Question SFoG 2004...

I had heard several rumors about SFOG getting a junior hyper or even a regular hyper next year. Is there any truth behind these statements? I really hope so because SFOG could use a good airtime machine.

I know we have Cyclone and all but that just doesnt cut it. I need more! Although I think MindBender offers some awesome air in the back seat!

I doubt it,you guys got a coaster back in 02 so your'e still good for a couple more years.

SFA on the other hand which hasn't gotten a coaster since Batwing in 01 is overdue for a new one by 2004 or 2005 at the latest.

Well, dont count it out. Last season for S:UFs opening day, I rode front row with one of the chief engineers for B&M, and he said that next year he heard talk of a junior hyper over the ampitheatre next year. Well, he said that lastt year...so maybe those plans are just on hold!

No, Over Georgia will be expecting soon (a new ride that is!) in the 2004 season. With all of that bling bling sucked from Time Warner, Inc from that heated lawsuit, Over Georgia is ready to bounce a tier up within a couple of years.

And, the Partnership Agreement with Six Flags requires that money be invested in the park every year (I think it's like 8% of the profits). Since they got nothing this year, they will definitely get something next year. SFOT has the same agreement, since they are not wholly owned by SF. They CAN get things every other year, as long as the invested money is at least 8% of total profits for the combined years.

SFOT just got a ride so it's somewhat doubtful that they may get one in 04,but then again SFOT is part of the big 4 of SF,so they're more likely to get something at the expense of the other parks.

I still think SFOG will get something next year. It will be 2 years since their last but I still think that they will get something.

I am contemplating a move from CA to the Atlanta Area within the next year, depending.....I'd love to see SFOG get a 4D (maybe one of the other versions on Arrows site as I understand X has had some problems), a B&M floorless with an original layout, or a B&M hypertwister like Raging Bull. A few flat rides would be cool as well. SFOG was the first theme amusement park I ever went to as a child, I remember when the Dahlonega was the park's "big" coaster, and when GASM opened.

SFOG seems to have a good relationship with getting mid size Beemers, so I doubt a hyper is in order...but I bet we will get a small "first of a kind" B&M 4-D.

That would make some sense...just like they tested the B&M flyer concept for Six Flags. Especially if Port Aventura is getting one, it could be first in the U.S., like SUF was. The only problem I see is that it's still such a vague rumor that PA is getting one, and that B&M is even building such a thing...

I'd still wager on an Intamin Junior Hyper. Possibly a clone or near clone of Goliath at SFH. A hyper would round out the collection at SFOG nicely.

Well the Screamscape site(yes, i know it's unreliable)says that we are getting a Scooby-Doo dark ride and a beema hyper. Both make sense b/c monster plantation is boring and SFOG has a good relationship with B&M. I think that SFOG should build the first ArrowBATic coaster.(you could put it in the USA plaza near Gotham city)

NO DON'T KILL MP!!! That's the greatest ride. I would be pissed if that was gone. I wouldn't really want an ArrowBATic either. I bet we get a hyper in '04 or '05. My theory, although it is not going to happen, would be that if they can't get DV up and running consistantly, they take that and Ninja down, and make a HUGE hyper over that area. But I don't think SF would take down two rides for the sake of one.

I agree with Bimmer to and extent. First if Deja Vu does not start running then I think SFOG will get rid of it now to replace Deja Vu I would imagine at the most a wild mouse. However I remember rumors of them doing away with the Batman Parking lot. I dont suspect we will see this but we could very well see the parking lot trimmed somewhat to make room for something and what if this something just happend to have a station where Deja Vu is.

to tear down MP would be a shame, scooby doo can go someplace else....i love the sherriff saying "stay out of the marsh"....its quite fun....

the best place for a new coaster would be using part of the parking space by batman, which is unused 99 percent of the time anyway, or near the stage by S:UF and GASM.

I have only been on Monster Plantation once back during my first visit in 1999. I found the ride to be very amusing. I also consider it to be one of the few family rides at SFOG that parents and small children can enjoy. True the Scooby Due theme might be good I still believe that if it ain't broke don't fix it. Another problem with losing MP is that uniqueness will also go away. Which sounds more original Scooby Doo themed ride or ride that goes through a friendly monster mansion. If you have to build the Scooby Doo ride then why not put it elsewhere keeping MP.

