This is actually Premier's first LSM launched coaster I believe (as opposed to LIMs). A few people have already ridden it and the reviews are pretty positive. Very re-rideable.

I like it.

It looks like a mini-coaster in a sort of way, but I like the flow and the elements, they all seem to go together very nicely.

I wouldn't mind having one of these things at my home park, looks like a lot of thrill for a lower price tag.

The aerial pic Kennywood has reminds me of the entry into the rolls of CHILLER. The first half flow looks great.

I'll probably be stopping down at the park tomorrow for the grand opening, anyone else plan on being there?

Wish we could have been there this morning for media day our schedule just didn't permit for it. However, I plan on going down during the summer to do an exclusive on it. Should be fun.

I rode it today. My initial thought- better than Maverick at CP. Sky Rocket was a ton of fun! The inversions were designed perfectly - you get great airtime through the barrel roll and corkscrew all the while upside down. I was a bit skeptical of the holding brakes but they really enhance the ride experience. Kennywood has a real winner!

Just got back from the park and got 4 rides in on Sky Rocket!(in addition to one ride on PR and one ride on Aero 360) The line was surprisingly short when i was there and was roughly 45 minutes the entire time, and was down to 30 minutes by the time I left at around 3. Now onto the ride itself, of the four times I rode, 2 were in the first row, one was in the second row, and one was in the 5th row, and after those 4 rides I can easily tell you that this is definitely a front row coaster. The airtime in the front two rows seemed much more prominent then in the 5th row. The airtime going over the first hill after the launch was pretty intense and the cliffhanger element seemed to be done just right. As mentioned already, the zero g roll and corkscrew provided for some great hangtime. After the corkscrew though the ride pretty much dies as the surf curves were a huge disappointment and the final two airtime hills were just average. Overall the ride was great and was extremely smooth and definitely a perfect fit for Kennywood.

If I'm banned, how am I supposed to post pictures and video from the event? I guess I can't...

I was shocked at first and then realized Andrew's sense of humor. You're ok.

Surf curves - I had called their suckage. I didn't care for them on Whirlwind at Seabreexe. I thought they were a waste of track. Proved again.

The front seat advice is very key. Thanks for that find.

Leo, I know based on my review that your assumption was right, but I just don't find the logic in basing your opinion on a Premier launch coaster off a Maurer spinning coaster...

Just that particular section of track. It's on Steel Dragon at Waldameer too.http://www.rcdb.com/2657.htm?p=27286

Why not? Aren't they kinda the same element? I can understand if this was something more extreme like a new company did a Norwegian loop or something, but surf curves...unless there's a big variance in turns in angles will probably always be the same.

The train reminds me of the first Intamin hyper trains; fold out chairs on a chassis.

Sky Rocket - 6/30

What a mistitled ride. I don't find accelerating to 50 miles per hour to be close to a rocket and you don't go high enough to be in the sky.

I'll have to say I was underwhelmed by this ride. I rode on the 2nd row. While standing in line I noticed how slow the ride is and was hoping for a nice ride. And a nice ride is what I got. Nice.

About the best thing I can say about the ride is that it's silky smooth.

It didn't provide much excitement for me. I will say that there is this one section that is like a slalom or a zig-zag that is new to me and quite fun.

It's not a bad ride. It is certainly fun. It just doesn't make me want to ride it again.

Attachment 16984

I'd ride it again, but only if the line was short.

I think the ride is a perfect fit for people enjoying Kennywood.

This isn't a CP ride or SFMM or anything like that. It's geared for families with older kids and most everyone can ride it.

I can't wait to go down and do the write up on it.

It's certainly a great fit for that. I'm just grading it against the coasters that I like (independent of its intention or location). And if I never rode it again I wouldn't bat an eye.

I heard a rumor that there is a design flaw of the trains. If you're sitting in row 4 the headrests in row 3 may hit your knees, especially if you are taller. I've heard there are now height restrictions on row 4.
