This looks to be some kind of speedcoasterhyperhillairtimemachine. Could also be a regular hyper with the new Intamin track design. I have read rumors of a giga which would be awesome, I would love to have another MF type big drop. I would guess some kind of hyper style coaster.

All things aside, KD needs to some attention away from BGE. I personally think that they will get another launched coaster. It's what they were known for, and after getting rid of Hypersonic, they need to shock the public once more. I wouldn't be surprised to see one of the three big German companies build something new here. Maurer, Mack, and Gerstlauer have all built LSM launch coasters by now, I'd like to see one closer to home. And KD can take back the launch title by getting one.

Come to think of it, it's weird that CF parks have so many launched coasters. Two at Cedar Point, two at Kings Dominion, and three at Knott's Berry Farm.

^Three at Cedar Point.

Although it looks like it could be one of the German company coasters, I'm still going with it being a new design from Intamin.

Some serious groundwork appears to have begun with what looks like footers being poured.

How do you know? I'm just curious because pics would be sweet if they're up somewhere.

And for those that find it easier when people post a link to what they are talking about.
http://www.kdfansite.com/gallery/thu...lbum=53&page=9
Its just helpful to add a link as some people may not know what site kd fansite is or where to find it.

Footer machines are on site, drills and other equipment are at work. Some footers are going all ready or at least the base pillons and support colums that will support the footers are going in..

I can't wait til we get a good number of footers down and we can use that to throw some more guesses out there.

Apparently more track is there according to Coaster Crews twitter.

Transfer/station type track, essentially confirming this is definitely Intamin

BIG UPDATE!!

Looks like KD is getting an Intamin Giga.

Check the pics at this thread on themeparkreview.

Look particularly at the "Washer Crate" pick where it says Intamin on the labels AND Gigacoaster

I wonder though will this be one of those new mega-lites or a true giga coaster like Millennium Force.

Either way, I'm going to KD next year for sure!

It'll be a giga, otherwise it would be labeled as a mega coaster on the shipping label.

Enjoy your B&M hyper at carowinds Wes,I'm happy as a clam that KD is going giga for 2010.

^ I'm happy for you guys as well. And I'm a bigger B&M hyper fan, than Intamin fan so I'm a very happy camper.

KD and Carowinds have both needed big coasters for a long time, I'm just shocked its happening on the same year!

Maybe the coaster wars will start up again!

What's the difference between a mega-lite and a giga coaster? Also, do you think it will be like MF or SD 2000? I'd rather see one like SD 2000 with steeper drops and quicker maneuvers.

KD needed a shot in the arm after being in the background with those launchers, no hyper. This would be some great pimp juice: a giga.

Eventually I could see myself doing a smaller KD-BGE, Carowinds, (I can't believe I missed)Camden Park, Kennywood? loop of a trip. I'd rather go to Missouri or Chicago/WI area first.

Intamin Mega-lites are compact layouts that give excellent pops of air (some enthusiasts like them more than regular megas and hypers). They're usually around 100 feet high and about 2500 feet long. I think there are only 4 of them--1 in Japan, 1 in a Scandinavian country, and I think the last two are going into the two Happy Valley parks in China.
Intamin gigas are coasters that are 300 feet or higher like Millennium Force.

I just want to add that won't 2010 be the 10th anniversary of MF? This new one at KD can maybe sort of be considered an homage to the first giga. It'll be interesting to see how this new style of track turns out.

Giga = 300+ feet tall

Mega-lite = not quite a hyper (under 200 feet tall) but features many similar elements, lots of airtime hills and over bank turns for example.

^ beat me to it...

^^^If you're coming to WI, then you might as well stop at NU and VF!

Sure. VF is supposedly for sale, and meanwhile KD is getting a GIGA COASTER!!!!
Where is the Justis in this!

I'm hoping that it will be like a large Expedition GeForce. Those are some odd looking track pieces though. I also wouldn't be surprised if it had an LIM lift hill like Maverick.

