Another example of how the internet doesn't do a good job of communicating thoughts.

I was just asking basically "Are there any hypers over water?" but of course it came out wrong.

Wes wants the whole hyper over water I suppose, like it's going to be called Aquaman.

Silly, we aren't talking about Six Flags.

And if we are talking about coaster names I want, I want a Flash themed coaster. Hear that Shapiro? There are other DC characters besides Batman and Superman! Oh, well I guess they discovered Bizaro.

I have wanted to see A flash themed Launch coaster for a while.

More on topic. If already ordered and it's a major coaster I can see the park maybe getting a coaster. but the company didn't perform fantastic this last year. This year might also be tight. We might see things toned down in 2010.

Yeah with Carowinds & KD adding coasters & the other parks adding flats or minor improvements.

Based on a photo update on SS this AM I would say there is no way that KD is getting a B&M next year.

The photos on clearly show 2 types of track. Yellow which most are saying is hyper track and a red which most are saying is dive machine track (this track is MUCH larger than the yellow track as well). There are now shipping containers on site so I am betting the red dive track is going overseas.

That leaves the yellow hyper track and I think it's pretty clear that this is going to Carrowinds.

This does not mean that KD is not getting something in 2010. I just don't think it's a B&M.

I could be wrong of course so we will have to see what pans out in the next few months. Of course as someone already mentioned the area behind FOF/Anaconda is being used for a big fireworks display for July 4th so we may not see any activity over there until after the holiday.

I just posted this in the B&M thread but I guess I have to post it again. The red track is mega coaster track,if it were dive machine track it would be have the initials "DM" on the customer label & not "MC".

The yellow track(which has been sitting there longer) is a sitting coaster judging by the initials "SC" on it's customer label. The dive machine in China was shipped out last fall when DB track started being produced...another point of note is that NOTHING has been confirmed about a hyper going to either KD or carowinds yet other than mere speculation by the fanboys of said parks as to which park is getting what ride, sorry but a bunch of kids posting on a carowinds fansite about how much they want a hyper coaster to come there doesn't make it true anymore than the KD fanboys desire for a hyper would.

^ So you're saying Carowinds Connection isn't right? Well!

You're totally right though, I'm trying to keep a level head on the whole thing but when I see as much dirt moving around Carowinds as I've ever seen since Borg, well you can't blame me/us for getting excited.

The one thing that someone on Carowinds Connection pointed out was that Carowinds has demolished the log flume and is moving tons of dirt around, while KD has really done nothing. If I recall correctly, last year there was a bit of dirt moved around back behind Anaconda as well and nothing came of that.

That being said, I love KD and even though SFOG is closer, and is home of Goliath, I usually end up at KD more times than I do down at SFOG so you can tell I like that park a lot. Dominator was a great addition to their lineup, and I feel sure if a coaster is not in store for 2010, then surely 2011.

And by the way, I'll be glad when the yellow track gets shipped! I've heard about every park on the east coast is getting that coaster now! LOL

^There's some new information, not much on the planning board's site pertaining to the 2010 project at KD.What I found interesting in one of the documents is that the exit queue for the ride will be located over water.

Yeah I saw this on another forum as well.

Also other comments about the permit is officially approved and costs $38617.00 and all but about $1800 was paid at this point.

I would imagine there will not be any signs of life on the project until after the fireworks display on July 4th since it is well known that this area is where the fireworks will be shot from for the holiday.

That's my feeling as well.If the other site you're referring to is kdfansite then that poster was probably me under the name "KDCoasterfan" I looked at the documents the other day & discovered the info about the exit queue for the ride being placed over water.

Anyone find it strange that the documents pertaining to the 2010 project are no longer accessible via the planning board website? Seems like KD & CF management is onto the fact that we already know a bit too much about the new coaster & don't want anymore information to be leaked out on the net until they're ready to announce the ride.

The Carowinds docs were the same way. Some claim they saw the layout for the coaster, and then they disappeared off the internet within 24 hours.

Last I heard the KD documents are back online, also there have been surveyors spotted in the park marking out lines with orange spray paint in the clearing behind anaconda so this is really getting interesting now.

