Cypress Gardens getting PTC Classic "Starliner" in 07!

http://www.rcdb.com/id3075.htm

Last September, another beachside park closed, Miracle Strip Amusement Park. The park's fate was to be torn up into beachside condos. The park had a classic John Allen designed PTC Wooden known as Starliner.

Well, Starliner found a new home at Florida's newest park, Cypress Gardens Adventure Park. Though the woodie won't open until the 2007 season .

Well that'll be a nice addition to the park, but I want to see how long it is before they put in an SLC or maybe even a booster bike...

Its nice to see that they are dedicated to improving this park and becoming a player in the Orlando area market.

This is great news! Starliner is a classic fav of mine. It was running really well on MSAP's closing night. Hopefully CG will keep the dragon tunnel...that hidden pop of airtime is otherworldly. It's good to see it be saved!

As much as I love to see additions, I just hope they aren't expanding too fast. I mean, to make plans so far into the future based on the attendance over a few months seems a bit risky. I mean, what if attendance goes down after the "newness" of the park wears off? Hopefully this won't be the case, but rapid expansions like this remind me of when Premier bought Six Flags, or more specifically, what happened to SFWOA. They spend a lot the first year, see a rapid increase in attendance and keep spending heavily for the next few years, then they find they don't have the money to pay off the debts they have created over the first couple years.

They probably got the coaster dirt cheap, and spreading out additions is better than throwing them in all at once.

Nice to know a good coaster is being saved. At least they don't have to haul it half way across the nation.

This park is new meat. I'm sure it'll continue to rake in people like they are doing now...hopefully.

i think they should just get a new big coaster, a not so family coaster and hopefully not an slc but a hyper or b&m of some sort

i think right now what theyre doing is great, but they should add something else bigger to attract more people by 2007

also they and the state of florida for that matter could use some good flats such as a giant top spin or giant frisbee or something along those lines

/\ Well, the park already does have a lot of flats. But they don't have any giant ones.

Yeah they are adding a spinning mouse to Cypress Gardens and that Water park thing this year, I think. And I also heard of a new kind of flat ride coming there too. Not sure yet though.

That'd be great, but I don't think they'll have the room. I'm already having trouble figuring out where the heck they're going to put Starliner.

They're supposedly putting Starliner into a portion of the park that is not developed yet, but is currently an empty lot or something like that. Part of the reason for the wait is that they have to go through the zoning and approval to put it in where they want to put it. At least that's what I've heard.

And don't count on seeing any "huge" coasters or anything like that every showing up at the park. He's following much of the same model that has helped him turn Wild Adventures into such a success, which means that the vast majority of the park is going to be family friendly, and hypers, etc. just don't quite fit into that category.

Well, when you consider that Wild Adventures started out as nothing more than a petting zoo... Yeah, I'd say it's pretty successful. And yes, they have Cheetah, which is a good sized woodie, as well as a boomer, slc, a roller skater, a full size mouse, a rapids ride, and a slew of flat rides.

I heard it was going in the back in front of the new water park.

That's why I keep saying I wonder when they will get an SLC, I know the time will come, one day.

It's was originally a petting zoo?! Wow. From that to this. I say that VERY successful, so far.

It's already evident that Cypress Gardens is taking the same path as Wild Adventures, which IMO is the right path for the park. I could never see Cypress Gardens anything but a family's destination. It's always has been like that and always will be.

Starliner has been removed from RCDB's Cypress Gardens listing. I'm not sure what that means but hopefully it isn't bad news.

I am glad to see this coaster stickin' around. Mainly because I haven't ridden it yet, and I heard very good things about it. I heard about this a week ago, but was not sure if it was accurate or not. I'm pleased.

From what I've heard, Duane pulled it back down because there hasn't been an official announcement yet by either party. There is also some rumblings that the deal may not be completely done yet. So in the interest and respect for the parties involved, he's pulled it off until they are ready to announce it to the public.

At least that's what I've heard. Haven't heard any reasons why it won't happen though.