Monster Plantation is a great ride; I went on it back in the 1980s on my last visit to SFOG. I recall going on it as a very young child while it was still "Tales Of The Okefenokee", actually! (Somewhere I still have photos taken inside that ride as well as of when the GASM opened!) I think that they should leave Monster Plantation as it is, in my opinion it adds to the "Southern" theming of the park.

However-progress is progress, and I forsee that they may retool it with the Scooby Doo theme. If they do, they should at least theme it to some kind of related theme, maybe one of the old Scooby Doo cartoons about a Confederate Ghost or the Okefenokee Swamp. Then it might be better.

I still think SFOG needs a new, big coaster. After reading the rumors online, I forsee them as getting either a B&M floorless (clone of "Scream/Medusa" or maybe a totally unique layout, one can hope) or a B&M hyper or hyper-twister (maybe a clone of "Raging Bull/Nitro" or maybe a totally unique layout). Would be really cool if they got the first B&M "4-d" if that actually is in the works, just as they got the first American flyer. Whatever it is, looking forward to it as I'm visiting SFOG next year.

I'am guessing some kind of kiddie coaster seeing as they don't really have that many and they have put in 3 major rides in the last 3 years. I would say the next major coaster would come in 2006.

The reason I think that SFOG will definately NOT get a clone is because we simply don't really have much room to slap down a premade ride. I think, what ever we get, it's going to have to be custom unless they plan on taking up a lot of the parking lot.

Also, I bet that since we don't really have a large ride (execpt for DV, our tallest coaster is Ninja at a measly 122ft), we will probably get a hyper. Probably B&M, especially after all the problems Intamin coasters have been having in the past few years.

i see a hyper coming next year... if it is, itll probably either be an B&M or intamin, B&M more likelly , we need intamin! and i dont think itll be a clone either, it might be VERY SIMILar but not a clone, it would take up too much space... something i think would look cool in SFOG, is a clone of Dragon Khan found at universal port adventure, but that wont be happening...

Cool

I'd love to see something similar to Expedition Ge-Force at SFOG. 188' drop and zooming through the trees with wicked airtime... That would be wonderful for the park. Another unique terrain coaster and an Intamin could draw a lot of enthusiasts...

But I fear that I agree with the B&M being more likely. Ah well, I'm sure whatever they come up with will be be fun...

Hopefully a B&M 4D would work if we got one. I don't know if I could take another ride with constant downtime!!!

By the way slipknot, taken directly from the Six Flags website on the Ninja page: Height 122 feet

One thing that can be scratched off the list is doing away with Deja Vu I was down there on Friday and it had gone from the world's coolest looking lawn ornaments to what I would say is the best ride in the park. It ran all day without one single breakdown . Now I am pretty sure that the Ninja will be leaving soon simply looking at its line Friday. (walk-on all day while GASM and SUF had long lines)

ninja is always/ has always been a walkon, at least since 2000 when I started going.

and some people happen to like ninja because of that (me)

i really do hope we get something next year. hopefully a intamin hyper, but maybe if this B&m 4d would be justlike arrows 4d, then it would also be a good bet, but then again, another prototype? (b&ms that is)

btw, you do know that its Scorcher not Schorcher right>? lol, just checking

I'm leaning towards them getting a Junior Hyper, very similar to Goliath at SFH. They have to build low because of the airport, so it will come in under 200', but make up for it with unique design and elements. Intamin will be looking to make some deals in the US if the problems with TTD soured their relationship with Cedar Fair. SF seems to have had good luck with Goliath, and they now seem to have the kinks out of the S:ROSs. Or, they could get an impulse...

for the last time, there is no height restriction... the airport is lined up with the park as so it wont interfere, it has a 3 mile radius...

it has been throughly discussed here - http://sfog.proboards6.com/index.cgi...isplay&start=0 - and at the last page, second to last post, there is a link to the cobb county master plan.
