Michigan's Adventure

I personally believe that (with the exception of Worlds of Fun) there is only one park in the Cedar Fair chain that despritly needs expansion, that would be my homepark, Michigans Adventure. Even though it's my homepark I haven't been to MIAdv in over 2 years now because of the lack of anything substantial being added. Personally I'd like to see an Intamin Hyper go in for 2007 (2k6 would be even better but I don't see it happening). I wouldn't complain about a Morgan Hyper or a B&M invert either (since those are the other two likely ones). Although B&M seems to be getting a bit weak these days, maybe an Intamin Invert. would be better, in fact that would be awasome...

Anyway discuss...

VF just got one not too long ago... Steel Venom. MA has not had a new coaster since 1999 (when both Mad Mouse and Big Dipper were installed). They've mostly put in hand-me-downs from Cedar Point, save for Ripcord, Be-Bop Blvd (which was planned and partially constructed before Cedar Fair purchased it in 2001), Hydroblaster, and the Funnel of Fear (which is just a waterslide in the Wild Water Adventure section).

Everytime I ride a coaster, it valleys. I've never been on a stalled coaster or had one roll back (except Wicked Twister and what was Superman: Ultimate Escape, which does that by design).

FYI that slide of your's was almost Ocean of Fun's. They had all but decided to move it to OOF when at the last minute the local government there at MIA finally went CF:LP's way on the whole water ordeal.

I don't see a hyper anytime soon. However you may be getting a new coaster next year, but not in the form that you would like. There are very strong rumors that Camp Snoopy will be coming to MiA next season. This will result in the consolidation of the children rides as well as the addition of a few new rides (perhaps Woodstock's Express?). I would also assume that you would get a rapids ride before you would get a hyper coaster. Just MHO.

They dont need a hyper, thats what Shivering Timbers is -80ft. ST needs a rehab in a few years, just to restore it to its fully glory and personally I think something compact and intense would compliment the park well. I couldnt see a park with a huge out and back like this getting a hyper unless it was really, really twisted. But still, I would see inversions in the future for anything there...IF they get anything.

I love Shivering Timbers to death but really dislike the park a lot so I dont go out of my way to hit it. I was there last year but it was a family vacation in that area.

Whats really sad about this is that they have so much room to expand and put in something great but they dont. I mean, have you looked out from the top of ST's lift hill? They have so much unused land just waiting for something.

wishful thinking= Cedar Fair will go Six flags style and put like 3 coasters into MIA in one year and then leave their other other parks to die!!!(minus the leaving the other parks to die part) lol. but seriously, I dont think it wouldnt be that bad of an idea to put all of their spending money into MIA in one year and wait another year for the rest of the chain.

Not true. Funnel of Fear has been planned since mid-season 2004, and was already under construction (actually, nearly complete) when the local governments started to agree on the water/sewer lines. The water/sewer issue did not have any effect on Funnel of Fear whatsoever, let alone take Michigan's Adventure's capita and give it to another park (that's the part that doesn't make sense, that Michigan's Adventure pays for the ride and Cedar Fair moves it to Oceans of Fun, that doesn't happen in the Cedar Fair chain).

The Cedar Fair chain is not like the Six Flags chain. Six Flags takes all of the capita for the year, combines it, and gives it to the parks that may not necessaraly need it. Cedar Fair gives parks back the capita that they made, they don't distribute it to certain parks. If you make it, you get it back is the rule at Cedar Fair.

Also remember that 2006 is our 50th anniversary up here, so you have to expect there will be at least something decent going in (unlike 2002 and 2003).
