| No coaster for Cedar Point in 2006???
This is just a rumor obviously and who knows for certain but on Screamscape, they're saying their "sources" tell them that won't be a new coaster in 2006. They say whatever plans they had for a new coaster will likely be pushed to 2007. It's says they will be looking to do something different for 2006. http://www.screamscape.com/html/cedar_point.html I'd say this could be possible if they are to build something really big for '07 and thus very expensive. But I don't know if I can see Cedar Point going four years in between adding a coaster. What does everyone think about the possibility of what Screamscape is saying?

The coaster in '07 is gonna be huge, maybe even record-breaking in terms of height, because it's Kinzel's last year and he wants to go out with a bang. At least, that's what I've heard.

how can they go any higher without building another rocket coaster? a 450' lift hill seems a little far fethched to me.

^^^ We can tell. I think they will build something big in 2007. Prob go for a record breaker. I don't think they want Ol' SF hanging onto the speed and height record or what ever that Bingda Ba coaster holds.

Yes, I think that they could possibly build something awesome for the 2007 season but what does everyone think if they weren't to build a coaster for 2006? It just seems weird to me since they usually build every other year and in the last 20 years or so have only went with two seasons in between when they didn't put up a new coaster. That would be the time between Mean Streak (1991) and Raptor (1994). Here it would be Top Thrill Dragster (2003) and New Coaster (2007). I would think they would put up some coaster even if it was something smaller like a Screaming Mouse for example. They don't have to spend a lot of money OR use a lot of space in the park. That way they still get a new attraction, it's still a coaster that ups their coaster count to stay even or go ahead of SFMM (depending on what SFMM does). Then build their record breaker in 2007. Just an idea.

I've thought about this quite a bit, as it seems as if Kinzel would obviously want to wait until 2007 to make this huge coaster (if that is what is going to happen). Perhaps they will just build something like a wild mouse or something similar to keep the coaster count up and to improve upon the number of attractions for children. I wonder if they would perhaps announce the '07 ride (I know this is extremely unlikely!) at the verry end of '05 (or even Jan. 06) to keep the public contect...plus, if it is as massive as people are seeming to believe, it may take quite awhile to construct!

Why do you all think it'll be a height/speed record breaker. I honestly think it'll be an extravagent flyer, 4th dimension, have 11 loops, something along those lines.

There won’t be a coaster breaking the height or speed records in 2007. Cedar Point doesn’t need to break the 300,400, and 500 foot marks in all one decade. The thing about Scream Scape is that their sources could be anyone, and as long as someone posts a story that sounds possible they’ll post it.

How can we even look ahead this far. Why don't we wait till they actually tell us what is going to happen, rather than getting our hopes up. And come on, why the hell would they build a flyer. lol. And why are we thinking about this, none of us predicted maxair was going to come in this year. The only people that can predict what will happen are the Cedar Point and Cedar Fair management. Us predicting what will happen 2 years from now is just dumb.

Slowbus, people have said that CP could or should get a giant Huss Frisbee, so you're wrong there when you say that no one could've predicted that they would get one. As for talking about it, if you don't like it, don't read it. It's not a hard concept but you must not be able to grasp that. It's called speculation and many of us find it interesting and fun to imagine what they might build in the future. It doesn't mean it will happen but it's called rumors. Don't you think there's a reason I put it in the rumors section?

If CP is going to add a small coaster, wait for SFMM to announce something first.

I don't think that CP would risk a new type of coaster for 07, I think what they need is just a kick ass woodie. Something that can compete for the second spot because we all know the top spot belongs to Shivering Timbers.

I hope it won't be a record breaker. A nice floorless or a flyer will be just fine for me.

That's not a bang. He needs a launched wooden 4D. That's a way to retire. MAke it 350 feet tall. Make it have water sections. Possible even a dark rde section.

I'm more for waiting till 07 for the coaster. I hope for more improvements like donut time, gameday, maxair, and new coats of paint for 06. happy holidays all

I'm sure it will be something massive for 2007 when he retires. Hopefully who ever replaces him will stop makeing them taller and faster (Not that i hate that) and build some more traditional coasters. CP would an awsome park if it just had a floorless and a flyer. Not saying it's not already the bomb just saying those 2 coasters would make the park about 100 times better. Maybe 2008 or 09 will bring both.

I can't see CP getting either with GL right next door. Both parks have to have a distinctive flavor otherwise the company wouldn't benfit from the purchase of GL. Sure the'll have the waterpark, but anybody going for the coasters knows that their floorless and their flyer our the gems. If cedar point had both there'd be little to no reason to go to GL for anything but the waterpark.

I say in '07 build a 500ft. Rocket Coaster, but by then I think SFMM will already have one.

I already know CP won't get a 500 foot coaster in 2007. The only coaster at this time that can go that high is a rocket coaster, so it would be pointless for them to build another one. I can see a dueling flying coaster for 2007. I could also see a dive machine. Although I don't know how long B&M have to wait before they can build another one in the U.S.

Why build another one? That would be very dumb on CP's part, as theres a 420 foot one in the same park. I say build a massive terrain woodie. Maybe like the one Alton Towers was gonnn abuild a few years ago, but got cancelled due to neighbors complaining about it. That woodie would've been one of the best ones of all time. If CP built something like this, then that would be awesometastical.

A dueling flyer wouls out do TTD so it could be something like that and not have to be taller and faster than TTD. It would hold 4 records: Worlds first dueling flying coaster Worlds tallest dueling coasters Worlds longest flying coasters Worlds fastest flyers. CP would be stupid to add another rocket coaster. It would look weird cause the ride would be a copy of TTD just taller. Plus that also add's 2 more coasters to CP's line up giving them the record of most coasters. Right now they share that record.

A woodie would be nice. A record breaking one at that. Maybe some type of terrain coaster much longer that the Beast, but not taller that SOB.

Everyone is saying that the only thing that could go that high is the rocket coaster...But before TTD was announced, we were saying, "The only thing that can go that high is a LSM launch like Superman the Escape". I don't know who said it, but it seems like everytime people try to speculate about a big coaster in the future, they are blinded by the truth and the possibility that maybe there is a new coaster waiting to be released or possibly there is a way for Cedar Point to break the records with a traditional chain lift or cable lift. I mean, before Kingda Ka's press release, everyone denied that it couldn't possibility beat TTD but look what happened. Coaster designers have proved countless times that there really is no limits to a coaster. We went from 200 to 300 to 400 and I wouldn't doubt that a 500 ft. coaster is in the near future. Do I think CP is going to get it? Possibly, but it's not impossible. If something huge really is planned for 2007 I wouldn't doubt that they are planning to raise the bar once more thus further extending the height that Six Flags would have to go to beat them. Anything is possible right now, and it does seem like CF is saving up money by purchasing Hydra, Silver Bullet, and the new waterpark at GL this year so they don't have to worry about putting new attractions in these parks in 2006 or 2007. It is very possible that there could be another record breaker in Cedar Point in 2007.

OK - Taller, faster, longer... Where on God's green earth (or in this case - Richard Kinzel's) are they gonna put it? |

If they're going to do it, I'm sure they'll find a place for it...They found a place for TTD and MF, and look how big they are. It's no impossible.

Yes, but on MF, they still had that island, and TTD, they could renovate the lake. None were impossible to do, but now look, where could they possibly build? Out into the lake? A woodie going over water could be awesome.
