SFOT Rocket Rumor

There is a major rumor about SFOT getting a rocket in 2006. Nothing is possitive or confirmed. http://www.screamscape.com/html/six_...over_texas.htm

I saw this, and I don't beleive SF would want to break the height and speed record a year after they get it, I say they would get something like the new Superman rocket in Austrailia or Storm Runner.

Or they wouldn't get one. I don't know, over time, I have noticed that Screamscape hasn't been terribly accurate, so I wouldn't bank on it right now.

I could see a 300 footer being built where Wildcatter and Splashwater is... that'd actually be pretty nice going across the entry road ^_^

You never know. KK could be the new Batman Clone. One at every park

Just think, Maybe SF could get out of debt if they built a KK at atleast 6 of their parks.

You have to spend money to make money.

That's funny... I just got finished playing the SFOT scenario for RCT2 and then I got onto TN and saw this thread. Anywho...

I don't see a record breaker, but something along the lines of Storm Runner (with or without the inversions) or Exelerator....

OK Keynes

I sort ofdoubt it would go to Fiesta, but such an investment in Arlington wouldn't be too far fetched. The only thing that bugs me about it is that they alread have Mr. Freeze. That, and that the rumor is from screamscape.com

And Fiesta already has a launched and there are so many more types of coasters, and since they dont have the diversity and count of SF Over Texas or Great Adventure, which is why I think a second launch wouldn't be as good for a smaller park like Fiesta, I would prefer some variation (in other words, dont follow the steps of Kings Dominion) but SFOT could do it since they already have a wide array.

I wish this would happen. I would love to have a rocket in the midwest/south!

I think the rocket part could happen but the record part. No if Sixflags just put this much themeing and time into Kingda Ka then they will not break the record at another park. Only if Cedar Fair does it.

Maybe they hacked to Cedar Fair's plan and they want a 500ft coaster so sixflags is going 550?

I must agree with Emann, but obviously it was a joke.

blink has a point, sf does like to copy off of cf. if cp was smart though, they would go beyond the predictions that we have made, and build a 600 foot coaster.

I believe it will be in 07. Remember they said 420 feet and it being launched would be a stretch too.

Building a world record holder doesn't mean that they are copying. Let's see, SF was the first to build a B&M Invert, the first with a B&M Florless, the first with B&M Stand-up, the first with an Arrow Mine Train, the first with an Intamin Launch.. doesn't sound like Cedar Fair is exempt from "copying", though I think to claim that either copies the other is ludicrous.

Yeah that'd be sweet but I doubt Cedar Point's next record breaker height wise will be launched. Why have two Dragster type coasters? If they would try to beat the height I think they'd either tear Dragster down (or move it to MA, DP, or GL..) or they could figure out a way to pump up Dragster and add more track onto the top.. 120 MPH in 4 Seconds is powerful but no where near what COULD be done with Dragsters relatively long and drawn out launch. Who knows.. It'd be a cheap way back on top of the record books... just pump up the launch to 150 in 4 seconds (still way less intense than Hypersonic) and add some more vertical track before the top hat..

I cant imagine CP taking back the height record anytime soon unless they do something to Dragster. Who knows.. there's always the rumor about taking out the lot and putting it on the mainland.. and they could sure use that long straight causeway to build one HIGH coaster. (if they choose to spend like.. $75 mil on a 500+ foot full circuit.

Eric

Yea, I remember that. I guess 2007 is possible. Damn that would have to be one hell of a launch it is a rocket. Imagine that a 600 foot chain lift.

Anyone ever consider the possibility of this replacing the existing Mr. Freeze coaster, keeping the themeing and build a new Mr. Freeze Coaster in it's place. Then send the old Mr. Freeze coaster to some place like SFNO?

It wouldn't fit where Mr Freeze is. Mr. Freeze is right on the edge of the creek that runs through the park and along the back fence. The only reason I would even begin this rumor is because of what happened in 2000/2001. SFMM got a record breaking coaster in 2000 and then SFOT got its clone for its 40th Anniversary in 2001. Even that is still just fanboy logic and it is very unlikely this will happen (a record breaker, at least).

As for Fiesta Texas getting it. It would never happen because La Cantera would never allow it. They are one of the reasons why the skycoaster's gone, I believe. Plus, everyone knows that SFFT is getting that B&M flyer for 2006 .

Mr. Freeze is awesome though, I don't see it going honestly.

I think we'll see somthing like Xcelerator, but with more turns and such. I could also see a record breaking inversion.

I am with Chiller on this one. A SR inspired coaster would kick ass. It would be really cool. Even tho I haven't been to SFOT before, I would like to go soon.

If they don't get rid of Mr. Freeze, they aren't going to get a SR inspired Rocket. They already have one launched coaster. It may not have as many elements as SR but why put a second one in that pretty much does the same thing?

It won't do the same thing as Mr. Freeze. Mr. Freeze does the whole course frontwards and backwards. A SR inspired coaster will just go through the course forwards not backwards. They kinda might be the same in some ways, but they aren't in the big picture.
