Deja Vu at SFoG

Has anyone heard anything about the operating status of Deja Vu at SFoG? Did they finally fix it in the off season? I went last year and was really disappointed that it was closed, and have plans to go again later this month, and was hopig it would be open this time! That and I was also hoping to see Acrophbia completely fixed again.

well, if it's anything like the one a SFGAM than the problems are usally due to understaffing, because I think the ride ops for Deja need special traning because everytime I ride it I see the same people, so the SFOG and SFMM ones probablly have the sme problem, but I could be wrong.

The one at SFGAM worked fairly often last year if I remember correctly. I don't know if staffing was ever problem for them since it was open a good amount of the time. I hope that is the case this year as well.

I went 5 times in 04 and it was not open once....but some other guy in the other thread said he called SFOG twice, and they assured him it would be open.

Well from what we were told at No Coaster Con, they seemed to point towards a staffing issue as to why Deja Vu was closed so much at SFGA.

If it's staff, then I can see why. But dang hire more people. To have it closed all year for having no staff to open it is kinda silly.

I know Acrophobia was closed, but I never knew why. That ride is insane.

I don't think it was a staffing issue. Why would you not have the staff to run a new coaster?

I hope they have it open because I haven't been on since 2003. If it is open I will be riding it a lot this weekend.

I have been to SFOG at least 15 times since it first opened, its first year. Rode it once and never saw it operate again.

Are all the Deja Vu's absolutely identical or is there a slight difference in height / layout? I've been on the one at Magic Mountain and it was fantastic, especially sitting right at the back. It's a shame to see such a great ride standing there doing nothing.

They are all the same.

Yeah, they are great rides, even coming from Vekoma. That doesn't matter.

Hopefully they can get it working this year.

The one time I got to ride it, it was a lot of fun. That first tower is just scary, it feels like you are going to fall out of the restraints any second.

And with Six Flags "track record" that's a distinct possiblity. lol

I guess I should assume that the lack of Deja Vu's presence on the ride list at SFOG's official site could be considered a bad sign though?

Whoa, for SFOG to be your home park, that's pretty sad.

They should hire more staff, advertise this as a grand reopening of Deja Vu, and they could get extra money from a little more attendance for ride ops. That Skull Island whutchamacallit doesn't look like a major thing that will draw crowds.

I went on Deja Vu twice last year, both times on the same day. It was open once out of my 7 visits, and Acro was only open during my first three (March and April). I wish SFOG would just sell it or operate it instead of letting it sit there. A front seat ride on Deja Vu is the best coaster in the park, but falls behind Acrophobia for best overall ride. It's a shame.

I went on Acrophobia when I went last year (which was in August). It was open, but didn't rotate and did'nt tilt, and ended up closing later in the day again due to technical issues.

Too bad they don't let you pick your line when you have a Q-Bot. I bet the front is insane, like others have said. They always tend to put you towards the back, and with those trains, you get NO view.

So the SFGAM one has been decent in operation. Sounds like the other two are stinkers.

Didn't the one @ SFOG go out over the summer becuase the lift's motor blew? And that's not an over-night fix...

Um....they don't let you pick your row in the regular line either! Their intention is good (moving the line along, because load time on DV is horrible!), but I think it would be the same if people got to sit where they want to.

The lift motor did indeed blow. They bought a new one -- lots of $$$ from what I heard -- and after that, who knows. That's SFOG for ya.

About the absence from the website, SixFlags is horribly inconsistent with updating their website. I mean, look at all the show descriptions and all that stuff from last year! The reason it was removed before was so that it wasn't advertised, so that people didn't EXPECT it to be open when they got there. The few days that it WAS open was a pleasant surprise to website-visiting guests. Ha!

I completely agree. Front OR back seat, because of those rows' heights on the lifts (length and time of freefall). Frickin' scary on the front row. Feels like a 120 degree drop, kinda like you're looking behind yourself or something. (Although I am very aware that it is not.)

Anybody else going to opening day on Saturday?!?!? I'm going...woo hoo!

Oh, well I've only rode it once, and that was with a Q-bot cause it had a two hour line. I never would stand in that at all, and I wouldn't know that they placed you where they told you.

Though, I'm sure if you requsted front row, they would let you.

Most of the time, they don't. It all depends on who's in charge of splitting everybody up. I've begged before, and got no response. The girl just gave me the evil eye. Another time, I said nicely, "Would it be possible for us to sit in (front, back) row?" and had no problem. If they let you sit where you want, it's definitely not because they want you to.

haha...I would stand on the platform, and let people pass me so I could stand right in the line where I would get picked for front row. One guy saw me one time, and he was like "HEY! YOU CANT DO THAT! YOU ARE HOLDING UP THE LINE!!!" I told him I wasn't, because I was letting people pass me......

he didn't have anything to say.

But no, they never give you front row if you ask for it nicely. I think they get off on it.

That's horrible. If I waited two hours in line to ride it, I better be able to pick the front row! If not that, then any other row is fine cause you can't see anything. But if someone requested the front, they better get it. That's just horrible!! I would make sure I get front row if I wanted it. Say it like "I'm going to ride front-row." and then if they still don't let me then I'll probably make a scene and then they'll probably let me.

well, I found that the back seat is more terrifying, simply because you go so high on the first drag up the tower....

A friend of mine is gonna be in Atlanta this weekend & is planning to hit SFOG.....hopefully he'll get on DV & be able to compare it to Two face, which of course is every bit as intense as DV(especially when you're hauled up the first lift backwards).

I've only ever been on the back seat, but I can't imagine it gets more terrifying. When you get winched up that first tower...it seems never ending and is unbelievably high; you're facing straight down at the ground.

Pff-ha! That's hilarious.

I think the people that are getting paid to "direct" you to a stall would be better used making sure people fasten the orange belts BEFORE they pull the green harnesses down. I mean, that's what takes to frickin' long . . . people don't listen and follow instructions! Load times are bad enough when everything goes smoothly. Being a ride-op on DV would try my patience...big-time.

Can't wait!
