What do you think will be next for Knotts?

Well IMO Knotts last 3 coasters have been amazing! They are running out of room, so do you think across the street they will build a parking strucure? That IMO would be the best move they could make, and if they did that they could be better than SFMM. Right now I think they could build 1 new coaster, what type do you think it will be? I think they should build the tallest traditional lift coaster. ( Taller than SD2000! ) That would be Awesome if something towered above Supreme Scream! Also do you think they would expand across the street and build a parking structure?

Would Knotts have enough room for a traditional lift coaster larger than SD2000? It doesn't seem like they would.

I don't think there is room for one that big without some major moving around of things. They already have (in my opinion) three world class full circuit coasters in GhostRider, Silver Bullet and Xcelerator that fit the wooden, steel with inversions and steel "hyper/extreme" coaster niches, and three other good coasters (two shuttle loopers and a family coaster), but I would welcome another one. I doubt it would come until 2006-2007, though.

They could easily put a station for one where the recently closed Kingdom Of The Dinosaurs is, but I'm not sure where the actual coaster would/could go unless it interacted heavily with the Boardwalk part of the park, or extended into the back stage areas.

I'm really hoping the next coaster is a floorless coaster with a custom layout (they could squeeze a compact one in somehow), but who knows what they will end up doing. I'd love to see a hypercoaster or a 4D type coaster there as well, but they just do not have the space to do it there. They could also do a wild mouse or an Intamin Impulse, but they already have two shuttle coasters and a good family coaster. Whatever is next, I think they are more likely to get creative with space than to build a parking garage.

Does anyone have a good aerial shot of the park? I'm curious how small and/or crowded the park is. I've never been there but always hear that there isn't much room left. I think a good hyper with a lifthill would be nice but it sounds like there isn't the room there. If that's the case, I'd say a tight and smaller floorless could be a good idea and a likely one too.

This is an aerial view taken back in March, Silver Bullet was not done but you can see the construction area and the land being cleared. You can tell that unless they actually build into the backstage area, a hypercoaster with a lift would not be that easy. It could be done, if they built over stuff. But I really think they are more likely to get a coaster with a smaller footprint (floorless, wild mouse or Impulse).

As much as I'd love to see another huge coaster, I just don't see how they can do it. For a while there were vague rumors of "something big in 2006", talk about another coaster by B&M of some kind in the works, as well as rumors about a coaster with a station in the Boardwalk where they now have the space for one, and a layout that went over the rapids ride, turned around by GhostRider and came back. I'm inclined to think if another coaster goes in a few years it will be in the Boardwalk section, or based there.

They also have neighbors and noise levels to think about, the houses and hotels are really close to the park, hence the cover on GhostRider's first drop.

Shouldn't this thread be under rumors? There are not any tangible or real rumors as of yet, it's all speculation at this point.

That's a great shot of the park. It's hard to make everythig out since I've never been there but the park does look very tight. It's surprising to see that the park is right in the middle of a residential area. That must also mak it very difficult to build anything tall there. I don't know if moving parking like someone suggested is at all posible but I'd doubt it. It's really hard to see a big coaster of any type being built in the park in the future but time will tell, I suppose.

Could someone post an arial view of SFMM?

Okay, back on topic. Honestly, I don't think a floorless would do the park much good. I would rather see the return of the standup coaster, lol , those things have been gone forever! Also the first Flyer or first B&M Dive Machine on the west coast would be a great addition for them, IMO.

I think that a flyer would be sort of similar to Silver Bullet.

I was thinking about this earlier. They need something with a drop, a steep one. I would say a Dive machine, but it would have to barely take up any space at all. (Which is hard, lol)

A hyper and a floorless would be ok also. They could make the floorless with a steep drop like Hydra's.

This sure seems like a very steep drop to me.

I think the next thing would be a major family ride. I'm thinking new dark ride (Sally maybe) in KOD's spot.

.....Xcelerator and Perilous Plunge both have very steep drops, and the drop on Xcel to me is one of the best there is. I don't think a Dive Machine will happen there anytime soon, although if they did one in 2007 it would be a good move to compete with SFMM.

I would also agree that before a coaster, they will most likely get a major family ride. I'm guessing family ride of some kind next year, another coaster the year after that. Although my thought is that a new dark ride might end up going somewhere other than where KOD is and they would end up using that area for another thrill ride.

If the next coaster is a floorless, I would expect something a lot more like Hydra (smaller to mid size) than something huge like Kraken, Medusa, or Scream.

Ummmm, That would be great idea, but i think there will be no room! Like u said, they should get that lot on the other side of the park. Every single time i go on Xcelerator & Supreme Scream, I see that lot SO EMPTY!! So i think they should buy it.

I'm sure they'll probably get a small floorless like Dorney did...It's possibly the only thing they could probably fit unless they moved a lot around. I wouldn't mind a floorless anyways, and I'm sure anyone that goes to the park wouldn't either.

Yes, it is a steep drop, but it twists, and it doesn't have a traditional lift.

The drops always seem better with a traditional lift.

I still think that a dive machine would be very unique though, and would be a great addition, but with all these thrill rides, they must be needing some family rides.

How come it took so long for a dive machine to be built in the US?

Was it an official rule?

If Knott's ever does do a Dive Machine, I would expect it to be one with some of the extras like SheiKra (inversion, second drop); looking at how BGT was able to squeeze SheiKra into a pretty small area and going over stuff makes me think it might be a pretty good candidate for KBF.

BGT signed a contract with B&M to not build any other DMs for a while to not steal the spotlight of SheiKra. I think that the next coaster will be one of Vekoma's weird new coasters, like the tilt coaster. Or a Hydra like Floorless. Better yet, Daemonen mixed with Hydra: compact, with a weird order of weird elements.
