It's confusing. It was reported that Carowinds had the #13 on their invitation and that coaster will make 13 for their park. So they don't count Thunder Road twice. It's not important. I was just wondering if they were getting something else like a kids coaster to get to that count.

I think this coaster having OTSRs is to be more accomodating for larger riders. That's my guess.

The ride looks great and I'd like to make my way to Kings Dominion to ride this thing.

Looks awesome, but will it have enough air time? I guess we'll have to wait until April.

This coaster wasn't what I thought it would be. Semi-Disappointed. The layout isn't all that great & I dunno how they're getting away with calling some of those hills "Airtime Hills". Yes it is an oversized megalite, but I really think KD could've done better than this.

Probably because MF is one of the most over-rated coasters in the states. I've never been anything but disappointed by MF- In fact- my favorite part of the ride is the trip up the lift hill and the view. There's no air on the first drop, you crawl over the hills and it takes the airtime away on the rest of the drops, i felt some forces when the train was hitting 90 and changing direction, but besides that, I'd skip MF for TTD anyday.

Over at TPR its been said that at media day, Kings Dominion higher ups who announced the ride were asked about the OTSR's, and said that the image of the train was wrong and that no OTSR's will be used. Whether or not that's true who knows, but i'm keeping my fingers crossed.

I am actually impressed with this ride, don't ask me why. I like how the first drop transitions into that low ground turn, something you don't always see. I don't know how much airtime those hills will provide, but we won't know till we're sitting on the ride.

It looks to me the rides a little small for being 300 feet tall, but looks like it'll pack a punch the entire ride. I'm excited to see this thing go up!

I don't think you understand the term "mega-lite." Those things are built for massive airtime and speed. Why do you think Kawasemi was in Mitch Hawker's top ten this year?

I actually really like the layout. It seems to do a lot more than Millennium Force. I should also add that I've never ridden MF(hope to next year though). I said in the Carowinds coaster thread that I was afraid that KD would end up getting MF's little brother. That might not be such a bad thing.

I think Intimidator will be a great addition to KD, though it may not be the best coaster in the world. If there are indeed no OTSR's, this could easily blow past MF (hell, it could probably do that with OTSR's). Though, having never ridden SROS (now Bizarro) @ SFNE, I don't really know what it takes to earn the title of "best coaster in the world", and Intimidator may even earn that prestigious title.

Actually, I disagree about the layout completely. I feel like for a coaster of this size, they could have definitely improved the airtime. By the looks of it, on those three hills, there is floater airtime at most, just like MF's hills. Those transitions are also going to hurt with the restraints. Such quick transitions at 90 mph with those restraints? Kind of worried about those, which pretty much are the entire ride after that first drop and hill. I just feel like the could have done so much more past a drop and some turns.

I think the ride would have been better if it only did left turns...

But seriously, it doesn't look that impressive. It's great to see another Giga coaster from Intamin, but I was expecting something more.

You've obviously never ridden MF after a very hot July day in the very back seat on one of the last trains of the day. The airtime I got that ride was some of the most intense I have ever experienced, at the end of the ride it pretty much flew through the brake run.

Unless I missed it, will this also have an elevator style lift?

Elevator style is pretty much mandatory. Given the theme I would never see the theme fitting giant hills. It's got quite a bit of lefts and direction changes.

This ride is going to kick the crap out of MF. Steeper drop, quicker turns, more hills...MF won't compare.

Also, if you watch one of the POV videos you'll see the cable lift hill

It is like peole having arguments about who is the best college football team for next year in March.

Seriously, it is a good looking ride. MF is my six favorite steel coaster, and this one looks similar. Frankly, the air time on MF is not great after riding Diamondback, Behemoth, and Bizarro. MF is more of a speed coaster than air time coaster. Having rode Diamondback over 200 times this year, the air time of MF felt rather dull even riding on last row. Bizarro (SFNE) blew me away however. Intimidator looks more like MF than Bizarro. Maybe some people wanted a taller version of Bizarro. That may be why people are disappointed.

The way I see it, a coaster is a coaster. The only thing is that this looks like an over-sized Maverick. When people hear "giga coaster," they expect airtime. this coaster doesn't look like it will offer much airtime, but the turns do look intense. My guess is that the Carowinds coaster will be the airtime coaster.

Ohhhhhh, I see now, I rode it at the wrong time...wtf? A coaster that holds its own would deliver all those "forces" you described regardless of the day or time. I don't want to have to wait till 9:43 PM at the end of a hot day that hit 97 degrees on July 24th, 2008 and have to sit on the left seat in the very back row of the train in order to actually feel forces on a ride.

I'll just go ride something else. MF = LAWN ORNAMENT

Who are you, Robb Alvey?

People have a right to be dissapointed or excited about a ride by just looking at the layout, plain and simple. Its just like saying "How can you be excited about this ride? You haven't even ridden it yet!" Whatever people think about the ride isn't going to ruin YOUR opinion of the ride, is it?

If people were expecting a big honking airtime monster then yeah, they're going to be a little dissapointed about the lack of hills on the ride. And that's okay! Maybe once they ride their opinions will change, and that's okay too!

I for one think this ride is going to have an experience that really can't be compared to photos or a computer generated POV. I do wish it had a couple hills made purely for air, but i think forceful ground hugging turns will make me get over it.

Shouldn't be disappointed in something til you try it. Then if it meets dislike for you fine say it. But don't knock it til you try it.

I have to get over the correlation the higher the speeds the more stretched out the hills and turns could be.

But this ride will be fantastic. A Millie and Maverick hybrid.

I like this coaster so far. I mean, it could have had more hills, but so what if it doesn't? It's still very compact and fast paced. You want more airtime? Get in line and ride again. Rate the coaster for what it is, not what it isn't. I bet the airtime over the 300 ft. hill alone will satisfy 75% of the riders.

I'm just blown away here. So, the Coaster community spooges over MF. THen, a ride comes along that has a steeper drop, the same amount of hills, and more high speed areas....and it's crap?

SERIOUSLY?
