Wow. How quickly things can change.

Anyway, if anybody is interested I posted some pics in the Carowinds thread with footer markings and other such things going on at Carowinds.

You better not be getting our red track. lol

No telling but the comments from "Wil" on the forum state that the supports do not look like B&M supports that he has seen before. His words are

But anyway I am no expert on track, but the supports look nothing like the B&M supports on Dominator. They actually look smaller.

Not sure if this means an Intamin, Mauer Sohn or what or if it is B&M.

We will have to see what develops down the road I guess.

**Additional Update is that there is a lot of land clearing going on behind Anaconda.

Pics have been posted on KDFansite thread on page 50. http://www.kdfansite.com/gallery/thu...s.php?album=53

No shots of track but several yellow supports. Supports are actually square. They also came in containers with a tarp on the top vs. an open flatbed.

LOTS of land clearing in the pics so the crews have been busy.

My guess is you will be seeing footers dug out and poured soon.

The plot surely thickens.

Greg

Speculation is that this has the same supports as the new iSpeed

iSpeed support
iSpeed (Mirabilandia)

KD Support
http://www.kdfansite.com/gallery/dis...lbum=53&pos=22

This may be a new Intamin launch coaster for KD.

Why are these new square Intamin supports different than the older, round ones?

Here's hoping it is not a mega-lite. I'll still take it if it is of course but does KD really need another small coaster? As far as I can tell mega-lites are all right at 100' and about 2000ish in track length.

KD has nothing over ~160 feet and that is Dominator. I think the park needs a solid 200+ coaster (300+ would make me really happy but I don't see it happening) and something that is nice and long.

I doubt we will get anything like this but it would be nice.

I am still going to say it is an Intamin launch coaster.

Additional pics from today have been posted.

About 48 total supports on-site now, no track.

Lots of land clearing going which is supposedly now extending behind Rebel Yell.

All they need is to do footers and supports first so track can wait. I find it funny I said Mega-lite for Carowinds and there's a possibility one might come to KD. I would have thought KD would get a regular B&M or Intamin hyper. There's no stats yet so anything is possible.

So is the additional clearing going parallel to rebel yell(on the southside) or just up to the turn arounds? if it's going parallel then this may turn out to be one lengthy coaster, which is fine by me.

Man I hope its not a launch coaster... KD has enough of those already even with Hypersonic gone.

I'm glad I've been saying their next big new coaster would be an intamin and that looks to be the case.

Yes most everyone "wants" a new coaster year after year, but in reality they don't need it. What Carowinds needs is a large coaster to make them a big, noticeable park.

Carowinds at the moment has 1 coaster that is above 115 feet, Kings Dominion has 3. You think that they're going to be receiving another mammoth before Carowinds? In my eyes, no. That (to me) is why King's Island got theirs, they didn't have a large, monumental coaster. The tallest coaster they had before Diamondback was Son of Beast which although was big, was pretty much a mess up.

This all is just my opinion, and to be honest, I don't really care who gets what next year, I just have my bets on Carowinds getting a new hyper next year.
The problem is competition. Carowinds is pretty much by itself and does'nt have a great deal of competition to deal with. HRP/FSMP is the only park that comes to mind that would even be remotely close. KD on the other hand is about 1-1.5 hours away (depending on traffic) from Busch Gardens Europe, Six Flags America and if you're going to reach further for competition, HP and even SFGAdv are within a driving distance for a day trip. THAT is why KD has more of a need to regularly build major attractions, because there are multiple other parks in the same area to compete with.

I got a coupon to go to the park cheap before June 14th so I figure I'll get down there and check it out for myself.

Considering that the supports are coming in transport boxes, that would mean that they are coming from overseas.

So I think that pretty much rules out B&M.

Well James, I think that would be very amusing too, but according to many rumors/reports circulating around Screamscape, there is a really good chance it is going to be similar to iSpeed down in Italy, which would make it the parks next tallest coaster (10 feet over Dominator)!

If its like another iSpeed I would think a big gap would still exist: the hyper, unless Cedar Fair is trying to tell us to move on and enter the next generation.

Well to be fair.. rumors... Are just that.

I could say the "coaster" parts are really just pipes and such for a new water slide....

Or we can just wait for the park to say something

So Cedar Fair could redo Volcano and rename it: Hot Magma Stuff 2.

Well I mean.. it could just be general track/support replacement.. Steel coasters DO get track work done to them.. And at this point no one really knows whats going on. So one shouldn't just assume its something new.

That being said, KD is a park I tend to visit yearly... So here's hoping its something good.

I'm thinking it is going to be more similar to Fahrenheit than iSpeed but both rides look awesome to me so it doesn't really matter which one.

Fahernheight's capacity per train is no better than maverick's & the vertical lift is just another gimmick that the park doesn't really need so I'm still hoping that this will be a mega.

The park is not cringing for space like Astroworld and I guess Hershey. I'm not for a vert lift if there's clearly space to spread and there is at KD. I would love it to be like the Intamin Goliath.

i just thought of something
doesnt busch have a contract with B&M i kno they cant build a dive machine but doesnt it have something to do with they cant build in the area for so long also? because if so the coaster cant be a B&M and DOminator wasnt technically built just moved to the location.

Where do people get this nonsense about such things as a non compete clause from?If B&M did this then they'd go out of business.

More clearing has taken place & extends well south of rebel yell & over by waterworks so this is definitely gonna be a big ride.
