guard into the inversion because there's a sudden thrust with that twist going in.

Just because there's a noise being made doesn't mean the ride or park is lacking "upkeep." There are plenty of B&M's that have their own individual "sounds" and this seems to be no different. Batman at SFMM has a rapid tapping sound as your going up the lift, and its not always consistent. As rides get old weird noises get made, but that doesn't neccesarily mean the ride is operating incorrectly...

I'm not certain but it sounds like a bad lateral wheel, because that noise sounds like it only happens when the train is turning, not when its going straight...

But if it is a wheel, then it should have been replaced by now...If its been like that for a year or so there's something else going on...

If you notice the noise starts after the train passes the trim at the top of the lift...perhaps the anti-rollback is getting touched and bouncing up and down? You only hear the tapping on the first drop, not during the entire ride...also, I know the wheel assembly covers can sometimes be loose, or if there's something close to them and it moves and taps it it might sound like that.

That's an interesting sound, I wish I could pinpoint what it is...

I was also thinking it might be an anti-rollback, but can't say for sure. As you said, it's an odd sound.

Funny that the Afterburn footage was shot two days before my first ever visit.

I think it's the one last change of tension in the chain as the train comes off right before the train fully clears it and the counterweight returns to its idle position on the lift hill motor that's sitting at the bottom of the lift.

I like this knock on everyone. Thanks Busch.

Jeezuss, talk about the most annoying voice i've ever heard...it sounds like a fricken 11 year old who's balls haven't dropped is talking during the video...there's no bass in his voice and I swear it cracks like 3 times...ugh

Moving on...muffling the anti-rollback on the lift is not that complicated, its just constant up-keep and a terrible pain in the ass for mechanics.

But I'm not quite sure how it relates to Intimidator...

I love the fact that the video is misspelled. They typed "quite B&M lift" instead of "quiet B&M lift".

And no, he's not the most annoying voice I've ever heard. There was this guy at Coaster Stock or maybe it was C3 that was 100x more annoying. He talked like the most annoying nerd you've ever heard, times 1000. We walked around talking like him the rest of the day and laughing our heads off.
