SFA Bigger & Wetter 2005 SEASON + Park Improvements

We already know that SFA is promising a BiGger & WeTter 2005 but what exactly does that mean? Also, Not to mention the fact that Mind Eraser (vekoma SLC) will celebrate 10 years next may and rumors have it that SFA will give MIND ERASER new colors, new trains (with improvements), & new themeing to top off its 10 year celebration. Next year, Mind Eraser Will be Vekomas 4th Oldest SLC.

At least they are getting something new, and even though the Proslides are getting a little over-used, they still are fun waterslides.

I hope the improvements of Mind Eraser are true because that would be great. Any SLC to get improvements would be great really. Especially the extremely rough ones.

I hope Mind Eraser gets redone. I might get to the park next year. Why can't Six Flags lay off the Tornados? They are being thrown into every SF waterpark it seems. Of course almost all of their rides are overused

Now thats something to look foward to next year. Any improvement on Mind Eraser would be a welcome one. Last time i went to SFA i could only ride it once as it was by far the roughest SLC i had been on.

New trains would be nice.

This was from screamscape.... So I don't think you can count on any coaster trains redone.

2005 - Hurricane Harbor - Semi-Confirmed - (11/19/04) Our latest rumors claim that the waterpark will add a Proslide Mammoth (Family Raft) and Proslide Tornado (Funnel). I’ve also heard that the Kids Cove area will get redone, but most of the current attractions may end up with new names and some new themeing throughout the area.

I know a couple of people that have driven by the park recently. Nothing has been observed as being done to anything at the park that you can see from 214. All of the existing water slides are still standing and nothing has been painted and their isn't any sign of a crane around the water park that would be needed to erect the steel structure for a water slide.

They're also adding a proslide mammoth family style slide in addition to the tornado & kids cove rennovation.....the real question is where in the heck these two slides can fit into the current waterpark?

My guess is the tornado would go behind monsoon lagoon (next to ME),as for the mammoth who knows? it would've been much better if they had taken some of the older slides out such as deerpark plunge instead.

So far I've heard nothing whatsoever about ME getting any work done to it....SF doesn't really use ride anniversaries as an excuse to do something to improve said ride, still it would be great to see ME (& a few other rides) get paint & new trains(with properly engineered restraints) are a must for this particular coaster but like I said I don't really see SFA spending the extra money at this time to install new trains when in their eyes the current trains in operation on ME are just fine.

Actually BatwingFan, SFA did a nice job of celibrating Wild One's 75th anniversary two years ago. Not only was the 75th anniversary noted on the website, but the coaster alsp recieved a brand new logo and some major structural work. Nothing major, but it was noted. As for the fact that Mind Eraser is only 10 years old, I'd guess any celibration would be little if any considering it's only 10 years old as compared to Wild One's 75 years.

As for the waterpark, NOTHING is confirmed, no Tornado, no Family Tube Slide, no change to the kiddie cove area. However, you can make assumptions based on the following hints directly provided by the park:

-"TROPICAL FUN WARNING! Hurricane Forecast for 2005! Next year will be BETTER and WETTER than Ever!" (provided by the park webpage)
-"The 2005 season will be here before you know it, and we are putting a “ tropical twist” on the park, making it better and wetter then ever! The forecast might be for snow soon, but this summer it’s for hurricane-sized fun, so watch for details." (provided by a park e-mail)
-no where on the parks "shows/events" page is Paradise Island mentioned; specifically, the 4th of July event that is ALWAYS held in Paradise Island is no where to be seen
-SFDL is confirmed through the mailer to be getting a Proslide Tornado and has the following hint on their webpage: "Stay tuned for our big announcement! It's going to BLOW you away!" SFKK has a similar hint and is also rumored to be getting a Proslide Tornado. SFA's hints are considerably different.

I drove by the park yesterday, and I can confirm that there is no visiable construction going on in the park (though the development across from the park is expanding considerably). However, I present the following disclaimer...look at SFGAm's construction webpage. I'm guessing their 2005 expansion is going to be larger than SFA's, it's scheduled to open around the same time as SFA's, and Chicago will undoubtedly have a worse winter than Washington, DC will. At the moment, work at SFGAm has progressed little more than beyond ground work with initial cement work JUST begining. While you can see a lot at SFA from the road, especially with the leaves off the trees, you really cannot see anything under 20' off the ground, so even if construction had started at SFA, chances are you wouldn't see anything from the road anyways.

As for what SFA is getting in 2005, based ONLY on the hints, I'd say a name change from Paradise Island to Hurricane Harbor is nearly certain. I'd also guess that while a ProSlide Tornado will probably be part of the expansion, it will not be the only addition. One possibility that would fit the hints would be if SFA built a "Hurricane Mountain" slide complex similar to the one they built at SFWOA with several tube and body slides. SFA really lacks body slides and their tube slides are just so, so. A family water slide could very well be possible as could a tall "freefall" body slide. SFA lacks all of those seemingly essential slides. However, everything is all rumors at this point so I guess we'll just have to wait another month or two for an official press release, or at least until ProSlide releases an announcement to Amusement Buisness.

Actually that was WO's 85th anniversary of existance which was celebrated with the new sign on the station as well as an 85 lap marathon(for charity)back in 02.....makes you wonder what they'll do for the rides 20th anniversary at the park in 06.

As we all know by now SFA usually doesn't start construction of new attractions until january or february(even coasters).....hence the reason for the announcements being made within that time frame whenever a new attraction is being built so we'll find out for sure by then although SF seems to be splurging on tornado's for just about every park this year so that's probably a given.

So far SFKK,SFDL & SFSTL are all getting tornado slides as part of their individual capital investment projects.....perhaps since construction hasn't begun yet maybe there's still truth to an earlier rumor from insiders at the park about hurricane harbor actually being relocated to the back of the park after all.

That may also explain why there was no haunted hayride during frightfest this past season.....the hayride follows the Batwing/superman service roads & is very popular but this past year was the first time they've actually gone without doing it,something may be up back there if you ask me.

I've also recieved the season pass email twice now & of course it doesn't go into too much detail about the waterpark other than the quote you mentioned....actually I'm not too concerned with what goes in the waterpark seeing as I never spend time there but if it's good enough it'll draw more guests off the coasters & into the waterpark thus making lines for other rides much shorter for the rest of us.
