2009 Europa Park Coaster

http://www.epfans.info/?id=2279& a fan site.

This ride is almost done and I think will kick Maverick's you know what. It's a blue and gray launch Mack coaster. It will start off launching into a big turnaround hill (not a Top hat) and into a giant loop. I've seen pics on fan sites. The trains look really cool with just a lower lap bar coming down. It looks like the other part of the restraint is built into the train sides. Ingenious.

I have been following the construction on the non english speaking websites for some time now. The ride is looking great, glad to see something different. The loop looks great, I love the shape of it and I also like the overbanked turn out of the start. I really wish alot of the US parks werent so over built with rides because it really limits us on what we could get in the future as in the newer progressive designs.

I guess it makes us look in anger at those SLC's. As great as the B&M's are I see where they take a spot in the lineup keeping certain manufacturers out. Are Arrows the sacrifice to get these guys in? The Mack loop and track remind of Intamin's attempt but I don't think I'd want an Intamin 10 inversion Colossus coaster.

Johnny, I agree with you. I hate how in the U.S. everything's a close competition with the industry, and Park X builds a better version of the new coaster Park Y announced just so Park X can be better, whereas over there, parks just build whatever whenever, which is the reason more prototypes have been manufactured and built over there.

Not to sound fanboyian, but I have to disagree. This ride has no 1/2-second, 150* transitions, and I personally LOVE Maverick's overly-fast transitions and 95* drop. Therefore, and I won't be able to tell since I probably will never be able to ride it, but I'm gonna have to say this won't be better than Maverick.
Once again, this is my honest opinion, and as unbiased as I can make it. Please don't consider me a fanboy simply because of this post, as I am not one.

On the other hand, though, this ride looks really awesome. I think the overbank will be a hit, as well as the Twisted Horseshoe Roll (I don't know Mack's name for that element), the airtime hill and the loop. Everything in between, however, doesn't really excite me too much.

*EDIT* Oops, just noticed the barrel roll...this may be a competitor for Maverick, after all :P
*EDIT AGAIN* Where exactly is the track going to go after the loop? And what are the extra connectors on the overbank's supports for?

After the loop in the animation there was an upward right turn and somewhere afterwards is an evil looking roll.

I don't understand why everyone thinks this is so much better than Maverick, if at all. Maverick doesn't look any tamer than this, but this definitely looks cool.

In the last couple years Mack has came a long way. I like how alot of designers are going to the intamian style track. Ger has also gone to this style. This coaster reminds me of a Euro fighter.

It's the first hill and giant loop that gets my attention. The new coaster and Maverick have the fake rocks and crazy corkscrews.

Some things both coasters have:
Launch
Twisted horsehoe roll
Fake rocks

Only this coaster has:
Overbanked hill
Loop
Heartline roll

Only Maverick Has:
Beyond vertical first drop
Three tall airtime hills
Two overbanked dives

It seems Maverick has more airtime elements while Blue Fire has more inversions. Most people say they prefer airtime to inversions. What makes Blue Fire so much better?

Who needs the stall halfway for a launch? I don't need the uncomfortable restraints and beyond vertical drop that will make me thud into the restraint either so I'd be ready to throw Maverick out.

Mavericks restaints arnt that bad. That 95' drop is insane. Maverick is a fast paced coaster with a lot of zip. It never stops thowing you right to left. You never know where you are at. I dont see why people have to need to dog everything at Cedar Point and always try to compair coasters to Cedar Points. Blue Fire is going to be a great addition even if it is or isnt better then Maverick. We should be happy that Mack is starting to create great coasters, and not try to always compare their work to an older company.

The German Drachen Fire looking coaster is finished. It looks like the fake rock work has a lot of scaffolding pieces. I see a new roundabout not a traffic light is installed on the road near the new coaster.

Wow, now I see why people were saying this is better than Maverick.

This looks like the launched Intamin we've been waiting for.

Except it's not an Intamin.

Being the coaster geek that I am I love the shape of the loop. Its about as perfectly shaped loop as you could draw.. Let alone the rest of the layout at least by the video is awesome. Add this to the must ride list when I hit Europe.

The fake rocks for Blue Fire look really cool. I can't wait for a member of the ECC or some other international coaster club give us some input on the Blue Fire vs. Maverick debate. I just discovered from Europa Park photos the subterranean part before the loop right after the huge turnaround hill. It's at least the real R.I.T.A in Europe.

I love how in one of the finished pics you can see a master blaster in the background. Those types of slides are really catching on.

I don't see a Master Blaster, nor do I think there is a waterpark at Europa Park. I do see a Mack Super Splash, because Mack builds all of their prototypes, like Blue Fire, in Europa Park, which is why every coaster in Europa Park is made by Mack except for one.

Who needs an over 95 degree (whatever Maverick is) first drop? News Europa Park: update of the new coaster works Maverick is truly a hybrid but I like how this one has the real loop and super large turnaround hill to go with the launch track.

Blue Fire is testing. It looks like it's working at a slower speed first. That first hill had really interest me.

I have been studying abroad in France this whole year, and with some friends took a trip out to Strasbourg (due west of Paris, within France at the German/France border), and we took a day out to go to Europa Park.

I've also ridden Maverick- so I guess if anyone was interested in hearing any sort of comparison between the two...

In my opinion, both intensity and quality-wise both rides are almost indistinguishable. Bluefire is by far smoother than Maverick, but Maverick's second half (Everything after the tunnel launch) has the EP ride beat. The horseshoe roll on Bluefire is more intense than the one on Maverick - it's bigger, taken at a higher speed, and provides a lot more airtime at the top. The barrel roll near the end really flips you about 450 degrees, because you enter from an opposite sense turn, and exit into another opposite sense turn (think right hand turn - clockwise roll - left hand turn) - easily the most intense part of the ride.

Other than that, bluefire shares a lot of Maverick's impulsive turn making, the lowlevel carousel turn following the massive loop, which is taken at about 60mph is really great.

The theme for BF is kinda bad - something about top-secret energy research. Maverick is better with the theming. This was disappointing since virtually everything else at Europa park is really elaborately themed.

And finally the trains, cars, and restraints on this thing were really top-notch. Comfortable, and at the same time unique because the seats are somewhat elevated away from the track. The lapbars have a built in pulse monitor, so you can see what your heart rate is on the ride, which is kind of pointless in my opinion but cool nonetheless.

Hope this helps a bit!

So in the end, which one is better? It sounds to me like Bluefire, that is if they're generally pretty similar, but bluefire is smoother, I would think that puts it on top.