Also, Mega-lite is basically a smaller, cheaper mega coaster, and so far all of those built or under construction appear to be clones.

I'm still surprised that Cedar Fair went with Intamin considering all the problems with dragster and to a lesser extent Maverick.

But I think the park really makes the request for ride type, more than corporate.

Despite Dragster and Maverick, I just get the impression that MF is still CP's signature attraction so if CG is trying to put KD on the map as a major player an Intamin Giga might be the way to go (assuming the people who put packing labels on shipments of washers aren't screwing with the enthusiasts).

^Screw the enthusiasts. They only make a up a fraction of all attendances at parks anyhow. Can you imagine a park with coasters that catered to that of only enthusiasts? It would sink faster than the Titanic!

Working in packaging myself, we don't "screw" with the outside world. We're given orders to make something, and we do, no questions asked.

Just watch there will still be some misinterpretation of the shipping label and it'll be a larger hyper. Tricky Germans.

But...but I thought Cedar Fair only cared about Cedar Point? What's going on? This park getting a giga, another park getting a hyper, other parks recently getting hypers, woodies and inverts...dogs and cats living together...mass hysteria!

I'm really excited about this though seriously speaking. I've always loved Millennium Force and never got the chance to ride the other Intamin hypers but the other Intamins at CP are great and just something I like about them (when they're working) and I'm curious what this new coaster will be. I think there must be something unique or demanding about the ride style for the different track being used. I think I definitely want to get out that way next year to visit KD for the first time along with maybe a few other parks along the way or in the area namely Busch Gardens Europe and possibly Hershepark if I can work it in since it's farther.

I can't tell from the messages above if you all know this is confirmed already, but it is indeed a giga coaster as shown on the label of these washers:

Yes.....Dick Finally realized he owns more parks than just Cedar Point. It's about time.....

But on a serious note, I have a feeling KD will start to get a lot more attention as CF is trying to keep people there and straying next door to BGE. Before you know it, BGE will build another big coaster to compliment this new attraction at KD. Despite the economy, the coaster wars could start back up again!

Parks keep going with Intamin because they're the cheapest.

I know the package says giga but I'm still not convinced that it will be a coaster over 300 feet tall.

Yes, I think the Coaster Wars have actually started! What with Manta VS Hollywood Rip, Ride, Rockit, now Busch Gardens Africa will be adding a coaster, and Busch Gardens has talked about making a new coaster as well as removing one (possibly for room?), Kings Island with Diamondback, and Cedar Point should be getting anew one soon to battle Six Flags Magic Mountain for most roller coasters (which will be happening next year)! Wow, that is a lot. WDW even went as far as remodeling Space Mountain just so it could have something that seemed like a new coaster!

Yes they are a fraction cheaper then B&M, yet offer a much much much better bang for the buck. I still wouldn't say a company selling coasters for upwards of 25+ million dollars is cheap by anymeans.

It doesn't matter who's not convinced the PROOfs right there in black and white on the shipping lable. It even states on the Intamin website "Giga Coaster - This newly developed coaster belongs to the family of ultra high coasters, with a "first-drop" of 92 m resulting in speeds of 150 km/h." Intamin - Pioneer of Amusement Rides - Roller Coasters

So this isn't something that CP just made up it's actually the manufactures term for any coaster they build of 300+ feet.

I just can't believe it's Cp /KD building it they must of got one heck of a sweet deal .

I'm just bummed with the fact that SFMM may never see one of these glorious Intamin monsters under the New rule of SF, Also I may just be looking at it to much but does anyone else find it alittle funny Mark Shapiro just recently denounced Giga coasters all while CF is building one, at first he was saying no more Goliaths this time he clearly states Gigas, maybe he's known all along and wanted to make sure WE knew that WE were'nt getting any.

I'm still praying hard for CF to squeeze an Intamin megalite Into Knotts somewhere pleaseeeeeee, I don't care how much the fangirls cry of the stinkin charm being ruined.
