PCW Splashworks to become Boomerang Bay in 2006?

During the summer, when I was employed there, I had heard that PCW's Splashworks was going to be expanded and re-themed as Boomerang Bay. This was going to include some new slides, as well as a total re-themeing. Anybody heard anything else about this?

It seems like every Paramount Park that doesn't already have Boomerang Bay has rumors that it might get re-themed. While it is a good idea for the American Parks, I don't think it would be for PCW. I don't see how a theme like that would fit into a park like PCW, but that's just me.

I like the theme of BB, but I don't want it to be over-used. It's already in two out of the five parks and that's enough for me. I would love for each park to have their own theming in the water park department, but I doubt that.

I have a feeling that this rumor is true. By the way, if Splashworks did get a Boomerang Bay re-theming, would they keep the slides they have now and just re-theme them or would we get all new slides. I just noticed that the slides we have now are kinda australian like. ( Barracuda Blaster ) even the design of the entrance signs looks like something from the land down under!

^I would make most sense to keep the old slides, plus add new ones.

Plus it'll take away some of the crouds at least during hot days.

I wouldn't be overwhelmed by the decision but just a kinda 'I don't really care' kinda mood.

A little bit of column A, a little bit of column B. There are some slides that are going to be replaced, but a lot of them will be staying.

There's 3 things I don't like about re-theming Splashworks:
-No good view of Minebuster (if they remove that bridge)
-More wait for another ride
-I'm not interested in an Australian themed water park....

Wha? So PKI gets some much needed respect... Anyways, I have been on that racing slide you like so much! Very VERY cool! There are 4 tubes and going in tube #3 spits you out on the far right. Tub #4 puts you on the inside and so forth. In other words: Inside tubes lead to the out-side. Out-side tubes lead to the inside. Only bad part is going through the turn, this jet of water comes out of no where and gets you right in the eye!

I'm sure this rumor is true. I see PCW, PKD & PC getting BB in 2006 or atleast PCW & PC.

Agreed. With PKI and PGA already getting "Boomeranged" then I expect to see this at the other parks within the next few years.

^ Agreed...I think that sooner or later all the parks will be branded with the Boomerang Bay name, but isn't PGA the only one that names theirs "Crocodile Dundees" Boomerang Bay?

That is correct, and hopefully it will be the only one.

Well, Boomerang Bay would be cool at other PP parks because most of their waterparks do need an update, but I just would hate to see them all get the same theming. That just makes the parks closer to being just alike which I do not want them to be. I just hope at least one park does something different, but still along the lines of BB. Just enough to stand out above the rest. I mean, if there is a potential theming that could be used to better make the park that would be really cool if they used it. Like Carowinds could used Carolina Bay and do some theming of the Carolina's but I think that those days are long gone, unfortunatly.

Believe me...you don't want that. Any slides that PCW is trashing is for a very good reason...after a while, Fibreglass breaks down, and it becomes very painful to slide down...you end up getting fibreglass in your back, Definitely not fun! The only way to change that is to replace any sections of the slide that are worn out. And if you're gonna replace one section, why not replace the entire slide?

Good point dzmatt, thats deffinatly not something I would want to experience. I say out with the old and in with the new! Good bye The Plunge! Good bye Barracuda Blaster! Good bye Wipe Out! Good bye Black Hole!

HELLO, MASTER BLASTER! Hello, Tazmanian Typhoon! Hello, Boomerang Bay!

Personally, I cant wait for the new Boomerang Bay expansion if it does come, which I truly believe it will. It will probably change my perspective on the waterpark @ PCW dramastically. It will convince me to go ride the waterslides for once...

Noooo, we don't want any old PCW slides.

Sadly Carowinds is now part of a major face change for Paramount so don't expect any Carolina themeing anymore. I would not be suprised if in 5 years Carolina Boardwalk has another name change.

Wildfyre, I was reffering to the slides that PKI Boomerang Bay has. If they replaced our Barracuda Blaster with a Tazmanian Typhoon type slide, it would probably be more popular than Barracuda Blaster and it would also look a lot more impressive.

As for the Black Hole, yeah it should probably stay.

The racing slide @ PKI looks amazing! That would be much more fun then the Riptide Racer!

I doubt they will go any where but its possible.

Say, if they did get rid of any of the slides, which ones do you think they'd sell? I think they'd sell The Supersoaker, Whirlwinds and maybe Wipeout.

Boomerang Bay=New paint job anyone?

But seriously. A lot of those slides are already impressive. Maybe new paint, new slides and editing could make it better. Plus, they could get rid of the concrete and put some sort of foam type floor.

Yeah! Something brown to make it look like a sandy beach! That would be cool. Palm trees all around! They could retheme Pumphouse and call it "The Uluru Playground", well thats kinda cheesey but i'm sure they could make it look awesome.

I think that if anyone painted the slides a new color and adding a few new slides and attractions that it could probably be pulled off as a Boomerang Bay park. But Australia in Canda? Come on.

They need a master blaster, plus new paint jobs.

My only hope is that if they decide to further expand the water park, regardless if it stays as Splash Works or is rethemed to BB, is that it is included in the standard pass and won't require separate admission.

Put me in the camp that believes in a BB retheme coming soon to all of the Paramount parks.

We've seen it already before with waterworks & other theme park ride installations,(DZ,TR:TR,IJ:ST ETC.) that usually when one park does something they almost always follow through with the remaining parks in the chain making similar additions although some are made later than others.

That's true. So if were "not" at a park, where are we?

If this does happen, I just hope it doesnt mean more editing for Minebuster. My greatest fear is that it'll turn out like PGA and have 2 years of BB.

I hope they do like in 2001. They added Shockwave and a few slides and some other stuff too.