Well, I guess my two cents are either Carowinds, or KD are getting the hyper. ONLY one park can get it in a year when each of them cost around $22,000,000. I think CF is much smarter then to go off and spend $44,000,000 at just two parks. Not to mention all the other additions being added on to the other parks. (Another thing to think about is a GCI Woodie?)
I'm not byest for any of the parks since I'm 1000's of Miles away, and haven't even visited them, But I would I would have to say Carowinds would get the hyper first, and then KD in 2011. Eventhough there is clearing at both parks, and each of them got a "used" coaster in 08 and 09...But then again, what are the odds of 2 coasters in 2 years too? On that thought KD looks more likly. I guess each park has as great of a chance as the other. But I think it can only be one, in one year.

Toader I agree with you.

And guys don't take this is "He's a Carowinds fanboy and he hates KD". That's the opposite of the truth, I'm not really a fanboy even though Carowinds is my home park. And I love KD and usually get up there at least once a year.

The thing is that markers are up at Carowinds, they've already done a ton of site work and put up a fence that runs the entire parking lot (almost) in length).

If KD is getting a coaster for 2010, it seems like they might be late getting started. Now it could be they are getting something, but not a huge ride next year.

If both parks got hypers, I'd be a happy camper. But right now I can't see them putting down that much money in one year. And the fact that so much is going on at Carowinds, seems to point to it getting a coaster.

My money is on Carowinds getting one. Shouldn't you KD fanboys be satisfied enough with Dominator?

^Why? It's a "used" coaster. I think they would want a newer one.

Well yeah but not next year. Dominator is an amazing coaster, and they're forgetting the fact that it's pretty much now the best coaster in the park (That's just me though). Yes most everyone "wants" a new coaster year after year, but in reality they don't need it. What Carowinds needs is a large coaster to make them a big, noticeable park.

Carowinds at the moment has 1 coaster that is above 115 feet, Kings Dominion has 3. You think that they're going to be receiving another mammoth before Carowinds? In my eyes, no. That (to me) is why King's Island got theirs, they didn't have a large, monumental coaster. The tallest coaster they had before Diamondback was Son of Beast which although was big, was pretty much a mess up.

This all is just my opinion, and to be honest, I don't really care who gets what next year, I just have my bets on Carowinds getting a new hyper next year.

I think there's enough space with Dominator's introduction that even if hyper coaster construction is not in full force for this off season that's fine if it comes in 2 years. Dominator still has that new-ness tag, well only for KD that could still last another year. It's like leasing a car, the lifeline of newness.

It could be that KD is in the ordering phase of their coaster, and they are doing site work and such to check things out. I know it sounds weird, but its the only thing that makes sense to me.

Maybe KD likes messing with us. Like I said earlier, they were doing stuff behind Anaconda last year.

And if Carowinds is getting a hyper, honestly they won't need another coaster for a very long time. They''ll have 13 coasters, 14 if you count Thunder Road as 2 credits and that is above average if you look at most theme parks across the country. Most are lucky to have 10.

Anyway let me stop talking about my home park in the wrong thread. lol

The documents clearly indicate that the coaster is for 2010.....last year all of the speculation turned out to be nothing but fireworks preps but unlike last season this time markers HAVE been spotted in the area.

But it's going to have it's own footers like Frontier City's Steel Lasso.

They are just going to re-vamp Hypersonic! DUH! It's waiting to be constructed sitting back behind Grizzly. You can see it when you ride.

Well it is official there are some KD Fansite forum members at the park now and there is track being unloaded in the parking lot as I type. They should be uploading some pics today.

The supports are yellow according to the post.

Just read the post from both Clint & Will as they're at the park now & have said that a 3rd semi has just pulled into the lot carrying more goods related to the 2010 coaster.Even if it turns out to be from some other design firm rather than B&M it'll probably be a hyper as they wouldn't normally recieve track this early.

I can hardly wait to see what progress will have been made come june 20th,which is the next time I plan on visiting the park & can hardly wait til Clint & Will upload the pics.

Agreed I will be happy with anything we get. If my wife wasn't heading out this afternoon and I need to take care of the kids I would be heading up there after work just to see what's up. I am 20 mins from the park so something tells me I may be making a bunch of visits up there each week, LOL!
