I doubt it, I mean they had enough trouble with the phantom's revenge. It is not like they have a lot of space either.

I don't think they can afford a B&M.

Yeah, I would definately rule this one out. I mean where would they put it. They don't have nearly enough room.

Kennywood has 50 acres of land near the park. They aren't getting a new coaster this year, they are getting a flat ride. And I've heard some benches have been painted. And they could have more money than you think. According to a recent magazine article about Kennywood, they have no debt, compared to Six Flags who is like $6 billion in debt.

Wow Six Flags needs to get on the ball or their investors are going to get mad. I have heard that by like 2005 they will get a inverted from B&M but I don't know. Maybe they'll get a Arrowbatic!

There is no new coaster coming this year, so don't count on it. There *is* a new flat ride coming, and it will be "electrifying"! In either 2003 or 2004 look for the Beemer inverted or a terrain woodie from CCI.

I'd be very surprised if Kennywood got a new coaster this year. They just got Phantom's Revenge and that was a major undertaking. I did hear something about the area between Jack Rabbit and Racer being used for a B&M inverted. I hope this comes true, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

Ok, I will spill the beans. When I said "electrifying" above, I was referring to the Zamperla Power Surge, which is what Kennywood will be getting next year.

I think they will only get a new flat ride for next year since they are planning to be open after Labor Day, cause they plan on having some sort of FrightFest during October. They plan on building a new Terror Vision 3D simulator and a few haunted houses near the picnic pavillion. You can read all about it at http:/www.kpunlimited.com/

That beemer invert has been a rumor for years. It may happen someday, but people have been saying that for a long time.

For all you newbies, we have eben through this a thousands times. Kennywood does have much space. They have bought most of the houses to the west of the park, and they own above Kennywood Blvd also. They do have enough room for more coasters, when they build them IN TIME. Calm down...

i was looking around on coaster net and went on the kennywood park gallery.at the top on the list of coasters on the right of the page it says its going to be a steel looping coaster and its going to be built or open in 2003

here is the link to the page:

Well, since a lot of you say that they are buying land, because they are pressed for space, I think that something could happen. Maybe 2003-2005, in that area. But I am not sure they would buy land and build a new coaster in the same year, especially with the economy.

The rumor I've been hearing is that a new midway will open in 2003 and an inverted coaster will open on that midway in 2004.

I personally am hoping for another woodie. A CCI or GCI would fit right in with The Racer, Jackrabbit, and Thunderbolt. Also, they don't take up as much space, and would definitely put Kennywoodn at the top of the list as the park with the best woodies.

They take their time w/ coasters. What was wrong with Phamtom's revenge? I could see a Great Bear/Talon ish B&M or a CCI or GCI in the next 6 years.

6 years is a good time frame. I see Kennywood Inc. purchasing another small park sometime in the next 5 years too. Possibly Lakemont or DelGrosso Park, both near Altoona, PA. Actually heard rumors about both of those.

I think K-wood will eventually get an invert. Although an impulse may be possible with the cheapness (WT is only 9 million)

here's the main rumors:
2002: Power Surge
2003: New Midway
2004: B&M Inverted

Kennywood does have land, it's just currently occupied...they are exploring their options.

I do see them getting at LEAST one coaster and buying a small park within the next 5-6 years. Kennywood does have money, they only have income from 4 parks...

Money

I work at Kennywood. I think a new Midway would be on new land. Remember, Kennywood deals a lot with history. They don't tend to get rid of old things that quickly. They have plenty of money. They make enough, that we all got REALLY BIG raises last year. Besides the money they make is crazy....a family of 4 is over 100 dollars...I think that says enough. Also, I drove past Kennywood today, and It looks like they had a truck with something on it, and The Flying Carpet is still there...Maybe they are going to remodel it.
